Our first park day will be a full day in MK with a Pre Park opening BOG Breakfast, so we will be getting there early, before 8:00 AM. Crowds are expected to be low levels and its a party day so I'm hoping for a great day in MK getting a lot done by 7:00 when we'd be kicked out since we arent going to party.

I just cant decide if I think we will be ready for a long break at 4:00, so go to dinner then.
Or, try to stay in park til closer to 7:00 to get the most from the day, and end the day with dinner and right off to bed!

We will be in MK later in week for the MvMCP plus probably another half day later in trip.

Do you think if we do the 4:15, it would make sense to go back to MK for the last hour or so that we are allowed to be there? We are staying at Poly. I am leaning towards the 4:15 bc I think a break would be nice by then, but I feel like I'm wasting like 3 good park hours.

7:20 gives us freedom to stay in park as long as we can/want to. Even if the kids fizzle out by 5/5:30, wed have time to go relax in the room for an hour or so then go to dinner. But thats a late dinner and Id like to get an early start the next day....ugh!

Just cant decide, first time going here with all 3 kids (9,7, & 4) and I don't know what to expect!

Maybe I'll snag a 6:00 res within the next week??!!

Thanks!

I'm a bit confused, is there a party that night? If so, you won't be allowed to have an ADR for after 6:59.

Since that is a late dinner, I would consider a sit down lunch to recuperate/rest...The Plaza maybe?

720 for sure! I would plan on a descent snack that day if your trying to do 2 sit downs. 415 is so early and to try to go back to mk an hr or so after dinner to me wouldn't be worth it. Mk is too big and takes too long to get into it! Plus if its a party night they are allowed to arrive as early as 4 I've heard meaning the will be alot of people coming early! If it was my family... No question it would be the 720 time. Plus my kids 1, 5,8,15 none of them are ready to leave at closing time to pull them out at 4 would not make any of us happy. Hope you have a great trip!

Wow thanks, it sounds like 7:20 is a no brainer. That just sounds like such a long day to me! But its our first day, moods should be good, it ought to work.
Any idea about how long dinner at 1900 PF takes? Would we be able to see Holiday wishes from the MVMCP over the castle from GF anywhere after our dinner?

I always plan on 75 to 90 minutes.

I'll be a voice of dissent. My kids wouldn't make it waiting for dinner at 7:20, it's too late for them with such an early start. Arriving for a pre-opening breakfast is early, and without a break during the day, we'd be done by 4. Not to mention that they'd be hungry long before 7:20. But we are not, and have never been, stay from opening to close type of people.

I totally agree.... If you are starting your day at 8 am, I think all of you will be done by 3 or 4. For my family, a 7:20 dinner is way too late. You probably wouldn't get back to your hotel room until 9:30 - 10 and I'd think it would be too much for one day esp a 4 yr old. The other thing is you want your family to enjoy the character meal and they will be far more energetic at 4:15.

You can take a boat from MK to the GF so I think it will only take between 45 min and the most 1 hr to get there.

If you plan on taking a midday break, I would consider the 7 pm meal.

That's a long day. What time do your children normally eat dinner? I would look for an ADR around that time. Since you are going to MK another day, I wouldn't try to pack it all in. I think 6-7 hours is fairly reasonable with young children. While all of these things sound like fun, they become much less fun when the kids get overtired and start to melt down. You can also see the fireworks from Poly. I think I would look for an ADR in the 5-6 pm range and play the fireworks by ear.

Our first park day was a MK day beginning with an 8:05 CP ADR. It was just dh, 8 yo dd, and me, and it was a party day. Our plan had been to stay until 7:00, but I could tell that everyone was on overload by 4:00, so we left the park and did CS at our resort and used the pool for awhile. I am so glad we did that because, for us, it set a good tone and pace to the trip. But, for us, our overall trip plan was not to go, go, go because it wouldn't have worked well for dh or dd. Unless you think your family can keep up that pace for the trip, I think the earlier ADR may be better. Plus, everyone will likely have more enjoyment during the meal if you do it before anyone hits the wall. BTW, Park Fare was a favorite of our trip.

If you are planning to be at a park for RD the next day, I'd take the 4:15. No point in burning out your family on day 1. Plus you will be back at MK later in your trip.

Omg I don't know what to do, lol! My gut tells me 7:10 is too late, but If we have to leave MK by 3:15 for the early dinner, I hate wasting that time, I think we'd still be going pretty strong at 3.
I am leaning toward 4:15 now though I think. I want them to enjoy the dinner and I don't really want to be out until 10:00 that night, that is overload.
I really want to try 1900pf so I'm not going to book another restaurant I don't think.
Thanks so much for all your points of view, so helpful!

My advice would be to go with your gut. Something else to keep in mind is that not being in a park does not mean you're not actively participating in and enjoying your vacation. If you look at your meal time and resort time as a part of your vacation instead of as time away from your vacation, it may help in making your decisions.

Thanks, very true! My one daughter would prefer to lounge around the hotel the whole trip anyway actually, so this will make her happy!
