This is our first trip to Universal orlando and my kids are huge Harry Potter fans... (around 10 yrs old) We are going during the busiest season so I thought spreading it out for 4-5 days to cover 2 parks will be enough. We will have Express pass since we are staying at the Loews Royal Pacific hotel.

I am trying to decide if 4 days is better or I should just stay 5 days. Will my kids (and myself) be bored if we do the same park 5 days? How many days do I need for Transformer/ Harry Potter fans during the busiest season of the year to see all?

With Express Passes, you are good with fewer days. But more days allow you to be in the park morning and evening then somewhere else- like enjoying your hotel, bowling at Cabana Bay, mini golf, seeing a movie...something that gets you out of the crowds. You don't have to be a theme park warrior with more days. You can strike a good balance on rides and relaxing. :)

Questions to consider:
  • Are you a family that likes to re-ride rides, or is it a one and done experience for you?
  • When your family is at theme parks is it a matter of going from ride to ride or do you enjoy soaking in the other details?
  • Does your family enjoy thrill rides? Which rides can't your kids ride due to height restrictions?
  • Do you plan on seeing shows like Grinchmas?
  • Do you wear out in the afternoon and want to go back to the hotel to chill for a couple hours? Four days of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. can be pretty exhausting.
My family definitely likes to re-ride, and spends time checking out the shops and side adventures. The kids aren't really into thrill rides, but they will ride FJ, Gringott's, Simpsons, etc. We have no problems being bored on a 5 day trip (even if it's our third or fourth such trip in a 2 year span).

Perfect!!! I just bought 5 day ticket! Your comment about coming back to the hotel in the afternoon to rest sounds wonderful! That’s what we will do 👍👍 Thank you!
