4 day Wonder Aug 28, 2005

We've stayed at the Polynesian 3 times (Jen and I in 2001; all 4 of us 2002, when it rained like 8 of 9 days :umbrella: ; and Jen and I before our first cruise in 2004). All of our prior visits were in November / December, so August will be a new experience! It's definitely a great resort!

We're unsure about transportatin from the resort to port at this point, but we'll probably rent a car and return it at Canaveral. We did the Disney Transportation in November and it was nice, but you really lose a lot of the first day on the ship (I think we boarded around 2:00 or 2:30).

How funny that we're all staying at Poly before the cruise! We'll definately have to meet up there. Have any of you ever stayed at Polynesian before? My kids convinced me to stay there - I wanted Beach Club, but now I am so excited to stay at Poly. Are all of you renting cars to get to the port?

We have stayed at the Poly once. We usually stay at the Contemporary, but it's our anniversary so we wanted something a little more romantic (as if it could be with our 12 DS along, lol).

So, we definitely have to arrange to meet, since there are a bunch of us! How fun!!

And check it out - we're under the 200 day mark!! :earseek:

Welcome DonaldsGrl103!!

Glad we have more people on this cruise!

Hey, we are going to. There will be me my DH, DD who will be 5 and DD who will be 9. It is my youngest's first cruise. We are going down 3 days early and staying at Ron Jon's Resort in Coco Beach. We got a really good deal for touring the resort for 90 minutes and couldn't pass it up. I dont think that we are doing the parks this year, looking at Space Center and beach and so forth instead. Have been to Nassau twice. Really liked the first time and kinda of scared of just this January so dont think will take kids very far into port. Will probably just walk a little downtown, if that. ReaLLY looking forward to Castaway Cay, was just in Half Moon Cay with Holland and it was to die for. We booked a Cat 12 but are an automatic guarantee to higher category because we have 4 people so dont know where we will end up on the ship. We were docked next to Wonder in Nassau and kids onboard looked like they were having a blast!
We are from Pittsburgh PA :cheer2:

We will be traveling on this one with DH, DS 13, DD 11, and DD 6. We can't wait!!!! The kids are nervous about using the youth programs without knowing other people. Hopefully they will warm up quickly.

Pinklet - my son will be almost 13 when we sail, so he will still be in the Lab, not the Teen Club. I have been hoping to find a boy of similar age as he is (he will be 12 and 10 months when we sail). He is also nervous about being in the club without knowing anyone. Are you staying at WDW prior to the cruise?

Hi, my DD is 11. She's done the club before and loves it but maybe we can get them together to meet before.

Add two more Bill and Bill, Grampa and Grandson. Grandson 9 years old, 4 visits to disney, since age 4. His first cruise, Grandpa 17 RCCL, my first Disney cruise. See you on board.

Add another welcome ewt715! We're getting a small but very select group, it seems! :cool1:

Hi
My husband is taking me on a cruise to celebrate my 40th birthday in August. It will be me, DH, twin baby boys (1), our aupair, my brother, his DW, DD (6) and DS (8). I haven't booked yet, b/c we are trying to decide between this cruise (I just found some decent rates) or a 5 day on Carnival out of Miami.

DH and I really want to do a Disney cruise, but the idea of driving 4 hours from Miami there and back, makes me hesitate a bit, as does the lower type of stateroom. However, the idea that Carnival may be too crowded, wild or tacky (no offense meant) makes me hesitate over that.

What is everyone's opinion? :confused3

:cheer2: It's been a while since anyone posted in this thread, so I thought I would bump it up. Let's start talking about having a DIS meet on the ship! It would be great for us (very few it seems) to get together and say hi! Anybody have suggestions about a time and place? Since this is our first cruise, I can't really make any suggestions, but it would be great to arrange something. Anyone else up for this? :cheer2:

Well, we are going now and have had a bit of luck getting 2 balcony rooms at a wonderful price through allseastravel.com. It's now my DH and twin sons (1), my brother, SIL and their kids (6 & 8), my sister and mother. It should be a wonderful trip. We are even spending a few days at WDW before the cruise. We will be staying at POR. It's turning into a very nice little vacation!

I'd be happy to meet others as well, but I've never cruised with Disney before, so I don't have any suggestions either. One thing I did do (after getting the idea from this board), was to get magnetic frames for our room doors. They have different Disney characters on them, and the one for my door is in lime green! I ordered it from someone (very inexpensively) off of eBay.

I can't wait!

Just checking in. :wave2: For a cruise that is less than 3 months away no one is going. I've been on the cruise twice before. When we went last time some people met the first afternoon. Late afternoon around 4pm I think. And if I remember right we met outside the ESPN bar ( I think it's called something different now) on the top deck. And everyone had something lime green on or with them so we knew who to look for. Hope this helps, let me know if someone is going to set something up.
I can't wait!!!!
