4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

We are the McNeese Family. This will be our first Disney Cruise and we can't wait. I'm Rich and 34, my wife Teresa is 30ish, my son Bryce will turn 6 in April and my daughter will turn 4 in May. I’m so happy that we can celebrate their birthdays on this cruise. Does anyone know what Disney will do for their birthdays? We are a military family station in Rota, Spain. I have been in for 15 years now. I’ve booked a Cat 5 room. I would like to do the FE but have no clue on how or what kind of gifts. Please help!!!

WELCOME McNEESE FAMILY>:woohoo: Thanks for you and your families service to our country! Don't forget the frilly dress for your daughter to meet the Princesses and your son will love the Pirate dinner and deck party. You can go on line and get some room decorations as well as a cake in a package. But they will bring a special dessert to the table with a candle if you tell your server. More on this board will help with your cruise.Stay tuned.

Here's a (very unclear) picture of a new Navigator front page (when they were still doing Golden Mickeys):

The Navigator is a 4-page information sheet placed in your cabin each evening by your room steward. My memory is that it is done during the night's show/ dining period. Your steward makes your bed in the morning after you go out for activities. While you are out to dinner, he (sometimes she) will remove the bedspread, fold down the sheets, place chocolates and the next day's navigator on the bed, and set the lights on low, so you don't enter a darkened room. (Does this sound right to the rest of you repeaters?)

Anyway, it contains information as to docking time, aboard time, sunrise, sunset, menu theme & dress for dinner, activities, movies, character viewings, specials in the gift shops, alcohol shop & spa.

Check it out further by clicking on Disney Cruise Line Info at the top of the page, left, in the blue strip.

Auntlynne and everyone else, When we were on our 2007 Med cruise on the Magic, Disney gave all the children "leather" bound books that had a general outline about the cruise and ports to be visited. Then the night before docking a few pages were left with the Navigator to be added to the book. It consisted of games and histories as well as space for pictures. At the end you brought your book to the kids club and a nice seal was placed on the front. It was a wonderful educational aspect for the kids as well as a wonderful memento of the cruise. Plus our cruise was populated with not as many kids as usual so the kids were really spoiled by the characters as well as the dinner servers.I hope they repeat that gift because it was really special.

A few minor tweaks (the colors at the top) and I think I'll really like this one:

Love it Lynne! :thumbsup2 But, there hasn't been anything you've showed us that I haven't really liked :goodvibes You're so creative!!!

Okay - think you can go ahead and add us to the FE list. I've got one idea rolling :rotfl: around in my head. Okay - so now I gotta go and get creative!!

McNeese Family! and Becky and Gavin! Our group is getting bigger and bigger :cool1:

Did anyone recieve a cruise packet in the mail today about the Med cruise? We received 2 packets for our two rooms. They are really cute BUT...

There are places with our information on it but then when you open up the card it has a different last name and different reservation numbers. :confused3 It is like this for both of our rooms. We got 2 different last names and 2 different reservation numbers.

I am not one that is overly protective about thes ekind of things but it does not sit well with me that someone else is probably getting my last name and reservation number in their mailbox today. UGH!

We had the same thing -- addressed to the right family -- but inside the postcard it said "Welcome Chang Family" - at least it rhymes with our last name :lmao: But, you're right - getting someone else's reservation number is bothersome. And, the thought of someone else having mine is even more disconcerting! But, at least I know that anyone wanting access to my ressie needs to go through Dreams Unlimited (since I used them to make my reservation) and if they want to see things online - they'll need more information like my email address and password.

I had same issue on getting packet from Disney on monday and it had a card with someone else's name and reservation. I called Disney as I was bothered about this too from a privacy perspective. They told me they caught this after some # of these went out and remedied the problem. Still unsettling......

Lynne, I like them both and would be happy with whichever one you end up choosing. I do have a slight leaning towards Vitruvian Mickeybut that's just me. I think its ok for kids.

I found one image but it seems alot brighter than yours, and its not quite the same. yours has a nice sepia and washed out tone which I like.

This is where I got it from but the url isn't that long!!

I LOVE that picture!

I just placed an order for the family FE. WOW so cool!!! When do we get the group list so that I know how much to get. The wife was thinking about getting something that is a Spanish theme cause we live in Spain:confused3.

Lynne, :worship:I love the print and the shirt theme. I have a few questions cause I'm new at this....How do I get one and cost? Also, I went on your site and looked at the magnets...How do I get those, too? So much to learn, so little time!!!!!pirate:

Thanks to All!

Lara, is the rain like "crazy" out your way? DH has had to stop driving home because the water came up halfway up the wheels.

Shussh-

Hope he made it home, my DH got home just in time, and then we amazed by how much rain we got. Last week I drove through the highest water level I had ever driven through trying to get from school to swimming, and it was just up to the middle of the tires.

The good thing is the dam's are filling up!

Are we doing t-shirts? Did I miss this? I know about the Lanyard's (Lynne if you want any monetary help with those, let me know).

Its so nice to wake up and see so much activity on our thread!

Welcome to the McNeese Family!

We got the cruise packet and fortunately it had the right details on them. The overseas ones were probably last to get sent out so they had time to fix ours...

Ah the joy of living in Australia, we have to go "all the way" to get anywhere! Oh well, makes for the children being good travellers.

Lara, glad to hear your DH made it home. No, Mal didn't make it home (he's safe!). He was on-call at Manly Hospital and didn't make it very far. By the time the rain had eased, he had to drive back. He's still there.

I really hope they do this again because it sounds fantastic. What a wonderful idea!

Here's a thread just for magnets! There are a few designers who will make/personalise the images for non-creative and technologically disabled people like me, so all you have to do is print. Just click on their albums in their signatures and then make your request! Or if you wait long enough, I'm sure Lynne will make some Med ones...;)

By the way I just spoke to Disney again "Passports must be valid for 6 months after return home". Contradicting information is crazy so I am renewing Canadian passports. Yuck!!!!!!!

I actually have a little different (but the same) for you guys (I was thinking of you when making my choices back in January! - some people just stand out in a crowd).

"remedied the problem" - can't remedy it since so many of us got other families' names and ressie #. All they could do is stop any more batch mailing. Whoever programmed the software or loaded the papers messed up; I am now the returning family "Eikelenboom."

Our two families are 1st Time Cruisers - Torres and Tierranta families. LOL

Okay, now "I" feel better about your passports. I couldn't trust a verbal response when they print that you need 6 months. Hope Canada is as prompt in passport processing as are the Americans (we are not known for quick government responses - but which bureaucracy is?)

Wow - I feel so honored!!! :goodvibes The only time I usually stand out in a crowd is when arguing with my DHs side of the family :lmao:
