4/25/09 Magic - First Visit To Tortola!

I would definitely recommend that those of you with young kids do the early seating. The dinner can go until 10 pm.

We have late seating and are happy with it since we don't have children. We generally eat late at home anyway.

Hi all, it is lsutigger from work -

We have early seating. On our other cruise, we had late seating as that was what was recommended for those without children. I found it a little late for us. We usually eat on the early side at home. I think it will be fine. And I hope we feel more like participating in some of the cruise activities after dinner and the show some nights - comedy club, dancing -

Now that I think about it, I think today is close to 50 days until we cruise so we need a little dancing right now - :cool1: :cool1:   :woohoo:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :dance3:

Back to my original thought: We didn't do many of the cruise activities after dinner because by then we were tired, so that is one reason why I booked early seating this time.

This is why I love having the little countdown in my signature. I love looking at it and seeing how close we are!! :woohoo:

We have the early seating - and are happy w/ that. We had it last time as well and it works well for our almost 3 year old :)

I'm doing the happy dance w/ you lsutigger!! We're getting closer!

But reality sets in and I need to do some --- :laundy:

On our last cruise, we had late dinner. We had a family that had a 7 or 8 year old at the time, and one night he fell asleep during dinner. The waiter took 2 chairs, put them together and he fit quite comfortably while we finished dessert.:lmao:

One of DDs friends just got back from a Disney cruise, 3 or 4 day, and they showed at the movies: Jonas Brothers 3D and Confessions of a Shopaholic. There were more but her friend did not mention them.

I would think that the Magic has the new theater since they were just upgraded.:thumbsup2

We changed from a cat 12 to a fl res. special cat 10 and when we did they changed us from late to main seating. We didn't even ask for it because we had gotten used to the idea of late seating since we figured there was no way around it. I guess our TA asked for us. :confused3 It couldn't hurt to call for those of you who want to change to early.

According to my copy of the FE list, half of the rooms are only adults!! I find that amazing! People always look at us weird when we say we're going to DCL with no kids!

  Wow- time is flying by.... we can all say we are going on vacation- next month!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hate to sound like a party pooper, but not sure of our final cruise day plans so we will hold of on commiting to the meet and bracelets at this time and we have also still going to hold off on the fish extenders- just not our thing!! It does all sound very fun though!!!!:confused3

We have early seating ( I think that will be best with the girls) I did request the 6pm time slot!, we book palo brunch for 4/26 DH B-day:love:

We also book the sail and snorkle for Tortola!!!

Not sure on our plans for ST. Thomas yet- some beach on our own- any recommendations?????:yay:

The girls are getting so excited and can't wait to get thier hair braided and miss 2 days of school!!- we are flying out of Boston late Wednesday night!

I hope everyone is having fun planning- I have my magnets done- just need to print!

Anyone check in online??? I makes me a little nevous to put my passport # online- am I crazy??? I called DCL and they did say they send hard copies in the mail about 2 weeks prior to sailing!:confused3

Can't wait to get out of this cold!! ... and snow! We just returned from a snowmobile vacation in Northern Maine- holy snow!!!!

Hi all - - hope everyone is surviving winter and holding on to the knowledge that our cruise is so close.
Rebecca - thanks for the wristband info. I apparently only hav 9 postings so I can't reply personally til I do one more.:confused3

I had late dinner seating on the last cruise I was on with my sister and sometimes we didn't get out til after 10. I still requested it this time but then DH and I decided we wanted early seating so I asked my TA and she eventually there was an opening so we took it. I'm wondering if they have openings at both seatings knowing that people might change when they arrive at the ship. Good luck to those who are trying to change.

Sandy

Just checking out my new trip ticker.:goodvibes I'm going to call Disney tonight and see if I can change my dining to main seating.

I can't remember if I thank you, Lisa, for offering to help with wristbands :) I appreciate it and will be in touch.

We got a paper today from our TA that said requested main dining. I think I better call to make sure 8:30 is way to late for us to eat.
Got some things today for the FE sounds like a lot of fun. I got an Easter hanging from the dollar store that is made of felt. I am going to turn it over and add two pockets with our names. It already has a dowel and string attached. Hope it works.

I read in a review that Disney hands out bandanas for Pirate nite, so I don't think we will bring anything else to dress up. I am REALLY trying to cut back on the packing. (My DH is rolling on the floor laughing)

Ok I promise to stop after this one. This will be number 10
Our weather here in Fl has been cool, nothing like some of you are having. I think by April we will be in the high 80s whoo hoo
We went last Monday to Wilderness Lodge for a birthday party for my 50 year old niece and then on a boat ride to watch the fireworks. We froze our hoodles off. Even with the blankets they provided. BUT it was still magical.

OK just one more
Rebecca I think there are a lot of us wierdos who love to do anything Disney with or without kids.

No luck in changing my dining to main seating. :guilty: CM said they review the list and choose families with very young children 1st. I'm going to try at the port also. She even spoke to her supervisor but not yet. Won't be a huge deal if I can't change.

On another subject has anyone done an upgrade at the port? Thinking of surprising DH with a Veranda if available? Don't really care where we are, just glad to be going?

Rebecca and others: Dh and I are a no kid couple. Sometimes I get the look and sometimes not. I am known as the Disney expert at my work :cool1:

Is there a way to ask for specific tablemates (I'm thinking folks for this board)? Last cruise we has good luck of the draw! Two really nice sisters, one of which was celebrating her birthday, just like I was!! It was enjoyable at dinner to compare notes on what everyone had done during the day.

Last call for fe club joiners - anyone???

Absolutely you can hook up with people, even from this board. You see who you want to hook up with and then, through emailing each other, you need (I think), reservation numbers of each family that wants to hook up for dinner, and call DCL to group together. Last DISBOARD group, we were so large, that we were not able to get one table together, but were in the same area.

Not sure on our plans for ST. Thomas yet- some beach on our own- any recommendations?????:yay:

We booked an island tour of St. John but plan to go to the beach in St. Thomas on our own afterwards. Here's a thread about Magens Bay & Sapphire Beach on St. Thomas and how to get to them:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2099536

I still haven't decided which one to go to yet. Magens Bay is THE famous beach so I feel like I should go there but it'll be crowded. Sapphire Beach seems to be the favorite on these boards and less crowded. I don't know! :confused3

No problem!! :thumbsup2

From what I've read, DCL stopped giving out the bandanas on some cruises in January but the ones that got back recently said they had them. However, it's not a full-sized bandana. It's a bandana triangle and some adults said it was too small to put on themselves. :confused3
