Suzie,

You can't have a snack at 11:30 without listing what kind of drink goes with it. Also, you have to put 12:30 watch the Ly downs (Lions) play in their only nationally televised game of the year. Actually it is their only one every year. I guess that is why it is important to list what we will be drinking, so that I may have something to drown my sorrows.

Tom pirate:

Wow Susmva...I want to come to your house too.......what a line up. Oh and by the way we tolerate Napa wines. Theres a lot of competion (the fun kind) between the two counties (Napa and Sonoma). We're always trying to outdo each other in our awards and wine auctions for charity. We're having a fried turkey too.

And Castlegazer.....catered food? Where do I signup? That sounds like a way to get out of all the work, but I guess you have to say it would be lacking in the comraderie of fixing the meal together and the cleanup.

PartyPat

If I may ask... what is a MARYLAND bloody mary? Is it a different kind or is it a womans name? I'm asking because my DH LOOOOVES them. The spicier the better.

Party Pat keep up the good work. I think the contest starts with just the past two weeks. So keep us updated from here on out.

Kids with us on the cruise: DD 9, DS 7, other girls 3,8,9 other boys 3,7 13. We are all on deck 6, midship.

We head to my In-laws tomorrow. We are supposed to eat at 1:00 translation 2:30. :confused3 After being asked to make a dessert and then buying all the ingredients, making a practice one (never made this pie before) I was told not to bring dessert, but to bring 2 other things instead!! Now because it is supposed to snow we've gotten 3 calls about driving. It's only an 1 1/2 trip. I love them but Lord they drive me crazy!!!!

Hi Mketting
Which way are you heading ? Stop by :moped: . We are going to my Moms and I think we will need a drink after that one too :drinking1 .
We are on deck 6 also but more towards the front on the ship . At first when I looked my paper sadi deck 2 room 2012 or something like that , then I forgot I upgraded to an outside porthole . I got a bit scared there !!! LOL . We have an adjoining room . I am hoping someone needs it and we get upgraded to a balcony , fat chance of that happening I'm sure .
I have never made a pie before either , DH is quite a chef and I am a clean freak so it works out well .

Maryland Bloody Mary is made with Blue Crab Bay Co "Sting Ray" (Spicy Bloody Mary mixer with Ocean Clam Juice - direct from the label). I don't know why but they just taste so much better than any of the others! Unfortunately, the store we would buy it from has since gone out of business and I can't find it around anymore. Alas, this is our last bottle, so a fond farewell will said....(again, insert head hang).

Tom, hopefully, the wine and drinks will be flowing into our "snack" time. Sorry, I'm just not a beer fan, but I do like Tequiza's...hmmm, add that to list to have friends bring. Sorry about the Lions. I'll be thinking of you when we're watching the game.....I don't really care who's playing, just that it's football! That's such a tradition for us! Hoping to watch the Texas/Texas A& M game (Friday) since it affects Penn State's standings.

Got some snow tonight! WOW! Very weird, wasn't expecting it, but it is pretty cold out. So, everyone snuggle in and get a good night's sleep!

Ok It is VERY late-my DD and I just got done making our last pie for tomorrow! But a few comments...

First.....6 PAGES since last time I checked????GOD I SUCK!!!!

Welcome Steve- The only other dude besides TT and BTJ-HGP will be on shortly!!!!

I only lost like .4 lbs this week..... does that count???

CG-I am a Harry Potter ADDICT!!! I guess that makes me a geek too! Read all the books within minutes of them coming out etc..... But the funny thing is...that really doesn't fit my profile. I will let you all be the judges! Anyway, my girls want to see the Yours Mine and Ours movie and my hubby(knowing me) said he'd tak the girls and I could go see HP by myself.... I declined because everyone goes back to school and work next week and I can go by myself anyway. I can't wait.

