4/29/06 Eastern Magic...We're Going!!!!!

Mom2- My niece and nephew are 3. Jenna loves Dora and Ryan is obsessed with Thomas th Train. They both love Disney. My sister can't wait to see their faces when they meet the characters as this will be there first Disney trip.

Suzie- I'm a Kelly fan too. I always watch their show on my days off. Lucky you.

Won't be in Cocoa Beach Fri. We'll be eating at Ohana's Friday night before the cruise celebrating Jared's 7th Birthday. (We'll be celebrating 3 more birthdays on the cruise.) We plan to drive over to the port first thing Sat. morning to get that #2 ;) ticket to board.

Lots of exercising going on from the sounds of it. I've been doing pretty well myself with that. I decided to start going to the college Gym for something new and try out some of the machines. Well, the first day i hopped on the Eliptical (first time ever). I entered the info it asked for and started moving. Out of the corner of my eye i was watching the person beside me and something didn't seem right. I realized I was "walking backwards" Hopefully no one noticed or thought that was what I meant to do.

Formal Night- Needed a gown for Meghan, so we went to some shops on Saturday. $140++++ for a little girls dress, for one night, no way. My sister had told me to check out ebay, she got her daughters dress there and some of their power sellers who sell new dressses. We got a beautiful new Burgandy gown for $40. Much better.

Hi all-

Just a quick check in-- Finally booked all my reservations TODAY. Really no problem, except the spa.. could not get the time I wanted, but got in just an hour later.
Not sure about Friday night yet.. We only arrive in Orlando at 4:00pm, and we need a grocery stop (NOT for groceries!!.. booze, of course)

We won't have a car either, getting a town car... staying at the Hilton. But.... we were thinking about going to the Pier! :thumbsup2

We'll check in closer.

-Sue

We are staying at Pop Century
We really like PC too! Tori loves the pools and I love the location of them! We've stayed there twice and it gets my vote for best value resort.

Okay everyone. Dr appt went fine but I am such a dork. It's too early to tell! He just laughed at me when I asked if we were testing today. I have about another week and then I can. All excited for nothin'! Sorry folks. :sad2:

Have a thought for the day -

People spend so much money on bottled water. At Disney, it can cost $2.50 for one 20 oz bottle. We spend lots to put chemicals into it from the natural source to make it drinkable in our homes, then pay to filter it to take the chemicals out so that it tastes like spring water!

Evian is the highest selling brand. Did you know that Evian spelled backward is NAIVE?!

:scratchin How am I supposed to keep up with all this action if I could barely do so before?? LOL Quick question for everyone....How do you know which day will be the character breakfast for you ahead of time. I'm trying to figure out when to do our Palo brunch. Wanting to do it either day 2 or 3. We're on the late dinner seating if that helps. Thanks for any help!
Mom2--We're probably staying at the Pop for 2 nights ahead of time as well. We've been there 3 times now....It's wonderful. Great clean and new rooms. We always stay in the 50's, top floor, overlooking the lake. Did you know you can see all the fireworks show from the balcony there? So, if for some reason you're not watching them up close and personal just step outside your room for your own little show. Also, we're in cabin 2068, so just up the hall a bit. I also read it was good for seasickness. There's someone else here who is in the cabin right next to us I think...can't remember who right now.
Suzie--Sounds like an awesome trip! That's so exciting to see Kelly and that she was so nice. I've always hoped to run into Drew Carey there. I've heard he's a big disney fan...as well as John Stamos. Of course if I happened to see him I'd probably be one of those stupid people who runs into a wall because I'm staring at him in a daze....lol.
CG--Sending you a PM right now...Thanks!

::yes:: I did know that and I also know it doesn't come from France.
Good thought for the day, though. The people here in Worcester fight like madpeople not to have flouride in the water so I have to pay big bucks to have Flouride in my kids vitamin drops.

OK - we will shut up about DR's and tests for a week or so now. I was just checking in to see what happened.

Sue, you were the one I knew was closer to the pier. mketting, I thought you were out on the coast for the night. Hmmmmmmmm. OK - lets see who else is out there, but I think this might be it. Pat, you're staying in WDW that night right?

and if were on top of keeping track of this like I said I would - and I will do it - I could tell you, but alas - I have not kept up with it yet. I will devote some time to it inthe near future.

I just sent Suzie a PM also saying that I am having some problems with my e-mail here at home tonight, I can't get into the Verizon site for some reason, so I will send the spreadsheet tomorrow morning first thing.

I do this all the time. Today I was besides someone from work and I was doing the backward thing on purpose and then almost fell off trying to go forward again. Yeah, that was cool. :guilty:

There will be quite a few Thomas trains on-board with us if he needs a fix at any time. We travel with them everywhere. Let him know that the current list to take is Emily, Thomas (Of Course), and some ancillary ones - but it changes every day.

I donated this giant Dora doll from work to our day care and it is the most beloved thing in their room. The kids take that thing everywhere. Every three-four year old in there is a huge fan.

PC un-fan here. But I think I like it the best of all the values. I had a miserable experience there with the CMs.

Jewelgrrl is right...how to keep up. You miss a day or two and your lost. Whats it going to be like in a month or so. I'm going to have to start keeping notes as I read the posts so that I can put my 2 cents worth in. My friends and coworkers have started calling you guys "The Others", cuz I talk about you. They can't understand the addiction to this thread.

Susie, my good vibes will be with you and Ed for the next week. Hope your dreams come true.

As to the children in our group....My 4 year old niece is all about Dora. My 7 year old granddaughter is all about Lizzy McGuire AND Disney, but she still carries a baby doll around and has birthday parties for it. My 16 year old nephew is wondering if they will be any teens. Anyone know? Hes afraid he'll be all alone. And my 25 year old son wants to know about the single scene and nightlife.

CG, we'll be at Trend West for the week before, so no, we won't be at Cocoa the night before, but would love to meet you sometime during the week.

And oh yea....made the last payment today. The Cruise is PAID IN FULL :cheer2: One more thing off my list.

MKetting, $140.00 for a dress. My daughter and I haven't shopped for the formal stuff yet for my DG. I guess we're going to have sticker shock or maybe get the old sewing machine out.

PartyPat princess:

Partypat - my DS is 13, not close to 16, but he is a teenager. My niece who is also 13 will be on the cruise. I am sure that she will be using my DS to get close to the boys, so watch out! :rotfl2:

We will be staying at the Marriott at MCO Friday night - our flight does not get in till 9pm.

The kids in our group are as follows:

DS - 13
DD - 9
Nieces - 13, 8, 5

I'm off to Chicago today - dinner with the boss tonight, so I probably won't be able to check in again today. Looks like I will have a lot of catching up to do when I get home!

OHJulie :wave2:

Hi gang! Never fear about the formal dresses! First things first-it will be after Easter and even though I needed to have everything done well before the cruise-I found the best deals and the prettiest dresses after Easter-CHEAP! I got both my girls Talbots dresses on sale in the middle of April. That was after I had purchased the entire dress departments of both Macy's and Lord and Taylor for them. After all was said and done(and taken back) I could have saved myself LOTS of time and energy just waiting until after Easter in the first place! And Target always has adorable little girls dresses that will also go on sale after Easter! Don't forget the Disney Store-we also have 2 formal dresses from Disney that were light blue satin-Katie's had a pouffy tulle bottom with Cinerella embroidery at the bodice and Hannah's is a sheath- a bit older looking but still with the same embroidery. Those were $50.00 regular price and after Easter- I got them for $19.00 each!

For your viewing and planning pleasure:

This was formal night

If you look closely- you will see the Belle and Rella family as well as members of the Pango family.....
This was semi formal

And since I am on a roll- a few photos of the day!
In case those of you traveling with young children do during the day while you are enjoying the $80.00 case of beer delivered to you by Jamaica James:
IMG_1046.jpg
Keep in mind- this was at the Mickey pool-Deck 10 directly under the speakers....They were whooped!

Before I get carried away- gotta go get Hannah to the bus! It is raining and miserable here so the little tropical pick me up was much needed on this side of town!

Have a great day all!

Formal night for kids can go either way. Tori wore a pretty Target sundress one night and a hand-me down flower girl dress for another night. Some girls just wore pretty sundresses and the boys just wore shirts with ties. We did have one little guy wearing a tux at the table next to us - what a cutie! But, I didn't see one child that didn't look good. Didn't matter what they wore. So, if you don't get the perfect thing, don't sweat it.

