So there's no luggage tag program that will take care of getting our bags checked in at Barcelona, like Magic Express does?? I was hoping we could leave our bags outside of our cabin and then not have to worry about them again until we got to London. Our bags are going to be tough because we have so many people and so much to keep track of!

We had the tags but they were not organized!

WELCOME TAMMY & FAMILY. :welcome:

Well, that horror story of transfer to airport in Barcelona was really scary. It's got me thinking about a private tranfer to the airport despite having booked Disney air. Anybody had a good experience? Am I just overreacting? It's just me. So the group issues won't apply. I suppose it will really depend on flight departure time.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

We were DCL's first go at it so I hope it got better. I know after the cruise there were quite a few posts of people having really bad experiences too.

Well, it could only get better from what we had....LOL :rotfl:

My family and I decided to book the transatlantic cruise today. I am so excited!! I am wondering how/where do I sign up for the lanyards, meet and greets and the Secret Mickey?

Thanks so much!
Tammy

Welcome! As for the Lanyards - you get one by being part of the group = lynne will capture your info and add it to the cruiser list then you just need to make sure it is all spelled correctly and we will have lanyards waiting for you!

Now a couple of questions for you:

How is the best way to get to the hotel from the airport? just pay the 15 euros per person for the fast train or hire a private car?
The last time we went from Charles de Gaulle airport to DLP, we took the high speed train. Travel time was 10 minutes. But you have to walk to the train station in the airport, wait in line to buy tickets, and wait for the next train.

I would also consider the Disney bus from the airport to DLP. With luggage, that would be easier since, as I recall, the pickup is not far from baggage claim. While the ride takes longer, buses run more frequently.

Do you know how much the shuttle to the entrance of Disneyland is? and is that where the train station is that we would take into Paris?

The first time we stayed at the Marriott de I'lle de France, the shuttle van was free. The second time (Oct. 2008), it was a public bus and costs 1 EUR or so per person.

Yes, it's the same train station.

Surprise your fellow cruisers with a small gift in their Fish Extender!

This is the Fish Extender gift giving list according to general info and by cabin number. If anyone is doing gifts according to age, or by gender, etc, please see the website for a more detailed breakdown. I will add the room numbers to the list as they are assigned since many do not have room assignments yet.
Also, if anyone sees something that is incorrect and needs to be fixed or changed (some people are giving gifts according to the amount of people and not cabins), or if you do not see your name on this list and would like to be added, please pm me, michelle2.

Some ideas of past things that I have gotten as FE gifts are: strings of mardi gras beads, pirate or other tattoos, stickers, pens and pencils with customized info about the cruise on them, small toys, candy, door magnets, bubbles, party favors, antenna toppers, etc....

We have decided on some general guidelines:
DEADLINE TO JOIN THE FE GROUP WILL BE FEBRUARY 1ST. (Due to having enough time and notice to specially prepare gifts.) If someone wants to join after this date, a second group can be added.

Michelle - I know the deadline has passed but are you starting a list of people who are new that might want to be part of a 2nd group? Even though I am in the first group I still have items left that and I would be glad to be in the 2nd group for the newbies if any of them wanted to join the 2nd group. There may also be others in the first group who have extras depending on how many newbies. Just wanted to see about the 2nd list.

we hope to have limited luggage and a Porter case, so moving the luggage will not really be an issue and I think the train is a little cheaper.

thanks for the info on the shuttle/public bus.

We are really excited about staying there.

.......
This is actually the third thread. If you go to the meets part of the forum, look for 2010 Magic dates and then look for April 10, these are listed:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1975762
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2079049

Then our present one is the third. There is even a kids one listed:

:rotfl: OH, I thought there was a thread about this cruise totally different from this one, not preceeding this one. What a relief--I am over 30 pages behind and may just skip them at this rate so it is good to know I am not missing a whole other group.
THANKS :thumbsup2

Well we know DCL has booked 10AM flights...Anyone any earlier?

.