Oh and I have a funny purse story-actually I have several....my life centers around swearing at myself for grabbing the wrong purse. I need to have completely duplicate purses with all credit cards swimming around in the sea of receipts in every purse. That way I will always have what I need. Anyway-one day when I was working I had gone to in to NJ. For those of you who don't know, they let you in for free but charge you $3.00 to leave. I had realized(before EZPASS) that I forgot my purse as I was about to cross the bridge back into Philadelphia. So picture me -in my heels-on the bridge at the toll booth- crawling ALL over my truck(I had a Hummer at the time-worked for GM it was a company car....) looking for change under EVERY seat, between seats....in my heels and skirt. I unfortunately only came up with about $1.50 I had to basically BEG the guy to let me back into PA-gave him this whole LOOONNNGGG sob story blah blah blah.....he is just looking at my like "you crazy lady.....here fill out this form and mail in your thing. So maybe it was only funny to me because they apparently have a plan for things like this but I acted like I was the first person in history no to have $3.00....

AndHappy Anniversary SuzieMVA BTW-Are you a Paula Deen junkie??? Those 11 oclock recipes sound vaguely(like I saw that episode like 9 times this week alone) familiar!!! I made the Sweet Potato Balls from that same episode(with the marshmellows) for tomorrow! She must have a cholesterol problem.....and her sons are kind of freakish! She is growing on me. Must be all that bacon fat and butter!!! :rotfl: Oh- they sell that Bloody Mary mix in Annapolis-it is yummy. We bought a few bottles when we were there this summer.

Ok- and since I am going for an Olympic length post- Lumiere's for breakfast on day 2....For you cruising newbies-there is even a bar cart that comes around at breakfast. I asked for a bloody mary and told them that I like it spicy- our cute little waiter said "How Spicy"? Oh I like spicy- he said...."Be right back"....he was gone for a few minutes and came back with THE best bloody mary-I shutter to think what the "special ingredient" was but MAN was it good! We ate breakfast at Lumiere's as much as we could-SO much better and almost as fast as Topsiders.

I worked for 11 years and recently became a SAHM-I am now a food TV Junkie and so are my kids(my DD got Rachael Ray's kids cookebook for Xmas). Anyway-my awesome hubby(the famous Headgear Pat) bought my mom and I an awesome bottle of wine for tommorows dinner.....Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay.....Yikes....we better enjoy it! sssslllloooooowwwwlllyyy! If I wasn't cuddled up on the couch with my laptop(it's morning now-I am editing the message to make more sense!) and a cup of Snickerdoodle coffee I would go into the basement and check which county!

Happy Thanksgiving All! I am so busy typing cause I have my 7 year olds MP3 player on my headphones and I am loveing it.....dancing around the house......god I am a dork!!!

TT-I have been known to take my bra off at inappropriate times. At my girlfriends wedding-I didn't like the bra so I took it off in the limo and waved it around out the sunroof(don't know why-seemed like a smart idea at the time :rotfl2: )....this was in Syracuse...turns out the limo driver was a customer of mine-the service manager at East Syracuse Chevrolet.....EEEEKKKKKKK! And the worst was that when the pictures came back from the photographer...VERY evident that I was braless!

Happy Thanksgiving All
PJ

I just re-read my post from LATE last night and wow- what a few glasses of wine will do! I really can spell...

I failed to mention a big Congrats to the Big Losers from last week! Mine has stalled, but I suppose that Thanksgiving week, a stall is good enough for me.

We are going to have a quiet Thanksgiving this year, which is always nice once in awhile. Given my BIL's propesnity to ruin any family event he attends....it is probably going to be really nice!

I just have this feeling that there is SOMETHING else I should be doing...table is set, veggies are chopped for the stuffing(my FAVORITE thing on Thanksgiving), pies are made(which is an amazing feat considering my condition last night-we did break the crust all over the counter but I will blame that on Hannah! :rotfl:), side dishes are made???? Maybe I am ready!

Happy Thanksgiving All! Many Blessings.

hee-hee! You found me out!!! I LOVE PAULA DEEN!! I actually did get to meet her at WDW last trip from the food and wine festival. Being born from a good ole' southern boy, I've grown to love southern cooking (Not grits, though! Yuck!) I think she has the neatest story and it's really cool that her boys and brother work with her in the business. And they are just soooo cute! And they have the most beautiful wives! DH told me that we will go to Savannah one time soon so that we can go to her restaurant. I did buy two cookbooks and get them autographed by her and her boys.

Thanks about the BM Mix! Annapolis isn't too far! I have friends that go every month or so to visit relatives, so I can ask them to pick it up for me.

Thanks, PJ!!! And what self-respecting woman actually enjoys wearing a bra?!?!?!

