Welcome, Newbies!

No, its' not too late to get a lanyard. Just by posting here, you can be on the list. I know all of our many pages are daunting but have you checked out the first 10 posts or so on page 1? Auntlynne has made a fabulous web page for the people on this cruise and the first Med one. There is lots of useful info. Check out the link in post 2.

DCL ... said we would be able to get off the ship at 0845 in Madeira. But with the stipulation that it could always change.

As with age, time in ports is a moving target as well. I would bet on the latest information PUBLISHED ONLINE by DCL. If you are booking private excursions, as if they have earlier appointments, in case we dock earlier. If you reserve an early / private excursion ... make sure you know (in advance) what rammifications you will be exposed to if you are late, or do not make it there in time.

Last time I checked, there is one other ship in port (MSC). I am not sure when they are scheduled to dock. If we get there before MSC ... you should have no problem amending your tour to an earlier time slot, provided the tour operator is willing.

This is my family's first cruise on DCL and we are very much anxious to get onboard and start having fun!! I have just joined the DISboard and am trying to absorb all the information you've been passing back and forth.

:welcome: Make sure you read the first 10-15 posts on page 1 & 2 of this thread. It is FILLED with lots of useful information. As for lanyards ... I believe someone will advise on the topic shortly.

Hello Everyone,

This is my family's first cruise on DCL and we are very much anxious to get onboard and start having fun!! I have just joined the DISboard and am trying to absorb all the information you've been passing back and forth...thank you for it!!
I have a quick question - is it too late to sign up for the lanyard/nametag? If not, how do I sign up for it for my family?
Thank you!

Welcome Newbies!.... Check out page 1 of this thread...its has lots of info for you about groups , websites etc...etc....
I am sure someone from the lanyard team will get back to you about that....but for the rest...enjoy the ride!

ona side note..... the plows have still not plowed my road ..still here in my Jammies :cool1:

To answer AuntLynne's questions, yes, I am a female cantor. (Actually, officially I am a cantorial soloist, as I didn't do the 5 years of schooling it takes for the title. I trained as an opera singer in college and in my early 20's.) Our synagogue is unaffiliated, but there are women cantors in many Reform, Reconstructionist and Conservative congregations. In many synagogues, the cantor/cantorial soloist is a paid position and often choirs are only used at High Holy Days (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur).

At our services, I lead all of the musical prayers (in Hebrew) and those who want to join in can. We have a very participatory group at Temple Micah! The Hebrew part of the service is mostly the same from week to week and there are many prayers that are expected to be in any given service. Since this will be a Shabbat evening service, it is shorter, as the Torah isn't read. I'm excited about putting one together for the cruise. leading a service onboard is something I haven't done on a DCL cruise before.

P.S. I am jealous of those of you heading off to Paris & DLP!! I loved it when we went 10 years ago.

Too much fun. :lmao: Now you need to define "older" unless someone could be "younger" than you but still older. Then we will know who is safe,:tiptoe:

T

Too young will always be anyone under 30 - however I also consider anyone 5 - 7 years younger than me to be "younger". Does that clarify anything? popcorn::

Am I still missing someone? Here are the people who have PMed / emailed me their info for 2nd Palo Brunch:

Obobber
ibouncetoo
slcmom
kileybeth
scottjm
Dertoyou

Total of 12.

We can take 2 more people. Any takers? I thought someone else expressed interest. If so, please PM me with real name(s) and reservation #. I plan to request 4/16 @10:30 AM for this group, if that works for everyone.

Thanks for doing this! Send that puppy in....we can always add the final two! :thumbsup2

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Personally - I'd prefer the upgrade ON the ship :lmao:

We are now CONFIRMED at the CARTREF HOUSE in a triple on the 1st floor.....one more thing OFF that list :thumbsup2

YEAH!

Now we can allocate that bonus to an upgrade....however, I really think I'd rather have a cat 10 than an 8 or 9. I love having the 'bedroom' in the back and the 'living room' in the front of the stateroom. And the split beds in the inside cabin make a nice 'daybed' kind of set up. I'm expecing at least $700 for each level of upgrade for a 14 day cruise. And I'd definately pay that to go from oceanview to verandah, don't know about inside to oceanview....I'd trade that light for a MESS of drinks of the day! :lmao:

Hello DISCruiseNewbies! Good to see you here. :thumbsup2

:welcome:

Do you guys have kids joining you on this vacation? We have two daughters, ages 4 & 8.

Hey Brooklyn, DISCruiseNewbies are extend family of ours. Yes, they have little ones as well but I'll let them elaborate. We also have one more "family" coming as well with a couple of little ones too.

Our girls can't wait to meet and make new friends onboard. This will be such a blast.

I've told my boss that my vacation is a "family reunion". :cool1:

So today I send my DD (8) to school with her Valentine's for her class. Each kid was getting a large Hersey bar with a personalized wrapper. Our family LOVES Disney and I never think twice using anything Disney for them. Well apparently the kids in DD's class laughed at them and said that they were for babies...:sad2:

Here is what they looked like. I thought they were cute.

3rdGradeValentine.png

They did say they liked the large chocolate bar. :sad2: They should, they were 4.5oz chocolate bars! DH said if they did not like them they should have given back the chocolate!

Oh well, I just figured I would share my sad story with fellow Disney fans.

Since when did 3rd graders become to cool for everything?!?!?!?!? :confused3

Too young will always be anyone under 30...

I think under 30 is a fabulous age! :worship:

Hmmm ... can I sit by the adult pool to "rate" the 20-something's on a scale of 1-10, via flash cards (aka boxing ring style)? Do you think that would be inappropriate? Okay guys, who else is with me on this? If necessary, we can head up to the Outlook Bar, to judge in seclusion (and be closer to the bar)!

<<Hershey's candy bar>> Brooklyn - the candy bar was very thoughtful. Do you think they said BABIES becasue of Winnie the Pooh, or chocolate? The classmates deserve a BIG BOO!

It is a shame that some kids are growing up so fast.... but its their loss....we BIG kids (and little ones) can play the day away on our TA soon! ...if they had a "stick my tongue out and do raspberries" smiley face I'd send you one for your DD to take to class tomorrow

Tell them there are a whole lot of adults who will gladly take their "baby" chocolate bars in their FE's!

I think they are cute and not Babyish for 3rd graders - hey what do they know - they are only 3rd graders :) LOL

It was bc of Winnie the Pooh she said. I just did not even think of it like that. I almost used Mickey and Minnie kissing but I thought they would think that was gross. I guess I was not going to win either way!

Yeah when she is missing 4 weeks of school for "baby" Disney characters we will see who is laughing! :rotfl2:

The best part is Brooklyn does not care. She liked them and was happy to hand them out! :thumbsup2 Here is to hoping she stays sweet forever. :lovestruc

This was 3 years ago. I am not sure any of us look like this anymore...:rotfl2:
