4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

So, we should go ahead and book individual Palo brunches at our booking window - just in case? I just want to make sure because someone else said that if we have individual ressies - then we can't book with the group. :confused3

Lynne - I'm going to PM you with my and Brian's information. Thanks so much for organizing!! :worship:

Yes you can book your individual ones. I am looking at the confirmation that I got last time I booked the private room. It states in the first sentence "I have removed the indivdual reservations booked online and confirmed your group", etc....

Last night, I was googling images of "Mediterranean" to get ideas for a theme to this cruise. There was the Mediterranean Sea, which made me think of the joke, Why are you so blue? Because I am the Mediterranean, Sea? (okay, I think that's sort of funny).

I was thinking of olives, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Roman Coliseum ... and then I thought of that famous line, "Friends, Romans, Countrymen, Lend me your ears." At that instant I thought of Mickey Mouse ears.

So below I've got some ideas to go with that.

This one on the left reminds me of the poster for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat:

Great news on the brunch. I sent my info already, I hope you got it Lynne. When I did it last year, they wouldn't drop the existing reservations, so I'm glad they do it now.

All of the signs look great. Cute idea with the ears.

Could I steal your Aladdin picture? Where did you get it? I want to do one with Arabic writing if I can figure out the right way to construct the phrase. I still get a little confused about the syntax of the language, especially word order.

We're also trying to make little magnets, like the flags they sell at EPCOT: the ears with the countries' flags, but I want to do the city coat of arms, instead. Problem is, we have MS Word, Paint, and Powerpoint (what I usually use to do our signs and magnets) and I'm not artistically talented at all.

I liked the logos with Aladdin best, but I'm partial to him, so whatever everyone else likes is fine with us.

We have less than 70 days until we leave for Morocco. This is nuts. I haven't studied Arabic in weeks and my tutor is going to kill me.

Julie how many days do you have at home after Morroca before having to fly out to Barcelona?

Jeanne how is the move going? Is your new home ready?

Lynne, keep up the fantastic work on the artistic front! I have to say I like the ears best so far. Its simple and universal, for males/females/young/old.

The ears are pretty generic for all genders, ages. I was trying to avoid using "Magic" in the title for Karen's sake. She takes it too literally, in that it is used by witches and such. The only time it is acceptable to her is when someone mentions anything related to physics, I always refer to that as "magic." It is in our family lore for so long, she knows it is just a joke.

I guess she would call a magician an illusionist (what they really are).

Life is still black & white, rather concrete for her (at nearly 17).

Lynne, Count me in for loving the ears! Adorable.

The problem for me is I love them all :) I could make enough magnets to cover all the stateroom doors they are so cute.

My home is not nearly ready. We are smoooooshed in two apartments (girls are happy because they are in one of their own) and looking like mid FEBRUARY until the house is complete. Backorder on some custom kitchen stuff. Not a bunch of happy campers around here.

Really getting excited for these cruises.

Have added some people to my facebook but if anyone else uses facebook and wants to "be my friend" :goodvibes send me a pm!

Jeanne, that must be tough. Its bad enough having to move, let along having your family split in 2 apartments and then having to wait to move again!

My parents just came back from their Oasis of the Seas cruise. They said the ship was beautiful but they thought it was too big. The service according to them was only okay. They were very excited however, when their ship docked next to a DCL ship in Nassau! They took a photo of themselves in front of the ship with Donald Duck for the kids. I thought that was really cute!

We are really excited too now about the cruise. I am so keen to participate in things but so worried as well because the cruise is so port-intensive. All the activities suggested in previous cruises sound like so much fun.

Does anyone have any thoughts of how we can make FEs do-able for our cruise?

Lynne--I sent you a PM with our brunch information. Thanks for all your efforts.

Luving the ears.

I just love that it's not only kids (age-wise) that derive pleasure from Disney. Otherwise, it probably wouldn't be in business anymore, though.

I think we have to limit ourselves on group activities on this one. Seven ports of call and whatever Disney has planned for Sea Days. It's going to be an exhausting experience, I imagine. But, no packing/unpacking for all those different places, yeah! :cool1:

...For you, however, there is the PC cruise 7 1/2 months later - now that will be some Sea Day action.

This is so port intensive. I was thinking no FEs for me this cruise but if someone comes up with some easy doable thing I'm game :) Already trying to figure out how to make the port days mixes of long and short excursions so we won't be too exhausted.

We are also booked on the PC for 2011. Totally forgot about it since we booked the inaugural Dream but still deposited and planning to go so maybe we will be cruising together again in the future with as Lynne says plenty of time for activities!

We last four post-ers are all booked on the 2011 PC cruise. :grouphug:

I need to go and find that PC meet thread I guess before it gets too late.

Wondering if there are other cruisers besides me who are going to do the PC and the maiden Dream voyage? Seems crazy but didn't get to do the last PC and must do the maiden Dream.

Lynne, how can you keep up with all your cruise meet threads? More than one and I'm lost.

Anyone thinking to do the Berber Village day as an excursion in Tunisia? I have booked it for the moment but have no reviews on it and would love to find some feedback, good or bad.

Just like puppies, we need to pick one (for our logo). You can use the others for your door magnets.

I want to get one of those xyron magnet laminating machine things some of you guys have.

Problem is current location, no Michaels, no newspaper, no coupons. Literally current location is in the middle of nowhere. One stop light and 30 miles to a retail store (i.e. Walmart or McDs).

I ordered one online on Saturday (1/2 the regular price of Michael's). Used the coupon for the laminate/magnet roll.

I'll PM you the website where I found it.

I am sure there are other "crazies" out there doing more than one cruise during a calendar month :rotfl:

I spend a lot of time looking at the top of the page to figure out which cruise we are talking about. It doesn't make it easier when I've got overlapping cruisers.
