4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

Documentless here in CA as well.

None here either....maybe today!

Also, we had booked a cat 12 guaranteed cabin and what I had originally thought was a cat. 12 room based on the Disney Website room assignment - turned out to be a cat. 10 ... so it seems we were "dusted" too :yay:

Yeah! CAT 10's are my favorite! I love the double steamer trunk, the extra bench seat (if not a connector), the split bath and the fact that the couch is before the bed!!! It has everything that I love!

I'm bringing friends!!! I just added Michael and Lamar Lopresto and Donald Voorhies-soon I'll have half of my small town on board!:yay:

 Now can you add my aunt and her family who live in Broussard...just right down the road! :lmao:

This being our first DCL we want to make it memorable...so our biggest dilemma is do we attempt some tours on our own (for example Rome) or should we book a tour through Disney?? We"ve considered private tours but heard they could be expensive...there are only 3 or us.

This is our first cruise too. We opted to do a private tour. We did a ton of researcha nd found it is much cheaper for the 4 of us....it is Euro 450 for the day and they will pick up from the dock. Good Luck

raileurope.com is a good website to find out times and such. There are some trains that are no longer showing up on their site but still show availability on European sites.

GOT CRUISE DOCS TODAY!!!!!!!

Hello April 24th cruisers. Are any of you planning to blog while on your Med cruise? Those of us on the following cruises would be interested in your experiences on Embarkation Day, the show schedule (is it what we've projected it to be), what you thought of the DCL excursions, etc. If so, I'd like to put links to the blogs up on our cruise web site. Thanks! :)

Love your website! It is so easy to read and navigate!!!

Does anyone have info on taking train from port to Rome?

The station is close by. You can take a taxi to it and buy your tickets to Rome. It will be about a hour ride. This will be our second time taking the train to Rome.

Webmaster Pete (who hosts the Podcast) will be doing blogs, videos, podcasts etc. on this cruise, not sure if it will be during or after (maybe a bit of both). I know that's not helpful for those boarding on the May 5th cruise but I expect it will be very comprehensive.

All, Not sure if you are aware but we are going to be in Barcelona on St George's day. This is one of their favorite holidays. I did find out that this is the one day of the year when the Palau de la Generalitat, Barcelona's principal government building, is open to the public.

Inside this Gothic architectural masterpiece you'll see huge displays of roses created to honour Saint George.

You can email them to make a reservation for a tour. We are going saturday morning before embarkation.

DiceCatt,

Thanks for sharing your blog. it is always helpful to see what others are doing. We too have decided to use Rome in Limo. We are using them for La Spezia and Rome. For Naples we cancelled them and will be taking the hydrofoil to Capri.

Since computer time is expensive I thought I would do a jouranl on Microsoft word and then attach it to the email. That way I would not be using computer time writing my stuff. I hope it works.

Two weeks from today we will be on the Magic for the voyage across the pond. Looking forward to meeting everyone in Barcelona.

Still not travel docs.

So I haven't read this board for a couple of weeks, and it's like years went by. What did I miss?!!!

I made this journal for Brooklyn for the trip.

If you would like to use these please note that it is made to be printed back 2 back. So basically print odds then load the printer again and print evens.

It is made to fit in a 5.5 x 8.5 binder. Here is a link to the binders but they can be bought at Staples... binder

It can also be bound in other ways.

If you would like the original PDF to be emailed to ensure proper printing instead of printing through google docs just send me a PM.

Hi April Med cruisers! I'm from the May 5th Med cruise, so I was just checking things out :goodvibes

I'm wondering, did anyone let DCL book your flights in and out of Barcelona? I did and they have us cutting it a pretty close on both embarkation and debarkation day. I called to ask about it, but they said there's nothing they can do. They did assure me they would "take care of everything," but it still makes me nervous. I'm wondering if anyone had a similar experience.

Have a wonderful cruise! :goodvibes
