I just saw a commercial for Sears. They are opening at 4 a.m. on Friday. Who, in their right mind, would get up to shop at this hour???

If I get up at 4 a.m., it's to go to the bathroom and then right back to bed.

Me....I'll be thinking of you!

DW works for another retail chain and she must be at work at 4:00AM on Fri.

I think I saw a ad saying that Old Navy was opening at 2 am
I was just going to post the same thing. I heard a cashier at Target yesterday say that Old Navy was opening at 2 a.m. It's getting more & more ridiculous every year. :guilty:

Toys R Us is opening at midnight. I am going out for BF.....it's the only day of the year I seem to be able to stay up all night anymore. You either Love it or Hate it.

Totally agree with you. Unfortunately I'll be getting up at 4am to make it to work (in a department store) on time. I lucked out and get to go in an hour AFTER open this year:rolleyes:
I really wish stores would open at normal hours. Customers need sleep, and it SHOWS. Last year we opened at 5 and by 5:30 a customer had all but attacked me, over a corporate coupon policy. Because you know that's a sales associate's fault

Instead of opening at crazy hours on Black Friday, why don't stores open an hour or two earlier starting the week of Thanksgiving? I know lots of people who would be happy to shop at 8:00 am everyday, all week.

only one thing i get up at 4 am for, and i cant say what it is.

I think it's ridiculous that the employees of these stores have to pretty much forfeit their holiday because of these openning times. They'd sell just as much if they all openned at nine.

I too think it is ridiculous. I feel sorry for those sales associates who not only have to put up with some desperate, violent and slightly loony customers, but also have to start work in the middle of the night. Sleepy minimum-wage workers, plus angry customers, equals problems all around :sad2:

You'd have to promise me a 50" top of the line HDTV with blu-ray and surround sound included....for a dollar. :lmao:

eta: Meant to add that ita SpecialK.

I'll be up and out and I can't wait! My mom and I black Friday shop every year and we LOVE it! The year before last I got my BEAUTIFUL $350 prelit Christmas tree for $75! We think it's fun and exciting and have never had a bad experience :goodvibes

That doesn't necessarily gibe with most shoppers' work schedules. If a store normally opens at 10 but instead opens at 8 and the shopper needs to be in work at eight...

Even on Black Friday, many people work a normal workday. Sure, lots of companies are closed but many are open as well. NOT that I'm going out at 3 AM, but opening extremely early enables even those of us who are working Friday to shop for deals.

I was toying with going out to Old Navy at 3am then hitting Target at 5 but I have snapped out of it. Old Navy's Sale runs all weekend so I will go Friday Night when no one is there.

As a former retail manager, the last place I want to be on Black Friday is any retail store.

Y'all that like it, have a great time! I would rather....
hang the outdoor Christmas lights
eat more turkey
visit friends that are in town

but I wouldn't do ANY of those at 2 am!

But please - have a great time, stimulate the economy, and enjoy yourself!

Best,

Mrs Spratt

Such as last year- Wal Mart and the TVs? That employee was trampled by those idiots wanting cheap TVs.:sad2:

I shall be asleep at 2am when Old Navy opens...

Heck, maybe someday I will go to see what it is like. MAYBE. Not this year.;)
