4/29/06 Eastern Magic...We're Going!!!!!

I don't want to disappoint anyone, but I didn't stay up all night. :cool1: Although I felt like I did! I woke up at 6ish(regular time) and booked. In fact, I am going to give Mermaid Patty a call to see if she can get hers too!

Anyway- Julie! We will be at Palo at 11am on Monday for brunch. We will see you there!

I remember Tom saying last year that you guys hung at the Palo bar once or twice. Do you know if that is something that is allowed and just kept quiet or was it just a one time thing?

Great day all!
PJ

PJ...he set his alarm on his cell phone and dozed on the couch until 3...so technically he didn't "stay up" until 3, although he says he feels like he did!

We went to the bar a Palo for a few drinks one night and had a great time...we had already eaten in the regular dining room, but wanted to check it out anyway and also do something different (other than Rockin Bar D). We just sat at the bar and the bartender chit chatted with us and made us his own special "concoctions" to drink. They did try to get us to eat, but when we politely refused, they had no problem with us just sitting at the bar drinking. We'll probably do it again at least once.

Just checking in, I guess it would have been easier trying to stay up if I had consuming a couple of beverages with friends, but this was just to get me in training for our all night drives to Florida for vacations. I was only able to book Palos for the people in our cabins, I was going to try to help out some of our friends, but to no avail.

PJ, there are only about 8 bar stools in Palo, as the Queen said the bar tender was excellent, and the manager did walk by us about 5 times asking if we were sure that we didn't want a table to eat. It was great, they said that nobody ever just shows up for a drink, so I just gave everyone one of my secrets, but it was cool so should be shared by everyone.

Well, I'm up, but not a pretty picture. Of course, the four teenage boys in our house are already bouncing off the walls! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We have brunch booked for 11:00 on Monday and dinner at 7:00 on Wednesday. Jen, Julie and Tom - looks like we will be having brunch together!

I also booked Captain Nautica's on St. Thomas and The Golden Eagle at St. Martin.

Julie

I'm encouraged by everyone's success in getting their reservations! We will be trying at the 75-day mark, like everyone else. I posted a message last night to introduce myself, but it was apparently not the right time, as everyone was trying the early call thing, which didnt work, and then trying again at 3, so now my post is buried, lol! You all sound like such a fun group! And this thread is HUGE!

So, I wanted to just introduce my little group that is going on the 4/29 Eastern with you all. My DH is not going :sad2: but it will by myself, DD (8), DS (12) and his buddy (12), and my friend from Atlanta and her DH (6). So just the girls and the kids, but it will be a blast!! She and I are the obsessive Disney planners for our families and friends locally (I'm north of Seattle) but this will be my first cruise ever! :yay:

I've been skimming the thread to try and catch up --crazy, I know-- and it sounds like there are a bunch of kids in the group around our kids' ages. Will there be some kind of DIS meet?

--Trish

Trish,

Since our official greeter (CG-Castle Gazer) only posts during the week, I will try my best   :yay: :scared1: :dancer: :worship: party: :welcome: It was a very busy night, all I can say is at least you can do it at midnight on the 75th day so that should be easier, than having to do it at 3 a.m. since you are on the west coast.

I do believe something as far as a meet will happen, just who knows where and when, the last time we went 2 years ago it was pretty neat to be able to see people throughout the whole cruise and sort of know them. In fact know them well enough to finish 3 bottles of vanilla stolis with them, but that is a whole nother story that if you read the whole thread you will find out.

This thing is going to start hopping so everybody get ready to become totally obsessed with the Disboards for the next 89 days, if it is anything like the last time it is going to be crazy

Tom pirate:

Rubysmom - Welcome aboard! :wave2:

I have a son who is 13 and a daughter who is 9. My niece who is 8 will also be there!

We haven't really discussed a meet yet - but I am sure it will come up later.

Welcome to the group!

OHJulie

Oh Julie- Brilliant minds think alike. :thumbsup2 We have Palo Brunch on Monday (10:30), Dinner on Wednesday 7:30. Capt. Nautica am and Catamaran Sail too.

I called this morning to talk to a CM about reserving the large room in Palo's for all the adults in our group for Brunch Monday( I was able to make ressies for 8, my reservation # and parents res. # but there are 12 adults and the rest are not CC members.) She said to Fax the request in to Inventory control. Well, based on my previous experience with getting different info. each time I call, I called again and this time the CM took my information and request along with my Phone # and said they will check the availability and call me back by the end of the week. I think I will go ahead with the fax tomorrow anyways but direct it to the name of the lady they said would call.

CG- for your next roll call, here are the ages of the kids with us,
girls- 3,9,9,10 boys 3,6,7,12.

MK - We will be seeing a lot of each other! We booked Captain Nautica for am, but the Golden Eagle is pm - is yours am or pm?

CG - I forgot to say how great it was that you guys are a GO for the cruise. I am so happy - you will have a great time.

We booked our transportation. We will be using Happy Limo. They have a Sprinter Van that will actually hold all 11 of us and our luggage. This was hard to find. Most companies had vehicles with enough room for the people, but we would have to pay for a seperate luggage vehicle.

