We are planning a trip with my daughter and her boyfriend for the fall of 2020. We can't share one room so we are looking for recommendations for the best overall value, should we just get two rooms somewhere basic or is it worth it to get a villa etc. I really need some ideas, I am at a loss what to do. Part of me thinks just get two rooms at Pop and get the dining plan, another part thinks maybe a Club level room somewhere and skip the dining. Any and all ideas are welcome.

I think first you have to decide what you want out of the resort. Spot to sleep or resort to relax.

We were value people for years and then jumped to DVC. We love sitting on balcony with morning coffee. Or sit talking while watching a fire burn. As you may have guess , we are no longer 12 hr park day people.

It is usually cheaper to get two rooms than a villa, especially if you get a value resort

Not the cheapest way to go, but we love the 2-bedroom villas. I like have 2 bedrooms, a living room, full kitchen and washer/dryer. I also love that they are all at deluxe resorts so offer deluxe amenities.

I've looked at villas but have never booked one. I shutter at the cost to not sleep in a real bed. I won't pay that much to sleep on a fold out. Not until you reach the $$$$$$$ level of a 2 bedroom would everyone in a party of 4 have a real bed. Now that our kids are moving up & out, we might could swing a studio for a party of 2...

I have this same situation coming up. My daughter wants to bring a friend to Disney next summer. I have plenty of time to plan but want to figure the best way to do it. Without a discount, I am feeling extreme sticker shock right now. Between room rates and ticket prices, Disney has gone up by a ton of money.

Thanks for the input so far, we have all been to the parks many times before so Jo-Jo we aren't ropedrop to kiss goodnight park dwellers anymore. And like shocker said it is difficult to ask my daughter and her man to spend a week sleeping on a pull out couch. So it looks like 2 rooms at a value or moderate or a 2 bedroom villa are my choices. So next question, best value for a 2 bedroom? Which resorts have the best 2 bedrooms for the best value?

Actually, the 1-bedrooms at BLT have memory foam mattresses on the pull-outs, and our adult son says they're every bit as comfortable as a hotel bed. Many of the other 1-bedroom villas have older-style sleeper sofas, so two rooms would probably be a better choice than one of those.

No, there are no older style sleeper sofas left in the villas. Just about every one is the memory foam on a platform. And they are not comfortable unless you like sleeping on a hard surface. For the OP, I'd get two rooms at a value resort if money is an issue.

Fall is a hyper competitive time for DVC points reservations, even 11 months out.
On points, the best, most likely values are usually OKW, SSR standard and Kidani standard.
BWV standard is very difficult to get in the Fall, the same for BLT standard. and the AKV value category is mostly a pipe dream to everyone.

A one bedroom is a bad idea because of the lack of comfort of the sofa bed and because of the lack of privacy. One couple would be sleeping in the living room. A two bedroom also compromises privacy to some degree. For this particular situation, I would suggest two separate rooms so each couple has complete privacy.

I found a Wildernrss Lodge deluxe room to be more cost effective than 2 rooms at a moderate. There is a close off bedroom, but the bed in the living area is a fold out if that matters. BUT- - it is club level!!
