Welcome aboard Lara and family!

Sounds like you have a great travel schedule planned. We've flown through Hong Kong twice, and thought about spending a few days there to go to Disney, but never did. Maybe when we go back with the kids to visit China we'll do it.

And Bangkok sounds great. I'm jealous. I have such a huge, long list of places where I want to go, and they're all so far from the US!

It's strange how we all take things close to home for granted. I always complain about how we're so far away from the States but forget to appreciate how easy it is for us to travel to Asia.

Have you all heard about how they are planning a new Disney park in Shanghai?

Lara, would love to be able to do a cruise-meet after you return from your hectic holiday schedule! We live in North Ryde so we're not too far away. I'll PM you our details shortly.

Hi All

We leave in less then 24 hours for Christmas holiday in the States, so I probably won't be on much. Just wanted to say, that I will try to catch up on this thread, and I will be using all of your pre-cruise research to help plan our shore days. Is there any groups out there that haven't booked privately (or have and can add 3) and are looking to combine with another family to lower cost?

We would be interested in a Palo Brunch meet, and let me know if anyone is doing FE's. I am going to have my crafty Grandma, make a holder for me.

Belinda- my husband works in North Ryde, so we will definately plan a meet when we are back!

Had Palo brunch Halloween '08 cruise; we ordered half portions to keep the calories and stuffed-feeling down. Still too much. Only time I've caviar - may be the last. But a chance to try it, nevertheless.

I know there's a room for 12 or so; but even a table for 4 - 6 - 8 would do.

Wow to everyone on their shore excursion plans! Super impressed and I better get to making some of my own. We are also looking at Berber Village Day and would love to find a review or more info.

Think my booking date for Palo, excursions, etc., is 120 days for Platinum. So, should be somewhere around Christmas?

Platinum is Dec 25
Gold is January 9
Silver is January 24

Not too much later. As people join in closer to the thread, we can have more groups.

I think we should have a plan of attack for making these ressies. There is almost a month between Platinum and Silver. And the newbies won't get in at all on the pre-bookings. They'll just have to go to Wave Bands after boarding and get a time - which will make groups difficult for them.

I've been trying to caught up in reading the posts... i went to the states for Thanksgiving... once i got there, i have no internet access... i almost died! ... But i wanted to confirm my attendence on the cruise with my two kids and if there's room.... i would love to do Palo's, with the adults... since i'm traveling with no other adults i was worried about not being able to have a real conversation...

What are the palo reservations rules? I thought someone in your cabin has to be a platinum member to book at the platinum window. So say, can Jeanne make a reservation for 10? or do we have to provide names?

Thanks, Belinda, I was working on culling the list of Eastbound cruisers by doing a "Search" on the board, then finding a post of theirs and checking their siggie for future cruises and seeing if they posted on another thread that they had cancelled the EB cruise.

136 days until our cruise - time to get serious. And I always expect (and welcome) new additions closer to sail date. I would expect some people to book after final payment, waiting to see if the prices drop - although I can't imagine much lower. Although...I'm paying $799 pp for the EB and $999 for the Med...they could do lower, I suppose. But they definitely have to shell out more port fees on the Med as there are nearly twice as many stops.

Are you back in Italy now?

You can see we are talking Palo's.

I'm traveling with a 16 yo, my niece. She is not into the teen scene, more interested in the movies, shoes, and ports of call. She has spent her life around adults, not kids - homeschooled and attends a small church with no one her age in attendance. Plus, her mother encouraged her four girls to play with each other and did not set them up for outside friendships. Now my sister is trying to find some outlets for the youngest so she won't be alone in 2 years when the rest are off at college or working.

That's 8. Private room holds 12-14. It doesn't have to be only soloists. It just won't be an "intimate" meal for couples. But then, it's daylight and you're in the view of everyone, so really?