Bye Everyone

We off to the hotel :jumping1: , are plane leaves at 6:20 so we are staying at a hotel near the airport . YIPPY YIPPY YIPPY

Seems funny to hear all these plans for Thanksgiving. We celebrate up here the middle of October. Spreads things out a bit between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hope you all have a great weekend.

girlfriend - you have a friend in me. But I would have you know that you can't look at me and tell I am obsessed either.

My husband is getting a little peeved at me right now about it - I used to only be obsessed with the books, saw the movies, but didn't HAVE to own them. I went out Saturday and bought the two that I didn't own because now I am suddenly obsessed with the movies after GOF. The reason why my hubby is getting peeved is that its a Daniel Radcliffe thing - he is getting to be soooo cute and well, I have two more years before this isn't just creepy that I just said that.

Been there - done that!

Clearly you missed our Paul Dean discussion.

Suzie, all women from Savannah are gorgeous - my roomate in college is from Savannah. Its one of my favorite places in the world and I love GRITS! I also make a mean Sausage gravy and biscuits.

Yup - I have seen it up here too. I will keep my eyes peeled. My DH is a huge Blood Mary fan.

My son LOVES FoodTV! I swear he is going to be a chef. We are junkies too whenever we are home I allow the TV to be turned on with that on.

OK - so clearly from my last post I am back! Had a Happy Thanksgiving - hope everyone else did too.

We got tons of snow! It was awesome. Thursday morning we went out sledding. Then Saturday we got more and went sledding again. I LOVE snow!

My souless Thanksgiving wasn't so bad - lots of homemade apps that made up for it. But no TV's so it was a bit bland in excitement.

My Friday with my Mom was awesome - much more my speed - we made Duck and had all my favorites then. Mom knows best!

OK - so that's about it. Now, must get to work.

anyone home?

oooffff......just got off the treadmill - 3.2 miles / 60 minutes...have to go weigh in today. Had too much going on yesterday to weigh in. Will post results later.

Okay, Thanksgiving went great. We had snow the night before so it was nice and cold on Thursday. The food was awesome and I only gained 4 ounces from it!!! Not great but very good for holiday eating! We ended up watching the parades and football and snacked the whole way. So my 3 pm dinner ended up being a 6 pm dinner! The turkey only took 52 minutes to cook and it was awesome!!! I think it was the best yet! We played Mexican Train dominoes in the off time. I was winning for a long time then hit a snag and ended up 3rd out of 4. Bummer.....but it was so much fun! Dave brought a fantastic wine from the Coppolla vineyard. I wish I could remember what it was. We want to order a few bottles but they only ship in cases of 6. If we do, I'll try to save some for the cruise! And I don't really like red wines, but I like this one!

Anyway, just found out that Ed will be gone next week (leaves on the 8th) and probably won't be back until the 17th. He's going to miss Tori's preschool Christmas program (bummer is the spring program is when we're on the cruise!), our church program (I'm in the choir singing. Good program, very contemporary) and the Leadership party for our church that I am the POC and decorator for! Probably will work the thing together and then not even go to enjoy it! Would feel funny without Ed there. Oh, well, we'll see. Still can't believe he'll be gone that long. They are trying to hurry and get their Palm Beach house together so that they can have their family down for Christmas. With the recent sale of their Big House,
easter_merrywood.jpg
they really don't have a house (the one in Maine isn't ready for guests yet) except this one to have the amount of family in. Just better not ruin my Christmas! She even wanted Ed to go down to PB for the day to check things out the day before Thanksgiving!!! Glad he was able to talk her out of it!! He really does have a good job (most of the time) it's just times like this that it drives us both insane - especially since he warned her that the way the renovations were going, it would probably not be ready in time. So now everyone is busting tail and working OT! I tell you, that Christmas bonus better be good!!!

OK - I may be slow on the uptake or completely a skimmer, but let me figure this out. Ed is in general contracting? He is building/renovating a house for people in Palm Beach? Is he also building one in Maine for them? These people sound like the guys I work for, my Chairman of our Board has a Palm Beach house and a Maine house. My direct boss, the CFO has a huge house in Maine, but not one in Palm Beach - but he does have one in Sarasota. There's a big gap in the CFO's and the Chairman's salary versus mine and I am not too low on that totem pole but apparently I am salary wise because my little cape would fit in their car barns of their second and third homes.

