4.5 days at Disney or 4 days at Disney

My family (2 adults, 3 kids, 8yr, 6yr, 1yr) is planning our once in a life time trip Disneyland Thursday Oct 9 - Monday Oct 13. We will be getting off a cruise in Long Beach on Thursday so I'm guessing we won't make it to Anaheim until Thursday afternoon (depending on traffic and how soon we can get off the boat). Do you think the extra half day makes a difference at Disney? If we don't do Disney on that half day, we would probably just hang out at our vacation rental or sight see around LA before getting to Anaheim. What would you do?

Any time in Disney is worth it ! I would do the extra afternoon on Thursday, as the crowds are going to be there for the entire Columbus Day weekend.

Also notable that Friday is the Mickey Halloween party, so you will have to pay extra for admission on that evening, but it also means that the crowds may be quieter in DL during the day.

yes, do the extra half day. You will be getting off the ship in the morning and Long Beach is not that far from Anaheim...30 minutes maybe. You'll be at the parks for most of the day..

Driving around LA in the afternoon with traffic or go to Disneyland.. I would go do a half day at Disneyland.

Especially if it's truly 'once in a lifetime' trip to DL....add the 1/2 day! You'll need the extra time there.

Another vote for doing the half day! The more time one has in the parks, the more relaxed the rest of the trip can be. And the LA Fri traffic- ugh, I shudder at the thought!

Is there anything in LA worth seeing? Maybe the Hollywood sign. Outside of that, when I think SoCal, I think Disney. And adding another day to each ticket is just $15/person. That's just $60 for your family to spend and afternoon and evening at the parks. It's worth it - especially if you're getting there by around noon like a previous poster said.
