4/25/09 Magic - First Visit To Tortola!

Hi,
I just got done trying on all of DD clothes and DS clothes and laid out most of their stuff. Need to do a little shopping for DS 5. He is a little light on the polo shirt/slacks for dinner.

I did kind of a silly thing but thought it would be cute. I ordered matching Hawaiian shirts for all of us from Lava Hut. I thought we could wear them on semi formal night with khaki pants? I wanted to have some formal photos done?? Is semi formal night dressier than that??

DH and I sail and scuba dive together. I like stained glass and crafts. I have a craft room but never seem to have time to use it. I seem to spend those hours here on the boards.:rotfl: I did make the FE in there. My DH wanted to know when the UPS truck came from Ebay. I pulled out my great grandmothers sewing machine and went to work. That thing will sew thru anything.

The Easter Bunny froze his fanny up here in NH hiding eggs. The kids happily donned winter hats to go and look for the eggs.

I know time is going to start flying by.

Hey Linda: Know what you mean about missing your mom. April is always a hard month of us. Mom's birthday, my birthday, my DH birthday, Easter, etc etc. It will be 3 years in June that we lost my mom to breast cancer.

The Easter eggs were floating away today in Baton Rouge. We've had overcast skies and tornado warnings since about noon. But it didn't stop us from enjoying a yummy meal :dance3:

Question of the week: What interest, other than all things Disney, do you have?
Me: enjoy college sports, especially LSU :love:, love my dogs, enjoy traveling; like crafts - sewing, scrapbooking, quilting - when I have time and am motivated.
DH: loves golf (almost more than me :confused3); LSU sports; working in our yard at home; cooking (thanks goodness :worship:); our fur children.

Next to reply ????

Just think, we'll be in single digits soon :yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo:

Thank you Janie. I had a rough moment this morning. I know you know.:grouphug:

The weather was warm enough to be outside all day. I'm thinking the weather on this trip will be even better. :thumbsup2 I

Here is the list of ships that will visit St. Thomas in April. http://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/cruiseship/ship_schedule.php
You will see Disney Magic on 4/29 along with Triumph. Those are the only ships in port that day. Does that mean we won't need to do tenders? I found a site that had a live cam for St. Thomas...I lost it but it is neat that they have those kind of things.

"What interest, other than all things Disney, do you have?"

Me: crafts, scrapbooking, travelling, races, geocaching, gold prospecting, thrift shopping!
DH: CA tile, collectibles, art pottery, camping, gold prospecting, antiques.

Anyway, I should be off on Wednesday. Hope to start packing then.

Linda

The White Squall II sounds great. We were thinking of doing a dail sail with Kuralu. The website is kuralu.com. Friends of mine went and they said it was the best thing they did on thier cruise. It is an all day shore excusuion for $110 a person. It has two snorkel spots, lunch, drinks, and a stop at Foxy's bar (one of the top 20 beach bars in the world - according to the travel channel). I think Disney has something simliar for $105 but it is only for 4 or 5 hours. Anyways we are trying to get a group of at least 4 together to do it. Anyone interested plesase let me know. Thanks

The desciption is as follows:

"Visiting the British Virgin Islands? Come sailing on Kuralu, our 50’ luxury cruising catamaran. With over 1,000 square feet of deck space, there's plenty of shade, an open bar all day and our famous buffet lunch, which is served onboard. Kuralu sails out of Sopers Hole at Tortola’s West End to visit Green Cay and Sandy Spit to snorkel the reef and explore the tiny one-acre island. Then with the big colorful spinnaker we sail to beautiful White Bay, Jost Van ****. White Bay has been voted by Conde Nast Traveller as; "One of the 10 best beaches in the Caribbean", Fantastic for snorkeling, swimming, a visit to the Soggy Dollar Bar, birthplace of the real "painkiller". White Bay is where we stop and enjoy a relaxed lunch, in the shade, onboard Kuralu.
A look in at Foxys in the quaint and unspoiled Caribbean settlement of Great Harbour, completes the day"

thanks for the details. We are doing white squallII. They also had a great review on Trip advisor.

I started packing this past weekend. I also picked up my pirate costume that I rented. I just need to pack my dress for formal night and my carryon since we are flying in the day before. Can not wait to go on vacation. I also finished my door decorations. So I think I am in good shape for this week and and next.

Where is the list in the main forum? I can't find it.