The other people at our table didn't dress up at all. They wore dresses but nothing fancy, while we had pulled out the big guns! Looking back, I wish I had just worn a really pretty cocktail dress - easier to pack and stuff! But it was fun. Not many occassions to wear formal wear anymore.

CG Your PM box is full but send it whenever you can. No rush. Thanks!!!!!

PartyPat I'll be sending that stuff to you today or tomorrow. Glad you want it!!

We are anxiously awaiting our first 7-Night Cruise, having done a 3 and a 4 night!

It is DH, DS 13 and DS 10. Neither boy is into girls "yet".

Our router broke down on Sunday so I couldn't book Palo until yesterday. I wanted brunch on Monday, but 10:30 Sunday was all that was left - not sure about Thursday, we are doing dinner there that night.

We live about 1 hour north of Philly. We're a Category 5 on the ship. Also interested in maybe doing am Golden Eagle in St. Martin.

You all seem to be having a great time already! I read these boards more often than post but I've really learned alot!

BTW I work in a health club and people go backwards on the elliptical all the time.

I agree, but I don't know which way we will swing this time around - we have sooooooooooooooooooo much stuff to pack with the two kids, one of which takes a ton of diapers and whatnot. On our Honeymoon we rented a tux from the ship and that was great!!!! So easy. This will all be last minute decisions.

I will do some spring cleaning on my in-box, sorry about that.

As for dresses for the kids - I bought all mine at sales last year. Wait, do what Jen is suggesting. I also did the Talbots sales last spring, but then I returned them as I found this amazing second hand store and bought Catrina her formals there and Quinn, well, I got him his ties and formal shirts and now I have to figure out if I will add a suit jacket to it. He does formal well. No complaints.

Pat, I am planning on doing Whispering Canyon Cafe on Thursday night - so you and Suzie and I think ohsodisney, who can't check in right now, will also be over there. We could all meet up that night.

WOA, while I was posting a newbie came out from lurking - HEY THERE LISA D!!!!!! :welcome:  :yay:

Pat, I am planning on doing Whispering Canyon Cafe on Thursday night - so you and Suzie and I think ohsodisney, who can't check in right now, will also be over there. We could all meet up that night.
We won't be getting in until Friday. Originally we were going to be at WL but decided to try POFQ for Friday, then after the cruise we are staying at WL - Con for two days to "de-stress" from the cruise (whatever!) and have some time before we get home. BUT I would love to meet up with you guys on Friday if at all possible! Let us know, and it won't hurt my feelings if you say no. I know you can't do everything! Not enough time in the day, that kind of stuff.

Welcome, Lisa D! Glad to have you here!

:goodvibes Your family and ours will have plenty of time prior to and during to get to know each other.

Your plans have changed - I knew about the POFQ change, but I think doing the concierge at the end of the cruise will be AWESOME! What a way to end a wonderful vacation. You all are getting some serious mileage out of your APs.

I probably won't be able to get back over to Orlando to meet up on Friday, though. I want that day as my de-stress day - and a pick up diapers day, shell-seek day, see the rockets day, eat crabs day, hit Ron Jons day........... yeah, well, maybe that de-stressing may not be happening, but, nevertheless, I won't be in WDW to see all you lucky people on Friday. My WL reservations are for Wednesday night - a change for me too, but I had to fly in that day to get the $109 roundtrip airfare, so what's a day more of vacation time? So I thought that staying that night then going out to the beach for two nights sounded like the best plan.

anyone else want to join up on Thursday with the castlegazer family? Or Friday with the Suziemva family? Or Friday for dinner out on the coast?

OK - I am an.... well, I can't say it here.... but man, I just sink at keeping up too. I totally missed this and you are right to be offended rubysmom because I did miss your post over the weekend.

So, I wanted to just introduce my little group that is going on the 4/29 Eastern with you all. My DH is not going :sad2: but it will by myself, DD (8), DS (12) and his buddy (12), and my friend from Atlanta and her DH (6). So just the girls and the kids, but it will be a blast!! She and I are the obsessive Disney planners for our families and friends locally (I'm north of Seattle) but this will be my first cruise ever! :yay:

Man, I feel really bad. I am sooo sorry. I was just going back seeing what everyone got for ressies and found your post in among all the hype. Tell your friend that I went to Emory and my best friend lives in Alpharetta.