Take care,

OHJulie :wave2:

You just wanted to get a photo like I have of a beer in hand at 8:30 a.m. didn't you???? :lmao:

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!!!!! You all took my spot on Monday for brunch!

I think the 3 am thing may pose to be more important for when I can book.

I will be back tomorrow with lots of time to kill so expect a barrage of welcome posts from me then - thanks Tom, for picking up the slack.

We're back! I have SOOOOO much to tell you all! What a great trip! I LOVE HAPPY LIMO!!! And the people we saw! OMG! I can't wait to tell you....but it will have to wait. WHAT A GREAT TRIP!!!!!!

I do have to say that I spent the last 15 minutes online booking our Palos (Sunday not Monday - boohoo!!), shorexs, etc. Ahhhhhh....feel better now.

CG you will be honored to know that your name came up on our list of accepted people to check Tori in and out of OC.......had to "Huh" at that one.....but, no, only daddy and I are allowed.....funny strange thing....

ps - WELCOME (don't know how they all do the really cool kind of signs) to everyone! You guys were BUSY while I was gone......once again, lots to tell and see....so, who do you think I ran into this weekend???? And who was on the eliptical trainer next to Ed Sunday morning at the health club????? And who was at the GF that we never saw because he stayed holed up in his room????? Ah-ha! These are the questions you will have to wait to hear the answers! I'm dying to tell you guys but such a long story....NIGHT ALL!!

Contrats to all you past DCL cruisers who had your Magical dreams come true with ressies. Can't wait to book ours, but alas, we have 15 more days to wait.

Welcome to all the newbies that are coming forward  Our group is growing.

Susie, can't wait to hear your stories and see some pictures. We need a little :sunny: and :Pinkbounc in our life. I'm sure everyone else, like me, is anxious to hear your tales....so bring them on.

Suzie...can't wait to hear who you saw...I LOVE all that celebrity stuff...I am a People magazine junkie!!!

I actually had a brush with a celeb yesterday too. Tom's Dad was skiing last week in Montana and was passing thru the Detroit airport yesterday (and had a three hour layover) on his way back home to North Carolina. Anyway, we went to pick him up and take him to dinner and while I was standing at the bottom of the escalator waiting for him, Steve Harvey (the comedian) got off the escalator with his entourage. He must be in town for the Super Bowl. You should have seen the airport...what a mess! It was crawling with Super Bowl groupies, Super Bowl employees passing out maps of Detroit and handwarmers (it was 50 degrees yesterday :rotfl: ) and tons of limo drivers holding their little signs up. My nephew wanted to hold up a sign that said Jerome Bettis!!! Unfortunately we didn't see any real "players"...

Good Morning, everyone! Good night's sleep will do a body wonders!!

Alrighty, let's get on with it.

The airport here was a breeze. Security didn't take forever and Ed didn't go off in the metal detectors. That's a new one for us! Ahhh.... Got to Orlando and proceeded to baggage claim to meet up with Gary from Happy Limo. He was there waiting and Tori ran to give him a big hug. She REALLY likes him! Anyway, he told me where the bags were coming in and we started walking. Then he told me he had a suprise for us. Wouldn't tell me anymore than that. Once we had our bags, he told us where to meet him while he went to get the car. We had 8 people in our party, so I had hired a stretch limo. The kids were so excited about being there and riding in a limo. They were really cute. After about 15 minutes, we hear WOW from the people next to us, who are getting settled into their passenger van. We turn to look and see a black stretch Hummer pulling up. Gary gets out and we are all standing there with our mouths open!! "Suprise" he says!!! TOO COOL! We all get in. There's 6 tv screens all playing Madagascar (he remembered how Tori loves that movie!). The kids are thrilled again! Pull up at the Grand Floridian and take pics (forgot to at the airport, we were so shocked!).
DSCN2931.jpg

Gary had to do a multiple pull in because of taxis, etc already there. Finally in at the curb (that sucker is huge!) and bellmen are already there to get our luggage. Get out, take our pics then proceed to check in. Missy is there to greet us before we get inside and takes us up in the concierge elevator. We check in with a few computer problems, etc. but all is done quickly and we are snacking before heading to MK. Wonderful day there, tired when we get back.

Next morning, Ed gets up and takes Tori down to the lounge for breakfast. I shower, etc. and am almost done when Ed comes back. He's laughing so I ask him "What?", He looks at me and says "Who is your favorite show host that you watch every morning?" I asked him why and he tells me to guess who. I say Regis Philbin and he says guess again. I said Kelly Ripa and he says "Yes and she's in the lounge with her kids!" I drop everything and run out the door! Calm down, don't make a scene.....Yup, there she is! Tori is dressed as Jasmine for the Princess Breakfast (YES, we got it!!) and Kelly fusses over her but Joaquin (her youngest) just gives Tori a "raspberry" when Kelly asks him if he thinks she's cute. What a handful! I'm just in awe that she's really there!!!! Very slim/skinny but very pretty without make-up! She really looks good!!