This was the list from the 4/18 sailing...

Wall-E
Swing Vote
Beverly Hills Chihauhau (sp?)
High School Musical 3
Bolt 3D
Hannah Montana 3D
Bedtime Story
Confessions of a Shopaholic
Jonas Brothers 3D
Race to Witch Mountain
Hannah Montana

I haven't seen anything other than that.

This list looks like exactly what the CM told me on the phone yesterday with the addition of "Earth", so I bet they will be showing all of those.

We started packing this weekend - some of DH's stuff is done - but not much of mine yet!

11 DAYS TO GO! I've gotta get our door magnets printed out! :woohoo::yay::banana:

Question of the week: What interest, other than all things Disney, do you have?

DH and I attend anime cons and I cosplay (or dress up) as various anime/video game/comic book characters. We also collect statues and figures from our favorite series. We watch a lot of TV and our favorite shows are "Heroes", "LOST", "The Office", as well as others. We also like to eat out and try different restaurants. DH is also an import car enthusiaist.

Ok, so, I've missed a LOT on this thread....but, do we have a meet planned? Or are we just Lime Green-ing it?

We will be meeting at the Promenade Lounge at 3 pm on the first day. Sandy also bought wristbands but I'm not sure if she'll have extra.

I cannot wait to see the "Hannah Montana Movie"!!

Okay, I have to ask: What is/are "DH and I attend anime cons and I cosplay (or dress up) as various anime/video game/comic book characters"??

With all the new techo stuff around, sometimes I feel lots older than I really am :lmao::lmao:

Anime is Japanese animation but a lot of anime has been imported to the U.S. too (for example, Pokemon). By "anime cons", I meant anime conventions. We got to anime conventions. At the conventions, you meet other fans, learn about new anime that will be coming out, dress up as characters, and buy collectibles from dealers. I particularly dress up as characters (which is also called cosplay) and sometimes complete in costume contests.

Here is my most recent cosplay as Lulu from the video game "Final Fantasy X":

That was taken at Wizard World Texas, which is actually a comic book convention (not anime convention). LOL!

Cosplay is really fun but I've become less active in it though I still do it. I just don't attend as many conventions as I used to. :)

While I'm sharing about cosplay, let me show you one of my favorite cosplays ever. My friends and I competed in San Diego Comic Con 2005 as Disney Princesses and Princes. I was Ariel:

We won the "Most Humorous" award!

OMG! That skit is hysterical!!! Great job! I couldn't hear most of the words, but what I did catch was funny as heck. I now have a newfound respect for cosplay. Something I didn't know existed until about 15 minutes ago. :)

I don't suppose you have the lyrics to the song at all? I missed so much.

Hey Rebecca -- that was adorable ! LOL. I want to see you walking around the ship in your costume now :) Thanks for the giggle.

Thanks, everyone!!

The lyrics are in the description for the YouTube video. :)

You really should share this on the main boards too. This would be a big hit.

I assume you'll be signing autographs on our cruise?

Great costumes Rebecca. Do you sew them?

Alrightee everyone, coming down the stretch by a leg, comes the Disney Magic, a head shy of UNDER the 10 days limit, into single digits (I am already there :cloud9: with many others)

Glad I have a few projects to finish up at home to keep me from going crazy.
Wednesday, April 22 is going to be tough, even wonder if I should go to bed since I got to get up at 3 AM before we leave for the airport at 4 AM :coffee:

Other than the obvious, does anyone have plans of what tehy want to do on teh ship other than swimming, sitting by the pool, beer/margarita/wine tasting? Sandy was up for being able to meet up as some events. I am not a conaseur of wine, but I did the wine tasting last time :rotfl::lmao: and what was funny was that as the "better" the wine, the more I did not find it likeable. :rotfl::lmao:. I will stick with my strawberry daigharis.

Even though we already had a question of the week:
What will you be drinking throughout the cruise - will you always have a bottle of water, maybe ice tea, soda, a beer handy, or drink of the day THROUGHOUT the day

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the port and trying to remember all the names.:rolleyes1

OMGOODNESS - 2 more posts for 1000!!!

If you are interested in doing this email me (lkw103@yahoo.com) a picture. Include your screen name and the names of the people in the picture. I will put all the pictures together and send them out to everyone.

I would like to send out everyone the final pictures on Sunday. If you haven't already done so, make sure you send me your picture by then.
