We have done European travel before, but only one time. Both of our kids have traveled to Europe, also. We have cruised before, but not on DCL. We are so excited about this trip. Our last cruise was 11 days and 8 ports. Not a lot of time to explore the ship. It was a small ship and we took this cruise for the ports, not the ship.

This time, I think it is more for the ship than the ports. Since we have so much time at sea, we are looking forward to time on the ship with the characters, shows, movies and other things to do on the ship. We will be exploring the ports we stop in!

By the way, I am interested in the Christmas workshop someone mentioned previously.

Okay, so I can't count nor can I read what is below my forum name!! Anywho, I PM'd you Lynne and that is about it for me today! See you all in 52 or so days!

So I just heard that the Black Pearl is in Hawaii and not at Castaway Cay

I was really looking forward to seeing it as I haven't done a cruise since they moved it there...and I don't think it will be back before we go because the movie is filming this summer.

So we need a mini-nav and I'm sort of in charge, I think. Questions: FE and SM teams -- can I get lists from you of participants and corresponding cabins? I think I'll have a CHANGES column for last minute upgrades that people can just pencil in at the Meet 'N Greet.

Are we looking for one mini-nav per cabin or per person? And do we have a Master List of cruisers / cabins, even those not participating in FE / SM / Lanyards?

I'll probably come up with more questions soon...:lmao::lmao:

Did you ever wonder where they got the colors for the ships?
--It most certainly was not automobile related. It was, in fact, based upon Mickey's traditional Black, Red and Yellow colors.

Since Maritime law only permitted orange lifeboats, DCL had to petition to get permission to use yellow lifeboats. Once Disney proved yellow was just as safe, they were granted permission to use yellow. Since then, other ships have been able to use yellow lifeboats.

With regard to black / dark blue ... Maritime law does not enable a ship to be painted black (not sure of the exact verbiage). Eisner wanted the traditional Mickey colors, and also wanted the look of a classic ocean liner. Techically, the black on the bottom of the ship is actually a very dark blue ... copied from a Disney secretary's dress. By using the dark blue color (there is a specific name for the color), Disney did hot have to challenge Maritime law.

I learned this information from when I took an on-ship tour, during a sea-day.

--Flying Dutchman is in Castaway Cay. What movie are you referring to (being filmed)?

Well that's good because someone told me it was the Black Pearl in Castaway Cay and I couldn't remember or find it on the DCL website. Someone I'm friends with on fb said something about them filming the new pirate movie maybe she has her information wrong though and I didn't take the time to check her.

Never would have guessed it wasn't black. Thanks for the information. By the way, what tour on ship was it that you took to find out this information?

It's called MONICA blue..... :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:....really, it is called that. That's 1 fact that I'll never forget!!

Me too! (isn't pack rat another name scrapbooked??) :lmao: We can use anything/everything in our scrapbooks! I also find myself taking pics of everything too.

Last time we went to Disney World, I believe I had approximately 2000-3000 pictures when I got home. I whittled that down to about 200-300 good pictures that I kept. Gotta love them digital cameras. I usually run mine on the sports setting for multiple shots (takes 3-4 quick series shots) so I can get 1 really good shot. And I don't delete until I get home because my screen is so small that I cannot tell if detail is good or not (or I'm just getting old and cannot see so great!).

Popping in on my lunch break! Hope you don't mind if I read with my mouth full! :lmao:

Lynne, will be sending you a PM, I have an e-mail contact for group requests to share with you.

Is anyone else planning a group activity that might require arrangements made in advance?

.....ok...need my hands to eat now.......

Not pack rat - it's COLLECTOR of interesting stuff :rotfl2:

You should see the page a friend's son made of their trip to Ireland. He drew an Irish harp on acetate and then used art institute glitter (the best) to fill it in. The page looked awesome.

Steven,

I knew that, also from an on ship tour, I did not catch that you could not use black though. I was just playing off the colors on the car, for some reason I have DCL on the Brain.
