4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

Lynne, I just visited your website. You can count our group as 1 cabin if it works better with numbers as we'll only have the 1 fish extender anyway. It's mainly for the kids to have the thrill of a surprise.

Do your mom & dad want to receive anything? or be left alone?

And who's in which cabin?

Did you find the Vitruvian Mickey that I used? If not, I'll photobucket it over here.

I don't think my parents will mind either way. They are not even aware of the DISboards and what I spend my free time doing...

We are in 7088 and they are in 7090.

It's be great if you can photobucket the Vitruvian Mickey or PM me the link. whichever is easiest. I found 2 similar ones but they're just not the same!!!

Did you eat in all three on the last cruise - the answer should be yes.

You will have the "rotation" dinners in each (a typical menu is on the external website, under "Menus - Dinner" for those dinners.) That covers 3 of our nights. From then on, everyone in your dining room will rotate among the 3 venues, although the menu will be the same in each - Pirate Dinner, Til We Meet Again, Captain's Gala, whatever they are calling each themed night.

It is not necessarily a repeating cycle, either. You could be back in the same dining room two nights later (this is what I experienced on my last cruise.)

Yes on the last cruise the dining order was 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3 meaning the rotation was kept in order such as Luminere's, Animator's Palate, then Parrot Cay and was kept in order so you had some idea where you would be dining. Also the buffet was open at night. One thing to keep in mind is Triton's dining the people usually dressed a little more neatly than the other two venues. The food stayed pretty much the same "American" menu choices meat, chicken or fish. One added plus was that DCL added local wine varieties to their wine selection for a little more choice. A wine tasting also was offered onboard to try the local wines of the regions visited. We chose a couples' massage and there was nothing more wonderful as sitting in a two person hot tub and lounging on a large chaise off the coast of Italy. And the massage was wonderful too. They also offered a number of onboard activities that reflected the Med.

Welcome Alyson and Chris!

Lynne thank you for your generous gift of the lanyards. Also, I love the vitruvian Mickey! May I use the graphic in the middle to make magnets?

Just to echo Lynne's words of FE...mine is definitely very small, light and of very low cost. I just hope that I can find some more...

I would also like to add a thank you to Lynne, and agree with the vitruvian Mickey. Very inventive and Italy-appropriate.

So Belinda- small, light and low cost. I'm guessing we're not all getting baby koalas or dingo pups then? Drat. We'd love a dingo.

Free time? You have free time? With all the time you spend beating me in facebook games? :lmao:

Okay, I think I got the roll call up to date with what I have.

Lynne, count us in on the FEs. Any idea when the final total will be in? As in- will it be in before we leave for Morocco on March 6th, or will everyone just have to settle for Philadelphia related gifts?

We have nothing done for this cruise. Nothing planned besides one tour out of Naples. This is so unlike me. I wasn't even this disorganized when we cruised while dh was in Afghanistan. Even with our youngest ds having surgery and being sick, that trip went like clockwork. This one, not so good.

Julie

Finally, welcome aboard to all the new cruisers.
:dance3:

It's always good to have new shipmates. We were the only ones for the longest time. I was getting worried.

Julie

Thanks for the advice Belinda and Rich. I feel good about waiting to get our train tickets on that morning! :thumbsup2 Phew - one less thing, on my plate, to worry about. :yay:

Auntlynne....Where can I get a bigger jpg of the Vitruvian Mickey Mouse. Will you be posting it on you web site.:cool1: It looks REAL COOL.:thumbsup2

This year they changed the dining rotation, no more 123, you now end up repeating a couple in a row in the middle :) Not sure how they will do that on the MED.

I agree, Thanks to Lynne! And yeah, we were kinda counting on a dingo too, the kids would be ok with koalas though :)

You have to get that big Morocco trip done first! I don't even have that excuse we keep changing our excursions all around and going back on forth on private vs. dcl vs. on our own. It's driving me insane.

We are thinking to do Pisa on our own so if anyone wants to make a group jaunt to the train station and ride over together, let me know, we can meet for breakfast and head out!

Welcome to everyone new, it is going to be a great cruise and so looking forward to meeting everyone! :welcome::welcome::welcome:

Hey Jeanne! We'll go over to the train station with ya! We were hoping someone else wouldn't mind being travel buddies :thumbsup2

Oh yeah, that would be great, always more fun with a group! We thought about doing the DCL Pisa thing but everything I read it seems like an easy do it yourself trip.

What do they do?

Just wander around, apparently. I don't really know them, they are my friend's parents, and just decide what they want to do that day. Okay by me, my plans will be set anyway. And my friend and her husband as well...she is also a planner...totally the opposite of her parents.

I could never do that...but to each his own :goodvibes

I also want to say thanks to Lynne...and to Julie for keeping us all organized! I'm Erin, by the way...husband is Steve!