That's over and we have our morning at MK,
DSCN2999.jpg

come back for naps/pool, then head over to EPCOT. We're whooped today.

Sunday looms early for me. Ed decides he want to workout this morning and wakes me up at 5:45 to tell me. Ugh....go back to sleep but Tori wakes me at 6:30. After 30 minutes, I give up on getting her back to sleep, so we get up and dress to get breakfast. Get some food and sit down with daddy (met him in the hallway coming back). He tells me what an exciting morning it's been. He was doing cardio on the eliptical trainer and someone came up on the one next to him. He glanced over a few minutes later. It was Barry Manilow! Ed's not a huge fan of his (not his style of music) but what a person to work out next to! Tells me about this while we're eating and up walks Kelly and kids again! She looks over at us and says hi and strikes up a conversation! SHE DID - not me this time! I was gonna try to play it cool if I saw her again, you know, just nod and wave, since the first time I was a mess! Gosh, I felt like a dorky tourist although all I said was Hi and love your show. So, this time we had a nice little conversation - she's just as nice as can be! - and then we left to go get cleaned up for the day. Told her to have a good day and enjoy her visit.

Got cleaned up and packed. Tori was sad to leave - aren't we all?! - but did good with it. She has a horrible time leaving and saying goodbye. Not just WDW but anytime. Not sure what's up with that but we're working on it. Our rooms had the most spectacular, awesome view. Pictures can't capture how great it was, but we tried.
DSCN3015.jpg

Tori saying good-bye to Magic Kingdom.

So, we head over to MGM for the day before our flight leaves that night. Have a great time but Tori is a bit bushed. She and I stay off on our own, doing things she wants while the others do things she down't want to or can't because she's too small. Rumor is that Aerosmith is there today....never saw them. Ed would have been the babbling idiot instead of me then....well, I would be too...

Tori loves to get autographs and she sees the Toy Story 2 gang when we get out of Muppet 3D. Get those and Tori starts shouting "Mommy, look!" Takes me a while but I see the Green Army Man walking around. A few more come out and they have a mock war in the area - running around and stuff. Very fun to watch. One of them comes over to Tori and bends down to use her safari binoculars from AK we bought last trip.
DSCN3042.jpg

What a great day, but all things come to an end. We eat dinner at '50's Prime Time then head back to the GF to get our luggage and meet up with Gary. He hits a bit of traffic but gets there only 5 minutes late. I had to run to the shop while we were waiting to get our photo CD. Takes a while cause they had to reboot the system (computers, ya' know). I look around while I'm waiting and there's Kelly and kids again! She sees me and waves to me! WOW!!! Then I see the rest of her family there (grandparents, sister, aunt, nephew and nieces). They're shopping and they've now closed the store for them (I'm still in here!!) Kelly had told me that she was here with her family vacationing but no Mark (he was filming his show) so imagine my suprise when the cashier right next to me asks Mr. Consuelos if there was anything else he needed! RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!! 3 feet away! He laughed at the man (there was a load of stuff for all the kids there!!) and tells him, no that should be enough and he doesn't need to call him by his last name, Mark is fine. He's actually better looking IRL than on tv. He looks over at me, smiles and says hi. Kelly comes over to say something to him, then looks at me, asks how Tori was and did she have a good day. Then says goodnight and takes the kids (dressed in their pjs) back upstairs. The store clears out and opens back up. I just look at the clerk there, dazed. We laugh and have a nice chat where he tells me about some of the people that stay there (Johnny Depp, all the time! NFL players, etc.) and the special/vip treatment they get. Then he tells me that Wayne Newton is there too, but he doesn't really come out much. They have special escorts for some of them (Johnny Depp gets mobbed, Aerosmith gets mobbed, etc) so they have side doors, etc. for them. Makes sense. But what a TRIP! Celebrities, a great hotel, fun times, great weather......just wish it could have been longer....BUT April is not too far away!!!

Sorry this is so long, but it was fun. I'm off to do laundry, etc. Good thing Tori didn't have school today.....

WOW! How cool! Don't you feel like such a kid when you see these people? Senators, Congressmen, no big deal (see them all the time) but tv personalities - WOW! NFL players even better!

WOOHOO!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Suzie...I was just going to guess that you saw Kelly Ripa because she was just talking about being at the World this weekend and then I see your AWESOME post and it is true...YOU MET KELLY RIPA!!! I LOVE KELLY RIPA!!!!!!!!!! I AM SOOOOOOOO JEALOUS!!!!!!! Funny thing is that Regis was talking about being in Vegas last week and going to the Barry Manilow concert and singing on stage with him!!!

Sounds like you guys had a great trip!!!

PhillyJen2006-

This is off the topic but I have been reading this thread a lot recently as we will also be on the April 29th cruise. :yay:

Every time I see your picture in the signature I think I know one of the CM's in it. Was that by chance taken at the Polynesian? One of my friends from high school moved down to Orlando many years ago and originally worked at Animator's Palette but now works at the Polynesian. I haven't seen him in years and your picture looks a lot like him. He would be the one on the left (he is Cambodian). I was just curious since I keep seeing it so I thought I would ask.

Thanks!
