4 and 5 day passes now must show ID and use separate entrance

It will be a pain if you have already entered once with your ticket, and get stuck behind a bunch of people who are entering for the first time and have to sign their tickets and have it entered into the computer.

When we were the the week on Oct 7-12, one of the castmembers asked for ID on a Wednesday, that was it. When we picked our 5day park hoppers at the ticket booth, the cast member wrote our names on our tickets, we did not sign them.
I sure hope they have more turnstiles too. Also, when were there someone was trying to get in the parks with another person annual pass. :confused3 Of course, she was not let in the parks.

This past March.

I see from other replies now they will be having you sign tickets...that makes more sense to match up then :-)

Disney started doing this after our trip in May so you were there before it began. :)

I'm glad they are doing seperate gates. We were there this last weekend and kept getting behind people who had to sign their tickets and show ID it really slowed down the line.

Interesting, we were there last week with a group of 11. All of us had 4 day hoppers and none of us signed them. The last day, after leaving CA and heading back into Disneyland my husband and I were stopped and told we had to sign. Funny, half way through our last day, and we didn't show id ever...so what good does that do? We noticed a lot of little oddities in this last trip though...

Are they making you show ID for the kids as well? Is this the line for those with 7 day PHs? Would they accept a key from the Disney hotels as ID for the kids? I have an AP but the boys have PHs so am really not looking forward to that line.

When we went in Sept 2011 we stayed onsite so we had room keys and credit card style passes that Disney mails you when you book through them. They had my husband and I show our ID and then we had to sign our passes. I don't think anyone ever asked again for our ID because we had a room keys with our names on it. Our DS was 6 at that time and they had us write his name on his and then when he would go through they would ask him his name (and we had our room key to show as well).

We are going the week after Thanksgiving and have 5 day passes so I am hoping by then it will be all worked out and be a fine, oiled machine. Those going between now and then, please share your experience so those of us coming after you know what to expect.

Not so long ago, there was quite the thread that was discussing how to get Disney to try to hurt the ticket agents that were renting tickets. Well it looks like we got them to listen! Two lines may not be the most efficient way but its a start. We are headed down in less than two weeks and have 8 day hoppers so we will be in that line day after day after day after day after.....:rotfl2:

I'm here right now with 5 day parkhoppers, and one of us has to show our ID when we go into either park with our parkhoppers, even if we have been hand stamped. I was so annoyed today, because while my family was at DL, I went over to DCA to get FPs, and it said something like line 53 and 54 for 4 an 5 day parkhopper holders. I didn't see any of the lines marked with numbers, so I got in a line. Once at the front, they said, "Please go to line 53 or 54 with your 5 day parkhopper" I asked where is that? she pointed to the left. I went to the very end, and asked, which line is 53 or 54? Then I asked are they marked, and no, they are not. Seriously. Please mark it well if you are going to ask folks to use a specific line. I had my ID ready and everything.

I think a previous poster was right - they are really cracking down on ticket rentals and fake tickets. They had a huge bust this month, so they are likely trying to send a strong message to would-be thieves.

That said, I'm surprised they don't have more turnstiles for the 4-5 day parkhoppers. I read somewhere that the majority of non-AP visitors have 4-5 day hoppers.

I am confused. How do they know who has 4 or 5 PH after you get your hand stamped? Are they making everyone show their tickets as they leave so they know which stamp to put on your hand? I totally understand them wanting you to show your ID the first time you check in but once you have gotten your hand stamped why the need to show your ID again. I know the stamps are different for each park so I see why you have to go get into the 4/5 day pass line to go into a different park. Did they make you show your ID with a hand stamp when you were going back into the same park you got the hand stamp at?

Now they are really pushing for guests to sign the backs of their tickets for ID purposes, so I suppose they could match the signatures to the ID's. Also, for some tickets, your name IS printed on the ticket. This is true for military tickets and I have read on these boards that in the last year, a few guests have purchased normal tickets at the parks the day of their trip and that their names were printed on the tickets.

When we went earlier this month we bought tickets for both our family and my sisters (since we can get a discount). Our family got 5 day hoppers, my sister got two 5 day and one 3 day for my niece who was joining us later. We used my wife's card to buy our tickets and mine to buy my sister's.

When we got tickets at the turnstile my wife's name was on one of the tickets. When my niece got her ticket 2 days later it had my name on it. A day later a ticket taker challenged her (since she's obviously not a guy), made her write her name on the ticket and wrote "See ID" on the ticket. Of course nobody else checked her ID.

The names on the ticket appears to be the name on the credit card that paid for it, and it's the first ticket selected for purchase.

We had the same name thing happen to us when we visited this past May. I bought a 6 day hopper for my MIL using my card since I arranged the trip. (My family has annual passes.) When she went to enter the park the first time at the turnstile, they asked for ID along with the ticket. They obviously didn't match. She was directed to a ticket booth where they reprinted the ticket with her name after showing ID and explaining what had happened. BTW, I was never asked for a name to place on the ticket. Mine was used by default since I purchased it....

I am glad that they are cracking down on fraudulent use of tickets. I also hope they have the good sense to open lines as needed to expedite the entry process for all the 4/5 day hopper holders.:goodvibes

So, I have an Annual Pass and my sisters will have 4-day passes. Can we go in the same turnstile?
My guess is that you can if you want to, or you could simply go through adjacent ones.

What about us who have 6 day passes?
Since it does not say anything about any passes other than 4 & 5 day passes, I would imagine you can go through any turnstile, otherwise the sign would probably say something like "4 days or more...." Just a guess.

I don't have a problem with showing ID along with my ticket. However, only two turnstiles? That seems like it will create a HUGE problem. Disney might have to re-think a few things.

Geemo
My guess is that Disney knows what percentage of tickets are included in this grouping and has planned accordingly.

Disney should set-up every turnstiles to verify ALL tickets or pass with ID upon entrance to the parks. Not just two!

I'd like to see a few pictures of those two lines in the morning.
Whoaaaa Nellie, they might be pretty long.

Do you think they'll be as long as the RSR line?

For those in line 15 and 16 enjoy the park once your make it through the gate. I'll be thinking about ya!

Bolding is mine and what I am replying to here.

LOL No, I don't think those lines will be two hours long. I bet there are not as many 4 and 5 day passes as we on DIS think there are.

Anyone use a 6 day pass, and if so, did you have to use those two gates?
I would not think you would need to use those gates as they do not mention 6 day passes. If so, Disney needs to re-do the sign. :teacher:

Hmmm... I wonder if this is for first time entry only, not re-entry.

Your stay probably overlapped with the starting of a new procedure being tried out and therefore the difference.

My mother and I will be there in 3 weeks and we'll have a 5 day hopper. This will change our commando tactics.

I don't understand why DL doesn't just use the finger scan machines like WDW. Those machines are pretty quick and should sove these problems.

Oh my! I hope that they have a good plan in place before March. Planning a vacation to DL is more confusing and stressful than planning for WDW ever was!

Why don't they install the finger scanner machines like WDW has? Of course, that would probably do away with the "one person park hopping for FP for the family" that they have now.

On another note: Is there a way to combine our ticket and our room key, or will we have to carry two separate cards? Are the tickets paper or plastic? Can I use my room key like a "Key to the World" card and charge everything back to my room?

We were there Oct 14-19 and never put names or signatures on our 5 day hoppers. I did see a CM ask for someone's military ID though.
This could really slow people down getting in for the wide right technique for Carsland- could end up way back!
