4/25/09 Magic - First Visit To Tortola!

My first attempt at attaching a photo to an email Hope you get it

Thanks Lisa, I sent one out tonight. I'm not very computer savvy. Hope it gets to you.
Michelle

Lisa, I also sent a pic. Hope it is what you are looking for and you can use it.

Thanks for sending me your pictures last night. I received them. (Rebecca - I also received yours.) I am going to start putting them together today -if work doesn't interfer with DIS time!:rotfl2:

Keep the pictures coming.

Questions about attire (probably for the 100th time)...

There's one area that I'm not paying much attention to and I think it's time I start. DW just keeps asking "what I need" so I think I better start letting her know.

We are 6 all together (4 kids, 2 adult kids) and Maybe the in-laws, but they never commit to the last minute, if they show up, yeah, I've got some on-board babysitters. If they don't, then they can go down to that BAR and wave goodby while we sail by. Either way, it's all good.

So my question is: What nights are dress-up nights and what constitutes dress up? I'm not renting a tux, but was hoping either a suite or my nice pants and sports coat will do. When we did our 4 night I don't even think I wore the sport coat, but this cruise may be a little different.

Pretty much have everything else covered, but attire will always get me.

The 4-night is a bit different. They call it "Dress Up Night" so the recommended attire is much more open to interpretation.

On the 7-night cruises, there are actually 2 nights to dress up and they are more defined:

Formal night - Sunday
Semi-formal night -Thursday

In general, wear what you are comfortable with. On formal night, DH will be wearing a suit & tie. On semi-formal night, he'll wear a dress shirt and khakis (no coat, may or may not wear tie).

I'm looking forward to dressing up. It's not something that I do around here very often. Getting DH into it is a little bit harder though.

During our last cruise, we joined a DIS meet as well and everyone sent the organizer a family photo and she sent it out to the group before the cruise so we knew who we would look for when we board and we'd say hello and chat before we got to the actual meet up. Do you guys want to do this? I know there are a few people that have a picture in their avator but thought a bigger picture would be a neat idea.

If you are interested in doing this email me (lkw103@yahoo.com) a picture. Include your screen name and the names of the people in the picture. I will put all the pictures together and send them out to everyone.

Lisa

Hi LIsa -- I sent you a picture today -- hope you got it - - it's a neat idea :)

Sandy,

I just checked my e-mail and I did not receive an e-mail from you. Can you resend it? My e-mail address is lkw103@yahoo.com

Thanks.
Lisa

HI Lisa -- I sent it through kodak -- I'll send it again now - - if you don't have it by tomorrow let me know and I'll try something else. Thanks. Sandy

Questions about attire (probably for the 100th time)..

If you have palo ressie also need dress shirt and tie or sport coat.

I'm taking a couple of fancy dresses, nothing long, no gowns. Very rarely do we dress up either.
I gave DH the option of bowing out of formal night and eating at topsiders but he said that DD 10 would really love to dress up. She has a little tiara she got at a wedding so we will do it up right!! DS 5 I have dress pants and a dress shirt and little tie.
Hope that helps!

Funny - I was the one wanting to bow out of formal night and DH said, No, he wanted to dress up. It won't be anything fancy, just nice. Probably black slacks and nice top and jewelry for me and suit for dh. On semi-formal night, I have a skirt and top and don't know yet what Dh will wear. Will figure that out when we start to pack. I've been planning what I'll wear but haven't put anything aside yet, except my bathing suit. I need to wear some of my stuff before we leave:rotfl:

Hello fellow cruisers!

My how time flies. We will be joining you on our first cruise, celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. We're a family of three, my 3yo daughter Qiana (key-ah-gnaw) me, Richard and my wife Sanae (Saw-gnaw-eh). We will be staying in cabin 6134 and look forward to meeting lots of folks.

It took me three days to read through all the posts and regret that we missed out on the official FE activities. We did purchase an FE so if any of the smaller kids want to do an extra exchange with our three year old, we might be able to find some small things to bring with us from Japan. Just let me know.

We got our info from Disney last week and I had a question. Do the suggested tipping prices apply to children as well? I haven't read through any of the info Disney sent other than the easily scanable bold print stuff...

Also, if extra bracelets are ordered, we could take two adult and one child's. Will be back with more questions when I have more time. Gotta start thinking about packing pretty soon...:cloud9:

The dress up nights are great to have for a family or even for couples, a nice picture to be taken, wither by the ship photographers on a nice background, or someone else.

ANyone want to chime in (for the 4th time - :rotfl:) on who is going down early? Anyone going to Universal Thursday or Friday, April 23/24

Hey Bill, keep that password for your login in a safe place. :surfweb:

Welcome! Can't speak for others, but I have enough to add you to my list for FE.

Yes, tipping applies to children as well. Believe it or not, but the people requested for tipping deserve it. They go out of their way if necessary. I wanted lobster, not knowing it was going to be one night, so my husband ordered or rather asked for it for my birthday, and it showed up. :cloud9: That was thanks to the Maitre'd. The servers we had, 2 of them, were fantastic. The person that cleaned our room ( I tried to call her by name each day and can no longer remember it) was fantastic also.

Welcome and I hope you can send your picture to Lisa so we will be able to see who you are and get to see you around the ship.

Welcome QRS -- You will have a wonderful time on the cruise -- it's a beautiful ship and lots of fun.
I'm sticking my neck out responding about tipping, but I believe that the tipping info is per cabin. If I'm wrong then someone can correct me.

Also, I ordered the wristbands but I should have 3 for you -- I ordered a few extra just in case I messed up on the count and I figured someone would want them. I may or may not have a few more but I'll let everyone know at the meet if I come out ahead :). I'm assuming you read that we are all meeting at 3:30 at the Promenade Lounge on the ship for a group picture.
It's a great group - glad you are joining us.:cheer2:

Sending one to you now....although I recently chopped off all my hair - so I may look a little different ;)

Richard,

Welcome to the group. I have extras on the FE gifts for the little kids, so we'll add Quiana to our list.
