4:15 @ Ohanas. Can I watch parade?

That said, I do not know if I recommend this for a first time visitor. It might be confusing

Yeah maybe not seeing I'm traveling with a 4 and 6 yo old! I'm trying to do all my must dos on the first day and the parade is a must do!

The Monorail is probably going to be the fastest, but if there is a boat right there and handy without a big line to board, that may be faster. As for directions, the Boat Launch will be ahead and a little to the RIGHT as you exit MK. The Monorail will be more to the RIGHT, but make sure you go up the ramp for "Resort Monorail" as there is the "Express Monorail" that goes straight to the TTC (parking lot) and does not stop at the resorts. They travel in opposite directions too, so the Resort Monorail will stop at the Contemporary, the TTC, and then the Polynesian. It may help to have a look at some maps to get a feel for it.

I considered the "view-parade-in-Frontierland-then-run-through-Main-St." option.

That's when I decided the "view-parade-at-train-station" would be safer.

I've been caught on the wrong side of a closed MK exit path (due to the parade)
on my way to an ADR at the Poly.
Nope.
Not a happy time.

I think you may mean "right" in that last part. If you're leaving the MK (facing towards the 7 Seas Lagoon with the MK at your back), the monorail station is towards the right. Unless you meant to be describing it as if facing the other way.

Yeah, caught it and fixed it.

But I really don't like to be late, and I wouldn't enjoy the parade feeling like I have to rush.

If I can add my bit of advice on getting to the Poly in the quickest manner possible....
When you leave MK.... visually check the Poly/GF resort launch dock - if you see a boat coming in, about to dock, or boarding - take the boat. It stops at GF before Poly, FYI.
If you do NOT see a boat anywhere close (and especially if one has just left), take the Resort Monorail line to Poly.
You plan seems doable to me - no room for error, but doable.

I agree with GADisneyDad14 regarding the exit travel strategy. The most it has ever taken me to get from Magic Kingdom to the Poly is 20-25 minutes by boat or monorail. Good luck!!

I have done this as well with all adults. No stopping but you should be out of the park before the parade gets to the square which would put you on your way by about 3pm from a 2pm start. Don't watch the parade at the exit gate as it takes a long time for it to travel across the park. Watching in Frontierland means you are one of the first to see and finish seeing it. (Just for reference did this during MNSSHP and stopped in the Hub before entering the Emporium and was able to watch the parade a second time!)

The parade starts at 3, so they could likely make it using this method, but it will be tight.
