4 day stay, Refillable Mug or Not?

I'm staying 5 nights at All Star Movies. I'm planning on getting Tables in Wonderland to use at the food court for breakfast. If I get a refillable mug do I get the 20% off using TIW?

I've seen a few reports that mugs purchased at the food court do qualify for the 20% discount, but I haven't seen anything lately.

We brought several empty cups with lids with us on our last trip and bought one refillable mug. We would take all of them downstairs, fill the refillable mug, pour it into one of the other cups, wait for two minutes, and do it again. We would get 4-5 drinks each time we went to the fountain machine.

Yeah, and this is why the rest of us have to keep paying a higher price for the refillable mugs to accomodate for those that "steal" refills.

We just got back from Disney this weekend. It was just my husband and I and we were only there three nights. This was our first trip in a few years that we did not purchase the dining plan so we did not get a mug. We contemplated it but decided not to. I think we still would have gotten our money's worth out of it with him getting coffee in the am. I try to drink as much water as I can but occasionally crave a soda or lemonade at Disney so if I had one a day it would have made sense there too.

We also decided that we spent more without the dining plan.

I read on another board that you can get 1,2,3 day or length of stay. Our trip is going to be DH & myself so we were going to pass on the mugs but the kids wanted them as one of the souvenirs we bring home. So if they still offer the 3 day we might get some.

I have never purchased a bug, so forgive my naitivity......if you purchase a mug, i know you can refill it at the resort. However its sounding like people are bringing them to the park...you cannot get free refills there correct?? That just doesnt sound right to me. In the am it is only soda, coffee, and tea? Does anyone know if there are other options at CSR? such as hot chocolate, lemonade, or iced tea?
Thanks so much for your input. This is a new option and new resort to us.

I can't speak for other people, but the reason we usually take them to the parks with us is because there is such a long walk from the rooms to the food court. So we get ready in the morning, then go eat breakfast, then go straight to the buses without going back to our room - no one wants to do the lengthy trek back to the room, then back to the front of the resort again just to drop off mugs! So no choice but to take them to the parks with us. But it works in that it means we have them with us when we return to the resort, so we usually stop in for a refill on our way back to the room. I usually carry a small backpack, so we just dry them out as we hit the parks and stuff them in there for the day. I don't find that a problem, but I can see how people who don't carry a backpack could have a big problem with them.

We normally buy two mugs. My DH and I use them for coffee in the morning and hand them off to the kids in the afternoon for drinks at the pool while we partake in the more interesting beverages :woohoo:

As the kids don't tend to drink soda at home, the mugs get used pretty heavily :rolleyes1 I think we could probably get our monies worth in 5 days as our touring style is to spend the afternoons at the resort pool.

Can't speak for what is available at CSR, but can verify. The mug will only work at the resorts.

LOL just noticed I put bug instead of mug :rotfl: Sorry about that..
Can anyone help as to the options for am/pm drinks at CSR?

At The Boardwalk all beverages were the same am/pm. Soda, coffee, tea, lemonade (this was minute maid pomegranate lite.) Some kind of powerade. I think there was hot chocolate too, but I never got that.

My boys would always run down to fill the cups in the AM while I was getting ready. I did bring my cup to the park. I carry a water bottle holder on a strap so I just thread the handle of the mug through that. If I didn't bring that one day, then I clipped it to my wristlet. It was no problem for me to carry it to the parks. I would usually fill it before we left and when we got back.

We bought ours the first week of December. I washed one in the dishwasher once, and the picture started coming off. So I've been hand washing them. Now the picture is starting to come off some of the others. They are not going to last long.

For me it isn't worth buying the mug anymore. I found that I wasn't getting enough use out of it.

I usually pick up some juice and a few diet cokes for the room when I arrive and that lasts me the whole trip when combined with whatever I buy in the parks to drink.
I don't drink coffee.

I bought one in the past primarily for coffee and/or to use on pool days and for a souvenir. We always get water/drinks delivered to the room. Once the price went to what it currently is there was no way I was buying it. Our last trip we just got more drinks delivered.

Trying to decide if the refillable mug is worth it or if we should just skip them this time. What are your thoughts? We are staying four nights.

I don't ever think the refillable mug is worth it unless you got it because you had a dining plan. I just bring my own soda in the room and use the refrigerator. I'll get more and it's more convenient to bring that to the pool or to a meal at the food court. You get far more soda that way for much cheaper and it's barely an increase to the amount of luggage you have. The only downside is if you're flying then it's a harder proposition (but still doable or just find a replacement like Crystal Light).

As far as the souvenir, I already have it so maybe I'm biased but there are much better ones out there to spend your money on.

In general, I agree. Bringing your own drinks or having them delivered is a lot more convenient than trecking to the food court every time you want a drink. It can also be more cost effective if you do not spend a lot of time at your resort, or only stay for a couple days.
BUT, We went for two weeks in 2010. Since we had such a nice, long vacation, we spent quite a bit of time at our own resort pool.
The refillable mugs were well worth the money on that trip. :thumbsup2

This is a pretty subjective issue, but you're looking for opinions, so here's mine:

I find them worthwhile for my travel style. I generally stay at Pop, and the beverage station is near the bus stops, so I get coffee on my way to the bus stop and drink it while I'm waiting. (Cuz there's always waiting :rotfl:.) I carry a backpack with large side pockets, so once emptied I can store it in a side pocket and don't have to worry about liquid inside my backpack. You could also attach it to the outside of your backpack with a carabiner. During the day, if I get ice water or soda from counter service, whatever I haven't consumed during my meal I will pour into the mug (assuming I want to finish it while I'm walking around) - because I HATE the condensation on the cups counter service drinks are served in. Sometimes I will use the mug to get water at a drinking fountain while I'm in the parks. Then, on the way back to the room at the end of the evening, I will fill the mug with either hot chocolate or decaf tea or lemonade.

You can also refill mugs at the Dig Site/pool bar (Siesta's) with soda/lemonade when open. This came in handy when we stayed in Rancheros 6A.

I also think I remember a kiddo getting hot chocolate and having to wait to get my coffee one morning at Cafe Rix, but it has been a while.

For DH and I they are worth it. We use MDE and wouldn't order enough to use Garden Grocer or similar services. We use them for breakfast and when we come back in the afternoon to hang by the pool.Plus we usually walk up to POR to see Yeeha Bob a couple of nights so we grab a lemonade or ice tea for the walk to & back. . Between ice tea, lemonade and soda we would order it is at least break even for us.

We are gonna be there for a week and are kind of concerned about the weight of carrying bottles of water. Do we think that the convenience of carrying the empty mug would be greater than carrying around full bottles of water? It seems like cost wise it may break even.

Get collapsible cups from Amazon. They fit in a cargo pocket or small bag and can be filled at a water fountain or bathroom. I have used mine for the past 3 trips with great success. I also bring the small liquid flavor enhancers.. usually Nestea Iced Tea. Plus, any QS will give you a free cup of water (if you want to wait in line.)

As for the refillable mug, I only get one when on the dining plan because it's free. No matter how long I stay, it's usually too much of a hassle to walk back to the refill station for a mug of soda that really doesn't hold enough for me.
