We have 4 adults in room, each paying incidentals independently. They are under one reservation and will pool money for the room charge, but magic band purchases are separate. How do they do this, set this up at the desk, or divide it up at the end? They can each put a CC on file.

During online checkin just put one CC in for the lead guest. Then when you arrive stop at the front desk to get the rest of it set up.

Or don’t do online checkin and do it all at the front desk, but I always do it for fun.

As an FYI - don't be surprised if something goes wrong here. It is supposed to work - but both times I've tried it - it didn't work right the first day and we had to go back and get it fixed. Now - that was a few years ago - so maybe they are better at this now.

It didn't work for us last August. We did everything needed at check-in but all my nephew's charges still ended up on my card.

It didn't work for us either. Apparently, VERY FEW front desk managers know how to do this properly. With 4 adults, I would just forgo magic band charging and carry around a credit card to use for everything.

This did work for my boyfriend and I, but at least for us, at checkout ALL of the charges appeared on one room statement despite being charged correctly to each independent card. I would definitely try to check throughout your stay to be safe, but also wanted to say we were really confused by the statement at first so don't be alarmed if it looks crazy!

Get a printout before you check-out, it's easy to correct any errors before you leave the hotel. Everyone's charges went to my credit card, even though individual accounts were set up through the front desk. It was so involved, that they provided us a cab to the airport so we didn't miss our flight.

Same thing happened to me. My sister’s and my boyfriend’s charges all wound up on my card despite all having our own linked accounts.

Every trip, I worry because of how many people I see saying that they have issues with this.

However, every trip I go on, there are multiple people in one room, we all have different charge cards on our bands, and we've never had an issue. Everything goes to the card it's supposed to, we all get individual statements to our emails, and it's smooth.

Not saying that the issues aren't possible. Just that it doesn't always happen, as I've never had the issue in multiple visits.

Personally, our room is fine. It's my dtr's room and her friends. I would assume they could split the charges out based on the magic band used at the end. Even if it all went on one card, right?

DH & I had a family suite with my mom & MIL. I was afraid we would have problems, but all of the charges were properly made. We would go to concierge desk every couple of days and get print outs and pay the balances off.

My sister and I were at AKL in December, and we'd each linked our Magic Band to a different cc. Here's the odd thing: the first day, it did work. The charges on my band went to my cc. But, after that, all the charges went to my sister's card. She was the lead on the reservation. We had no idea this had happened until checkout day.

We did this in January at the Beach Club without issue. It was my mom (with her own CC), my sister (with her own CC) and then my son and I under my CC.

All of the charges went to the correct cards. I noticed that only my charges were viewable in MDE. My mother and sister saw my charges in their MDE even though they had their own accounts. However, they just went to the front desk to get a print out of charges and everything matched up.

Every single time I have tried to do this it has not worked. You will spend too much wasted time at the front desk trying to get this set up and then you will have to come back when you realize that it's not been done correctly. I am talking hours worth of time waiting in line, setting up, waiting in line, trying to fix it, repeat, lather, rinse....

Trying to read the Disney room charge bill to separate out the charges is a nightmare in and of itself.

No matter what anyone tells you, this will NOT be set up correctly and it is to be avoided like the plague.

Another complication is when the person reserving the room puts a credit card on file. You can ask the front desk to not allow your children or other people on the reservation to not be allowed to charge to that credit card but that has never been taken care of successfully for us either.

Disney says they can do all this but it is not to be believed.

I probably would forego MB charging as well, or else you could be wasting time at the front desk sorting this out if it goes awry. Another option would be for one friend to take on all the charges on his or her credit card, and have the other three friends pay that friend in cash for their share of charges. It would be annoying to go line by line on the receipt though and figure out who had what.

What we do when we arrive is buy gift cards and use those to pay with. It has the bonus of being able to easily track your spending and helps me stay on budget.

Excellent suggestion Sue.

I cut off the sticky strip from a post it note and put it on the gift card. Then at the register, I ask to borrow the CM's Pen and write the remaining balance on the post it sticky strip so I can see the declining balance. That way there is no confusion, especially when carrying multiple gift cards. You have to empty the first one before you start the next.

This is the way to go if it is a short trip, like 4 days or less. If you get any longer than that, you will trying to figure out who charged what way too far after the fact and most people have short memories when it comes to spending money.

I like that. Esp when I have cards left over from visit before and can’t remember what card balance is. Will save me from going to cashier on arrival with a hand full of cards asking for balances!
