4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

Okay, I admit it; I couldn't resist tagging behind Lynne to the Med so we are booked and paid. Tony agreed it was too good a deal on the cat 12's to pass up. So we are another family who have booked a cat 12 and are hoping/wishing/dreaming of where we will end up. Do you think they are going to look at the B2B's and put us somewhere so we won''t have to switch rooms. Then we won't have to deal with the luggage questions.

So with that said, bring on more FE's, more Bunko, more Palo............:yay:

Stephanie--I have enjoyed reading all your posts and creativity. Your girls are beautiful. We are in the San Jose area. DH also put us on Air Berlin on May 6th so THANK YOU for that piece of valuable info. We may stayover a couple of days in New York as I have never really been. I'm just thinking by then I want to be home.

Lynne--How do you say happy new year in Hawaiian. Are we crossing paths on Maui??????????

We just spent a couple of hours looking at all the info and pretty much decided Shussh had done a great job planning. Are there any families or individuals that would like to join us on private tours? We are a party of three, and would love to lower cost by sharing a car. Even though our son is 6 we still plan on making the most of our days. (Brooklyn - what does your party of 5 plan on doing?) If we have 8 in a vehicle, it comes down to approx. $100 pp, instead of over $700 for 3.

Naples - we want to see Pompeii, Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, and Positano

Rome - full day with all the main sites, and Vatican Tour

Florence Pisa Tour

Monaco & Nice tour from Villefranche, France

Let me know if any one is interested in joining any of these tours!

Lara

We would def be interested in sharing a van. We basically want to see all of the same things. I def want to see Pompeii. Rome we want to see the Coliseum, Vatican, etc. I really wanted to do the Angels and Demons tour but it is not offered the day we will be there. UGH! DD (8) is dying to see the leaning tower of Pisa. She wants to take the picture where it looks like you are holding it up. HAHA Grandma would love to see Monaco.

My husband and I would be interested in sharing a van. All the areas are ones that we are interested in except maybe Pisa. We have already been there. He has a little problem walking long distances. He is tall and needs leg room.Disney said they would help us in this but I could not get them to quote a price. Let me know if you have additional information.thanks

:thumbsup2

YIPPEE!!!!!! It is just too hard to pass up the price. Oh you should def do NYC for a few days. I am originally from NJ and just love NYC. Since you will be there already then you should do it.

More Palo, oh I just love that thought!

If you do stay in NYC you would look at doing SW home and then you don't have to pay for bags the whole way home. That is what the girls and I are doing. That is why I went with air Berlin over Aer Lingus bc of the 2 free bags per person. You just have to fly out of LGA instead of JFK with SW. We are going to visit family in NJ so we are going to fly from Philadelphia back to CA.

Howdy all.

We're sort of back to normal. I just dropped off my Arabic teacher at the train about two hours ago, so officially, my holiday entertaining is finished.

It's a little late, but here's the Christmas greeting in Arabic:
المسيح ولد. مجدوه
Read from right to left in script, transliterated it says:
Al-masiiH walidu. MajiduuH. Of course all of the letters aren't in there- no short vowels (three of the a's, one of the i's and one of the u's). Confusing language.

Anything going on with Palo, please count me in as I'm a single adult and would have to eat alone, else wise. Not that I'd pass up Palo if I had to eat alone, especially not for brunch.

Julie

Is anyone organizing group Palo brunch or dinner? We are def interested in a group dinner. If no one else is organizing this I would be happy to. Sorry if I missed info on this in previous posts.

Hello, I'm back from a busy, exhausting but FANTASTIC Christmas and boxing days! It's time to get organised for the cruise now!

With Palo, from memory, Lynne had compiled a list but we needed everyone to be ok with the fact/take the chance that we may not get the room for Brunch. And if you put your name down for the brunch as a group, that's your one brunch pre-boarding reservation that you're allowed. And we won't know if we get the room until about 30 days from sailing.

I think someone was compiling of FE participants but I can't remember who!

You can sign up for indivdual Palo meals and when inventory control books the private room they will cancel your individual reservations. I have always done it this way just incase the room is not available. It will be harder on this cruise because of the lack of sea days but it is no worse then a regular 7 day cruise. The sooner you fax in the request the better your chances of getting the room.

Lynne were you organizing a brunch and a dinner?

Welcome, again - although I think you beat me to sign up for the 2011 PC Cruise.

I am looking forward to these two sets of people and two very different cruises. All that free time on the TA and then all the ports on the Med - whew, should be the other way around. I'll need a vacation after 8 ports of call there.

Mele Kalikimaka - we're missing each other by one day on Maui - you leave, I arrive.

We have the names (12 of us) for brunch. No one has talked dinner, yet, though.

Oh and the other thing we were going to organise was a meet of some sort. I saw over on the main thread recommendations of times and places but to be honest, it means nothing to me! So I shall await my instructions of when and where to go!

If you have requested to be in the Brunch Bunch, please email me your cabin # (or GTY) + Reservation number & birthdates (so Disney will know I'm not just picking you out at random)

Oh, yeah, and last names. Which Disney cruise is this for you? (to entertain the person granting reservations)

John & Charlotte (Happy Goofy) cabin 2584
Lynne (auntlynne) GTY
Jeanne (grlzmom) GTY
Sherry (DISNEY_DEPRIVED) ??
Julie (skoi) ??
Brian & Lubi (NC_Tink) cabi 8514
Belinda & Malcolm (shushh) cabin 7088 ?
Lara & Chris (alltheparks) ??

Don't forget there is a $15 pp charge for Palo Brunch (private room or not)

If anyone is interested in a dinner let me know. We like to do the earliest Palo dinner possible. We have late dinning and hate to miss the regular dinners. So after Palo we pick up the kids and head to the regular dinning room. All of this might be hard with all of the port days but we are going to give it a try.

The time I participated in DISboard activities, we had our initial Meet & Greet at 3:00 on Boarding Day. By that time, everyone will be on board. There are no scheduled activities from 3:30 - 4:00 so Cast Members can prepare for the Muster Drill (Life Boat Assembly), which happens at 4:00 pm. We met in the Promenade Lounge - a nice open area.

Sounds good to me!

Lynne, I saw your very useful list of suggested activities from the Panama Canal cruise.

Just canvassing a thought...what do you all think about a "Souvenir Mickey"? Perhaps we could get allocated a small number of cabins to get souvenirs from the actual ports itself. That way, we don't have to drag it there, only to drag it home! We'll probably all get ourselve some souvenirs anyway?!??! Just need to nut out the logistics eg. total cost, how to do it so one cabin doesn't get all their souvenirs from the same port! etc

So, we should go ahead and book individual Palo brunches at our booking window - just in case? I just want to make sure because someone else said that if we have individual ressies - then we can't book with the group. :confused3

Lynne - I'm going to PM you with my and Brian's information. Thanks so much for organizing!! :worship:

Lynne,

I pm'ed you my info for the Palo Brunch. Thanks for taking care of it!

Hope everyone is enjoying a great week and gearing up for a special New Year celebration.

Time is going quickly and can't wait for these cruises!

Several people from the EB TA thread have said that in their own experience, they have booked Palo online and also were included in a group room reservation. When the group reservation was granted, DCL dropped the personal reservation.

So, book away.

I've got almost all the names & ressie #s and will be faxing it very soon. (It has to be there a minimum of 5 working days ahead of the cruise - but I think 3 1/2 months might be better).

Lynne

I feel like this thread is getting the short shrift. Several of us are doing BTB and are spending more time on the first cruise.

LOGO - HAS ANYTHING REALLY STOOD OUT that we'd like to use?

I think I've got most of the ideas on the external website.

I suggest we vote on this Jan 1-5. Ok?

Lynne