My husband will be gone for a week in January. I am getting him back by travelling for work for three days at the end of that month down to Atlanta to go figure out why our real estate locations seem to stink down there.

Tori must go to a Christian pre-school. Ours was founded by a church but is completely secular so no Christmas program, but that would be sooo nice to have. I really wish he could be in a Christmas program but even our church - we go to a Catholic Parish (I am Lutheran [did I mention I love beer? - full blown German here], though but we are raising the kids Catholic [Martin Luther must be rolling over in his grave right now]) doesn't have a pe-school children's Christmas program but they do have a pre-school program on Sundays.

Good job on the weight maintenance and awesome job on the 60 minutes on the tread mill - I have never been able to do that, no matter if I was competing and training or not. I am a short burst type runner but I always lose the most weight when I start jogging again. So keep up the good work because it will totally pay off for you.

As for me, my pants are fitting better this week, but that is about it.

Oh, and my very naive wine tase buds love Coppola wine too.

Oops! Sorry, I thought I told you what he does. He's and Estate Manager. He manages private residences for a family. One family. Right now, that is. Once his job finalizes in May, he will start his own company doing the same thing he does now, only for multiple families. He's made good contacts working for them and they want to keep him on part time but really just don't have enough to keep him busy full time. The house they sold was 38,000 square feet - including the seperate pool house. Ed's office used to be the 2 BR apt over the 4 car carriage house. Now they bought a townhouse in McLean to store the furniture from the house and that's his office now! Geez! From 2BR apt to a whole townhouse (that BTW is bigger than my house!). Yes, money is nice, but it's not everything. I've seen some very unhappy people since Ed took this job. Not necessarily the owners but people they associate with.

Yes, Tori goes to a Baptist church. OUr church is non-denominational but leans toward Baptist.

Oops! Gotta go, Tori's playdate friends are here! Bye!

We did the green wristbands for our 11/12 Magic cruise. It was great because we wore them all week (wearing the same tshirt all week could get a tad smelly). I had them made up at a place called reminderband. They are online. We couldn't use the "Disney" name, so ours said "DIZNEY CRUISE 11/12/2005" They come in 3 sizes and have to be ordered in multiples of 20. We ended up with 20 small, 40 med & 20 large. I had them in hand within 2 weeks of ordering. Then I had each DISboarded pm me so I could give them my address & they sent me a check to cover the cost as well as a SASE so that I could mail them back so we could all have them on in the terminal. It worked wonderfully well!!

what do you guys think? I just saw this over on this cruise board.

I will check it out on line now. be back with a review.

OK - this is cool. I have gone and checked it out and priced out 80 large adult bands and 60 kids bands (have to order in multiples of 20) and they are having an anniversary sale and the bands each cost $1.00 - YUP $1.00!. So the total would be $140 for everyone - $1 per band! No shipping charges either! How cool is that! We currently have by my quick counting 72 adults and 50 kids (someone may want to go and count for me again to make sure I did this right).

You can have two sayings on it. Just for S&Gs I put on (on a neon green band) [please also discuss the saying too as mine is pretty lame]

Magic's Biggest Loser
4-29-05

So, do you all want to do this? I think it works better than pins, butons or shirts which are a pain in the **** to put on every day, whereas my DH and I tend to wear these memory bands a lot. I also do not know how long this anniversary pricing will last - whether we should do this now or wait until we are sure of our count.

Oh and for $0.25/per band you can infill the wording with colors and the cool part is that they have a glow in the dark option for this infill coloring. OK - now I am just going nuts here.

OK - just call me procrastination central today at work. OK - I open it up for discussion.......................................

CG - I love the green band idea. count us in. Another idea for the wording could be "May Day Magic" - I think that May 1st is May Day ins't it?

Or just the date and "Dizney Magic".

Biggest Loser weigh in - Down 1 pound!
I was very good - skipped the Pumpkin Pie! Did manage to drink quite a bit of wine though!

Thanksgiving was great up unitl the point when we determined that I needed to spend the weekend with my Mother and Stepfather. He had back surgery and my mom just could not handle it(early stages of dementia). So there I was at 2:30 in the morning on Friday taking all of the batteries out of their clocks. What do people see in clocks that chime? Every 15 minutes!

No sleep for me!
