Are those of you who are on the 10:50 AM Aer lingus flight taking Disney transfers to the airport or hiring a driver?

We're on that flight too! I was planning on just getting a cab to the airport. Should we get together and hire a van or something (since there seems to be several of us on this flight)?

I read on another thread that April 1st cruisers have been getting their room assignments! Anyone on our cruise gotten a change from GTY to a real stateroom # yet?

OMGoodness! I can hardly keep up:surfweb: and am so thankful:worship: to all of you who have gone on this cruise before and are a wealth of information. I am beginning to think it will take me all 6 dea days to be ready for the ports. :rotfl: and then Woody talks about these great on ship tours. . .and I think:idea: what a great idea, I want to do that too!

So I am here just not keeping up very well. :scared1: My DH will get interested and start asking questions about a week or two out :sad2: so it's on me until then.

My QOTD is this: Does anyone who cruises often or has done a transatlantic before have a somewhat standard list of things to do before you go? Not so much stop the mail (we are leaving grown kids at home)or what to pack (got those list) BUT maybe a bit more specific to an extended cruise or ???? Hardly know what I mean myself!! Favorite can't live without item? Way you keep paperwork/info organized? How you remember all the stuff you've read on the Dis? Biggest wish I had done/not done???

I know everyone is different but something may pop out that is huge for a relative newbie ya know?

Again, HUGE Thanks to All! Can't wait to meet this great group.

...Yes, we have read this entire 163+ pages - by reading the "last thread" do you mean the last post of these pages or the last set of pages (#2) on the EBTA series of pages?

The "last thread" is the previous set of 250 (or so) pages before we moved to this current "thread" of posts. Impressive to even get caught up with the pace we are moving.

I feel like I'm missing a cultural reference here - someone, please tell me what this is! Thanks,
Ann

(Sir) Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Records, Virgin Airlines, etc.. Necker Island is Sir Richard Branson's well-known exclusive island in the British Virgin Islands. This luxurious 74-acre private island is off the west end of Virgin Gorda.

I remember seeing the house/island during a TV show, The Rebel Billionaire (with Richard Branson).

Just googled this and found that there are multiple vacation spots of his you can rent.

Thanks for the info..on your signature what "hunt" are you referencing where it says the hunt begins in...

Wait a minute, aren't you bringing your own cougar with you?

Steve, is it just a group for adults or are children welcome? Do you know if the fountain is within walking distance of the pier or will transportation be needed?

The show is an open air family event ... we will just be organizing meeting locations for DISers. I have not researched this (Aunt Lynne provided the initial information, I think), but it supposedly is not TOO far from the port. I believe it is touted as walking distance (or short cab ride) from the port. I am not short how long the walk is, or whether those with mobility issues will want / need a cab. (Update: check post #2493, page 167 of this thread, for additional information).

--Remember to check page one, thread #8, for information on shipping *stuff* to the cruise ship. Yes, you can ship a suitcase (or a suitcase of FE supplies) via UPS or Fed Ex ... for delivery to the cruise ship. The shipping address is for the DCL warehouse in / near Orlando - and NOT at Port Canaveral. There are specific instructions for labeling your shipment, which MUST arrive at the warehouse @ 24 hours prior to embarkation. Suggestion: Take your pre-boxed shipment (or secured luggage, with TSA locks) to a Fed Ex Office or UPS Store, versus having THEM put the item in a box for you. If you have them do the work, you will likely pay @ DOUBLE the cost of shipping alone.

We are on this flight as well. There are 5 of us in our travel party (4 adults/ 1 Child). I would be interested in renting a van as a group-- however-- I paid for the Disney transfers (port to airport)... Is it possible to get a credit from them at this point?

You can pay them about $1200 and they will refund you the transfer $. :rotfl:

It's like my trying to get the $100 pp discount on the new Cat 12 rates.

Just checked before signing on...nothing yet.

I'd be curious to know that too Dishy....I am OK with using the dis transport I already paid for as long as I know they will have one leaving early enough to account for baggage check, boarding etc... (which I hear in now recommended to be getting to the airport almost 2 hours before departure)

I'd hate to pay for it and wind up having to take a cab because of timing..however at this late date...wouldI even get credit for it if I cancelled the port to airport by disney?

Anyone else know?

To all concerned,
According to a map of Barcelona that I have been studying,
the Fountains are at least three Metro stops from the port, (plus
a walk from the ship to the first Metro stop), plus a walk from
the third Metro stop to the Fountains, and it is uphill!

Considering we will be traveling at night in a port we are unfamilar with, I would reccommend a car/van/minibus, etc.

Something to consider.

I have Disney transfers and my flight leaves at 10am. I don't know about on the cruise but when I used Disney the last time I went to WDW they got us to the airport with plenty of time to deal with luggage and get through security.

As Lynne recently said, "its better to give than to receive".

In that light, I have a possible delemma.
I fully intend to give out to any and all FE's I come across, adults and
children.
However, as a solo traveler, with plans to extend my time in Barcelona, and
a layover in London, baggage will be an issue.
I was thinking that if I receive the quantity of goodies past cruisers have
listed, it may be a problem.

Would anyone think me ungrateful, rude, crass, impolite, or be hurt, if I
regifted anything I may not need, use, want, or can carry off comfortably?

2nd issue. Since I may not know who gave what, I may wind up regifting it
to the person who gave it. Major "faux pa"!:confused3

Comments, Suggestions, Flames?

Perhaps gift the stewards? Some things might not work, but others might.

Pam, don't forget you can also give some things to your stateroom host if you want. You just have to be clear that it is for them, (put their name on it, hand it to them) don't just leave it in the stateroom, then they can't take it.

When I've done the FE I usually have a bag of candy (less the chocolate:lmao:) that I give to my host/hostess.

.

Well I ordered my FE today - that is one more thing off my list.

I ordered it with 4 pockets:

Top pocket is for the whole family
2nd pocket is me and hubby together
3rd pocket is for DD (15)
4th pocket is for DS (12/13)

I am really excited - purchased it in Lime Green! Which is the one color that our lanyards are not.

I guess it time to start working on more details like this, now that we've gotten people signed up for FE, SM, etc.

I think I knew this was not right by the ship and was looking for anyone else interested in it but didn't want to attempt it on their own (at night - that's right, sunset at 8:40 pm). Showtimes are 7, 7:30, 8, 8:30 (per a website I visited - would think this would be later with the late sunset).

Taxi, mini-van, some form of $ transportation (not our $-free feet).

Time to start the research. Whoever comes up with a great plan, let us know. Don't know how many people yet - just toss out some ideas and we'll brainstorm.

Hey Krissann - ordered the Med cruise lanyards this week. Guess they will be here in a few weeks. Ordered 550 name badge holders - should cover both the TA and Med.

We also haven't gotten our flight information from DCL. Called them and they don't even know when we might find out.

It would be funny if we got our room assignments before we got our flights.