We're on a 9:30 AM flight and I'm hoping it will go smoothly. We'll have breakfast in our room (concierge) and have a private car waiting to take us to the airport. I am not sure what we'll do about our luggage. I'd rather not check it at 11PM. We'll chat with concierge when we get on the ship.

We had no problems with DCL transfers going to LAX on our last cruise. We did hear of people getting off the ship very early to make flights.

Brooklyn, your experience sounds awful. :sad2: I do not want to end my travels that way. *fingers crossed*

Well... guns, gangs, schioprenic customers, same sex gone wrong, peeing in public, children left unattended, illegal exposures, teens in same bathroom, snakes, maggots, staff being hit, drugs buys.... and this is just some of the stuff. :scared1:

Details can be given on the ship.

Kristi

Now you've done it....I'll be thinking of these things the next time I'm at the library :rotfl:

Monica got our flight to London booked. We went with the 11AM ..... because we were able to get Sat NIGHT tickets for three to the new Andrew Lloyd Weber (oh, is that Sir Andrew now?) musical. I'm soooooo excited :goodvibes Monica has got me whipped into a frenzy over this! Mosey over to youtube and search Love Never Dies, there are a couple of posts of the opening song.

MONICA YOU ROCK GETTING THIS ALL ORGANIZED! :dance3:

:thumbsup2

.

Why should I be the only one ubber excited??? The more the merrier, right?? :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Tammy

WELCOME! We've only been booked ourselves for less than 2 weeks (really?? - that's it???)....I'm talking about Jackie, Pam & myself :goodvibes

Planning conference call done! Flights and hotels should all be booked by early next week.

Linda, sent you a PM regarding Madeira.:thumbsup2

We will be going straight to London and staying there till Monday and have picked a place to stay. Now Pam (who has never been there) is assigned research to see what she'd most like to do/see. I was there for a week THIRTY years ago and Moncia has been about half a dozen times.

Cadiz is the port I have to do more research on/look at DCL excursions. Somehow it will feel wrong for this former horse owner not to go see the riding academy, but I'd rather learn/see more about the city or look at the Seville excursions.

Lots of hours :surfweb: will be required (like I do anything else anyway!).

.

LOL :lmao:
Jackie and Monica are in PLAN-ation MODE!
And we will all get the benefit of their discoveries!

:yay: THANKS!!

I write about getting organized for Christmas and focus on the year round aspect.
.
VERY INTERESTING!
Where would people buy these? Do they include homemade decorations? recipes? packing items away safely?
.
other topics or only Christmas?
.

Ok my FE's are done! This is amazing for me because normally I am sitting in the cabin taking up time away from the cruise! So finally after 4 cruises I have learned how to do it correctly!

I have everyone family/disers gifts inside a baggie with their Dis name and ages on a card. Once we get a final list of cabin numbers I will put each deck into a plastic bag so it will be easy to do deck by deck when we get on the ship.

Now I can move on to getting my secret Mickey items ready! I am ready to know about the people my family has been assigned so I can personalize some of the gifts to their likings!

Brooklyn - sorry for making you think of that :scared1: experience, but thank you for the input.

We're planning on doing a pre-booked sedan from the port to the airport, so I figure some of that stuff will be eliminated. Figure they should be able to drop us off at the correct terminal. The bus to the airport is pretty standard in alot of international airports so I'm not worried about that one....I figure they won't even let you on THAT bus unless you're making the flight :lmao:

We are mostly wondering when there will be a customs/immigrations agent at the port early enough to look at our passports to let us go.

Where did you make arrangements for the private sedan? That sounds like a great idea!

I just checked the FE list on Lynne's website, and we're not on it! We are listed on the one that's on the 1st page of this thread, so I haven't bothered to check the other list, but now I'm panic-ing. Is there a way to fix this at this late time, or are we out of luck for this cruise's FE?

Thanks,
Ann

Don't panic. My list is not the final word. Michelle is handling FEs; and I don't think I've updated that list (since before vacation?)

You ARE listed on the official list at the beginning of this thread. That's the official one - so breath in, breath out...
