4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

Is anyone else on the DCL Delta flight from Barcelona to JFK. It leaves at 11:20?

Does anyone know when we will get our 12 cabins for the FE?

Whoohoo we have an upgrade for this cruise...:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
We booked a cat 12 and we are upgraded to a cat 9.

For the TA cruise we booked a 12 and got a 12 we have to move rooms for the Med cruise (but we don't complain at all).
The good part is that we moved from 2013 to 2012 so t's just across the hall!!

Yeah so happy for you guys getting such a great upgrade. Would be wonderful if DCL would look and change you to the same room for the TA, anything is possible...............

Congrats on the Med upgrade Yvet! Too bad they didn't do it for the TA. I'd love to know their criteria for upgrading, since some of us got upgraded and don't have to move, some got upgraded but still have to move, some got a partial upgrade so they have to move.:confused3

That would be awesome if they did that...
I don't know and never heard that they did something like this, did anybody else ever heard DCL doing this??

The only thing i know is that upgrades are so random that there isn't a way to figure out how they do it.....

I don't think it happens often but I know that it does happen, it happened to our friends on a btb last year.

Might be worth it for you to find out if that room is still available for the TA?

Extra pixie dust happens, good to know.....

I tried to check if the stateroom 2013 is still available for the EBTA but on the DCL website i can't look into which staterooms are still available because it's all GTY.
Maybe i call DCL and ask them if the room is still open, would that be stupid to do??

No room assignment here yet. I am waiting with baited breathe. I am hoping for an upgrade to a category 11, ideally on deck 6. I can hope, right? I don’t want anything above a category 11 as I hate the split bathroom with a passion. We have done 3 cruises on DCL so far, two in a sideways category 11 and one in a category 9. Even though it was nice to have a porthole in the category 9, this was kind of spoiled by the split bathroom. I felt really claustrophobic. It got to the point that I refused to use our bathroom and used the bathrooms in the public areas and showered in the spa.

I am going to order the supplies for the Fish Extender later today. I can’t wait to make them. I really enjoying crafts and enjoy doing this kind of thing. I shall spend a happy evening one day last week putting the gifts together. Once we have the details regarding which cabins we are giving to, I just have to label them.

I also seriously have to think about magnets. I never have done magnets before, but really want to do it this time. The irony is that I have my designs in place for the Westbound Transatlantic, but I am still looking for the right thing for this cruise.

For the FE we will be divided in to groups of 12 cabins and it is one gift per cabin minimum. I am not sure if you get assigned a night or you choose which night you want to do. The idea is that you should not accumulate too much extra to bring home. I am unsure as to when all of this is to be finalized.

Debby

You've got the idea! I am not the type to assign nights - some people might want to do a themed gift related to the dinner/entertainment or port plans. As long as everyone doesn't gift on the first or second night, it should be fine. That's the only way I've participated (small groups - no assigned nights) - and it worked great.

For those of you DIYers taking the train from La Spezia to Florence or Piza- Does anyone know if it is better to buy train tickets in advance or if you can get them at the train station? Thanks

Depends on your personality: Pisa/Florence: If you want to have a guaranteed train time and a place to sit on a better train, then book in advance. The website for Italian trains shows the times for the regional trains, but will say seats are not available - you buy your ticket at the station and then get on a train that may or may not have seats for everybody (can you stand up for a 45-minute commuter train?)

Yvet--it's worth a try calling Disney. They didn't have it in their notes that we were a b2b so I think that's the reason we got two different assigned rooms. I called and spoke with a very nice agent who was able to confirm room was taken. So I'll try at the port to fix it.

congrats to all of you on the upgrades on room assignments. very exciting...........

we are anxiously!! awaiting our room assignment since we are in Cat 12 GTY (which i think many of us here are). it looks to me from the posting that its those on the translatlantic cruise that have started to see these assignments on the 4/24 cruise.........

getting closer to our cruise sail date....can't wait.

Good to see a few up-grades for people :thumbsup2

I think I'm almost there with my FE gifts :goodvibes One thing to get from the grocery store then a few tweaks and I'll be done - I can't wait to see all the gifts and am glad they will be small, we're gonna need as much space as possible  (one bag between both of us)

I've started doing my magnets too, got a personalised one from Jordak - has some great designs and was so super quick posting it :goodvibes I'm mainly using ones I made for last year (non-specific ones)

We'll be there in 7 weeks time :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I am starting to get organized. I just got notified that two of my cruise t shirts have shipped. I have ordered the supplies for the fish extender gifts. The various components are coming from three different companies, but they should all arrive during the first half of the week. Then I will spend a happy evening putting them together.

I ordered a Xyron last night at a great price together with a cartridge with laminate/ magnet so I should be able to work on my magnets soon.

I still have not booked a hotel in Barcelona or looked at excursions, but at least I have an idea regarding a hotel.

I'm going to call DCL later today, when i have some news i post it here.

Do we have a logo for the med cruise??
I know there is a B2B logo but is there one for the med only???

Had a great lunch with Shushh and her family over the weekend! Introduced them to some "American" specialities (homemade lemonade, pulled pork sandwiches, and pumpkin pie).

Off to bed, and hoping the Disney IC fairies, do their work overnight, and we have a room assignment when I get up tomorrow.

May I ask what a Xyron is? Is it like a die cut machine or more like a printer? I have a Big Shot die cut (from Ellisson who do the Sizzix stuff) so I think it will be a few years until I can buy another big purchase for my crafting :rotfl: I'm just curious to different things :thumbsup2 For my magnets I got a laminator for half price at Tesco a couple of years ago, then I found a place that sells A4 sheets of 'magnet' with a stick back, works like a treat!

Ah, pulled pork sandwiches :cloud9: I love them soooo much, prefere them to burgers  Glad to hear you had a good time :goodvibes Ditto on the room assignments but I have to wait during the day  :surfweb:

I was just reading cruise critic and thought this information might be handy
