I know that WDW extended these tickets thru Sept 2021. What happens if we have a child ticket that we can no longer use - can that be upgraded to an adult and if so, at what cost? Thanks

I believe any unused tickets can be upgraded. Not sure of the cost, but call ticketing to ask.

Have a great trip.

The cost to upgrade a WDW ticket is:
the on-line cost from Disney of the ticket that you HAVE on the date that you bought it **
subtracted from-
the on-line cost from Disney of the ticket that you WANT on the date that you upgrade it.

Pay that difference price (plus tax on that amount) for the upgrade.

**Actually, on the date that the ticket was "minted" (or issued,) but the purchase date is generally accurate.
I understand that generally, but this is a unique situation. They no longer sell 4 day 4 Park tickets. We are in a situation now that a child can no longer go, but we can bring an adult. Suppose only way to know is to call.

You should be able to get the value of the ticket applied to the cost of the new ticket. As long as the ticket was not partially used, it should be transferable.

You can figure out the $ amount yourself, so you won’t be surprised and can complete the transaction.

Maybe I'm being a dunce or am not clear so apologies in advance...I am looking to upgrade to a 4 day, 4park adult from a 4 day, 4 park child - these tickets were sold as a promotion last year and are no longer sold, so I cannot know how much an adult ticket is selling for. Are people saying that I can upgrade by paying the difference the THEN child price and the THEN adult price, since that same ticket is no longer for sale? Again, there is no NEW ticket as it is not published or available for sale anymore.

Is it for the same individual, who has outgrown a child ticket since your original plans? You can always ask, but I don’t know that they can issue a ticket no longer available.

I can't remember how much less the child ticket was, but I looked back and when we bought ours last January through UCT each adult one was just over $336.

I would suggest calling. You never know what ways they can help and sometimes speaking to a person and stating your case may help.

I’m thinking you have the same ticket we bought last year . A 4 park magic ticket. You should be able to have the amount of the 4 park child ticket deducted from the purchase price of an adult ticket.
Good luck calling, I called to change tickets and was on hold 1 and a half hours

No matter what type of unused ticket you have sitting in the drawer at home, think of it as $$. You can’t get the cash back, but whatever the face value of that ticket was (what Disney was charging at the time, not what discounters like Undercover Tourist charged)can be applied to the purchase of a new ticket.

In your case, you have a special offer ticket. That special ticket is no longer offered. But you have the value of it to the purchase of a future ticket.

I think the 4 park 4 day ticket compelled you to visit each park? The rest of the group may have to follow those rules, so the new adult to your group can just go along with those plans when using a new 4-day ticket. You can just purchase a 4 day ticket. For 2021, they start around $107 + tax per day, depending on season, day of week, etc.

But you don’t have to buy a 4 day ticket for your new adult. If the original child ticket cost $200, you could buy a 2-day adult ticket and pay very little out of pocket.

Basically, you have a $200 credit to apply to a new ticket. If you were to purchase a new ticket that is <$200, they are NOT giving you money back.

That is indeed a problem that the ticket is no longer available for sale. I don't think anyone can tell you for certain what will happen. You'll likely have your best outcome at the the park entrance, but that also comes with the greatest amount of uncertainty.

In the past, if a child has outgrown a ticket, the folks at guest services will upgrade it for free. Since you said that the child can no longer go and you want to use the ticket for an adult; this is an unlikely outcome.

They might be able to upgrade the ticket from child to adult based on the original cost of each ticket; so it might only cost you a few dollars. I'm under the impression that they have been able to apply upgrades to tickets that are no longer sold, but it's been a while since I've seen that confirmed. It's a complicated process, so it's also somewhat unlikely.

The option that you can have confidence with is that they can apply the cost of the original ticket to a new ticket. That's going to be the most expensive option, and likely the only one you'll be able to perform in advance of your trip.

I completely understand what you are saying, but there are always unique circumstances where this does not apply, especially when it comes to fairness and all the issues caused by the pandemic. I will call disney ticketing, but I am hopeful, and frankly, expecting, Disney to charge me the difference between the original ticket price, and the ORIGINAL adult ticket price for the same 4 parks special. Not, as you are saying, the difference between original price and an adult 4 day base ticket.

We shall see. I will report back the results.

I would love to see some Disney / pandemic magic.

Curious to hear the outcome.

We took advantage of this last year - KINDA. We added on the waterparks and it was a pretty good deal - then they kept the waterparks closed and messed up our plans. We ended up having to do what everyone is suggesting here - turn in our tickets and just get the value to use for a regular 5-day ticket so we could have 5 days in the parks. We paid with gift cards we bought with the Target Red Card - that's the best we could do.

Anyone know if there are ANY Disney ticket deals right now or upcoming? Other than the Blue Card deal that is. Last year at this time I had already bought tickets for my August trip. This year I've been watching the availability calendar to make sure it's not selling out, but other than that I really can't find a reason to commit so far out. Looking for same as last year, 4 days in the parks, 1 day in a waterpark, no park-hoppers. Would buy today if there was a deal, otherwise, we'll wait.
