We have been on the 3 & 4 day cruises, but this was our first 7 day. It was also our first time booking a cruise using our DVC points.

Sunday 4/11
Happy Easter! I woke up before the sunrise, so I walked up to deck 9 to grab a coffee and watch the sun come up. What a sight! Took a couple of pictures, did some exploring, then heading back to the cabin. This was one of the times that I really did miss the cat. 6. Sitting on a window ledge looking out the window while the rest of the family is snoozing is not quite the same as sitting out on your verandah! I actually did sit there for a little while just looking out the window and wishing the window ledge was about 2 inches wider. When I started to get bored, I opened up the curtain and made a little noise so the rest of the crew would wake up.

Today was our scheduled character breakfast, but it conflicted with the DVC get-together. Since the boys are a little older and we have done quite a few character breakfasts at WDW, we opted to skip the breakfast and go to the DVC meeting in Diversions. We each got a red DVC hat and a DVC lanyard as we checked in, as well as some DVC luggage tags. We grabbed a snack and had a seat while the DVC CM's did their thing. They played a trivia game and I won a t-shirt. Most of the meeting was a promotional thing for DVC. Glad I went this time but think I'll skip on any future cruises.

We pulled in to Key West right on time and the weather was beautiful. After a little basketball and sun, we ate lunch then headed off the ship. We did not have anything planned other than to walk around Duvall Street and go to the Southermost point. Duvall was pretty much what I expected, lots of people and lots of bars. We stopped at the Hard Rock Cafe for drinks and a snack, then continued on. We eventually crossed over to Whitehead Street, which got a little creepy. Lots of unusual people around that made me a little jittery, not that that's a hard thing to do. We saw lots of roosters, a man sitting on the corner with a machete, and argument between a couple of teens with some heated words being exchanged, and a very drunk guy standing at the southernmost point offering to take pictures of us with our camera. Uh, no thanks. We took a very quick picture of the boys then started back toward the ship.

We rested up a bit, then headed down to Mallory Square. What an experience! Lots of interesting acts going on all around. I saw a t-shirt that read "Key West, Where the Weird turn Pro". That about sums it up! It was a lot of fun to look around, even though the sunset was not that spectacular that night. By now it was about 8:00 and rain was on its way, so we walked back to the ship to get ready for dinner.

Tonight was our dinner at Palo. I had originally planned on the boys grabbing pizza or room service, but Dennis(our server) insisted that they come to Parrot Cay for dinner. They thought that would be fun so off they went, while we went to Palo. We had a 9:00 reservation, but showed up at 8:30 and asked if we could be seated, otherwise we would come back. They said no problem and sat us right away. We brought our bottle of champagne with us from the REAS package and they put it on ice for us. Milan was our waiter and gave us the most outstanding service. He was as professional as you can get and helped to make this great evening even better. We walked out of the best dinner of our trip completely stuffed!

The boys went and saw a 10:30 showing of "The Alamo". We were too full and too tired to go out and missed "Match your Mate". I heard this was a fun show.

The next day was to be our first day at sea, and I was already thinking how nice it would be to sleep in!

i love reading reports. thanks for posting, sounds like easter was great on the ship.
