4/25/09 Magic - First Visit To Tortola!

Hope everyone is having a magical day.
I have a question for those who have been on the Magic before.
Is it cold in the restaurants and public areas? Heavy sweater or light?
I am sure the rooms have temp controls, so don't worry about the temps there,
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ole Ole Dot

HI Dot, My recollection is that the ship is kept pretty cool especially if the seas are rough. One of the staff explained to us t hat people are less likely to get seasick if the ship is kept cool. I can't remember if the rooms have individual temp. setting or not - I don't think so but maybe someone else will know for sure. I found I needed a light sweater for dinner and shows in the evening many times - - my sister is always cold so it was hard for her - - I was okay.

Hi -- Just poking in to let you know I will post the wristband list tomorrow - or Monday at the very latest. I want to order them by April 1st. In going through the posts since I mentioned the wristbands there were people who said it was a good idea and later others specifically asked for wristbands. So, am going to post who everyone I am assuming wants them and you can let me know if you want to be off the list or if your name is missing. It will be so much fun to see everyone that first day - all fresh and excited and ready to sail.
Sandy

Since you will need to be reimbursed for the wristbands, I think it would be safer to just count the people who said they wanted them. You should repost the list you have so far so everyone knows if they are on the list or not.

Thanks again for doing this!!

Hi,

Each cabin has its own temperature control. How well it works sometimes depends which side you're on, sunny versus shady, especially when sitting in port on a hot, sunny day.

When at sea and moving the ship always seems cooler, light sweaters are pretty common.

Forgive me if I got any of these wrong and PLEASE let me know on the board or via private message if you want to be added to this or taken off the list.
We have a week before I order them.
For anyone who still doesn't know about this -- we will be handing out wristbands to those who want to wear them so we can recognize each other on the ship. You don't have to wear them all the time but the first few days would be great to be able to recognize that someone is a part of this great group.

I think I'm getting Blue wristbands and possibly will have them imprinted with yellow "Pirates of Tortola".(can't promise that part yet) . The child bands are an inch smaller than adults so if you feel your child needs a larger one, let me know.

This is what I came up with -- again, I'm sorry for any mistakes.

Hi Dot,

With regards to the temperature on the Magic, to me it is always cold. This is our 4th time on the Magic and we have alway gone in April. The restaurants and the theatures are always cool. My boys have taken blankets with them to watch movies.. LOL! Late night on the decks are breezy and chilly. I would recommend a light sweater. On our first cruise, I only brought 1 pair of capris and 1 sweater..I mean, come on..it was tropical right!! I wore the same pants and sweater..EVERY night!!

Hope this helps! Cannot wait.....

Diane

Sandy, there are three of us for the wristbands.

I find inside the dining rooms cooler tahn is comfortable for me and wear a light jacket.

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: dancing to the countdown, past the 5 week mark.

Question of the week;
What do your post name represent, or where did you come up with the name?

MY DH signed up for this board and did DVC2themax - Disney vacation Club to the max - can be used for Disney, cruises, and other places if we were inclined (but I enjoy WDW too much to want to go anywhere else:cloud9::woohoo::yay::rolleyes1)

Hi Sandy, the count is right for us (2 adults), but my DH's name is Danny. Thanks!

We are still waiting to find out our cabin number - I hope it's soon, I don't think I can stand waiting much longer! :crazy2: :rotfl:

I bought magnetic paper this weekend - planning on doing some signs for our door like I did on our two Wonder cruises - hopefully I can find some good art/pictures to make them with!

By the way I love the logos for our cruise that some of you guys have made! I may try and figure out how to use one for our door sign if you guys are okay with that!

Question of the week;
What do your post name represent, or where did you come up with the name?

Mine represents the neighborhood in Baltimore that I live.

Looking forward to meeting everyone one the 25th! 5 weeks can not pass soon enough!

Mary

Good day one and all: a quick reply (I'm at work, eating lunch and trying to get out the door to a meeting, and of course getting caught up on the boards :rotfl:)

Sandy, our wristband order is correct

Screen Name: my favorite university (LSU/Louisiana State University) + my favorite disney character = Tigger BTW: the mascot for LSU is the Tiger
Tigers and Tiggers are kin :banana:

This is my "at work" account, hence the 'atwk' at the end of lsutigger.

And like everyone else, I'm really looking foward to the cruise. I was counting the weeks this morning :laughing: Less than five - sounds good.

Janie

Sandy - The wristband count is correct for us! In case you need it, my DH's name is Chris!

Question of the week;
What do your post name represent, or where did you come up with the name?

*digs into the files* I use "aznaphrodite" everywhere on the internet. If you see "aznaphrodite" anywhere else, it's probably me, except on MySpace where some 13-year-old beat me to it!! :mad:

"aphrodite" is the Greek Goddess of Love. I did a report on her when I was in 6th grade. In high school, I logged on to my first BBS (that's what we had before the internet) and had to choose a screen name. I picked "aphrodite" because the Goddess of Love just seemed cool.

Later on in college, I added "azn" to the front because there were so many "aphrodite" screen names. "azn" is an online abbreviation for "Asian", which I am! LOL!

So I'm "aznaphrodite" or "Asian Aphrodite", as it's pronounced!

Many years later, I joined a cosplay (costuming) group that revolved around the anime "Sailor Moon". As fate would have it, I became their Sailor Venus, which is the Roman version of Aphrodite! LOL! :thumbsup2

Every time I went on a cruise I felt like a Queen. Well I can't be the "The Queen" b/c she lives in England. So I just added a 2.:lmao::lmao::rotfl:

Question of the week; What do your post name represent, or where did you come up with the name? QUOTE]

We are huge Nascar fans. The 88 is for Dale Earnhardt Jr (Lisa's favorite driver) and the 20 is for Tony Stewart (Terry's favorite driver). Tony Stewart is actually in the 14 now so our name is a little obsolete. We debated about changing it to nascar8814 but then we would have to start all over again with 0 posts! :rotfl2: Maybe we will change it after this cruise.

Forgive me if I got any of these wrong and PLEASE let me know on the board or via private message if you want to be added to this or taken off the list.

Sandy

Looks like we are good to go:thumbsup2 Thanks for doing this for us Sandy.:flower3:

Question of the week;
What do your post name represent, or where did you come up with the name?

It's fun to see why some people chose the names they chose.

Nothing magical about my screen name: adnil is Linda spelled backwards and 530 is my area code. Sometimes I use adnil95667 which is my zip code. It's the only way I can remember my signin name for all the things you need signin names for. :laughing: DH adopted the same system, so if you see ekim530 or ekim95667 you've probably spotted my DH:rotfl:
