I hope you all don't mind my lurking here. I was originally booked on this Trans but had to move to the 2011 due to finances and scheduling conflicts....it seems soooooooo far away, and the Meet thread for that cruise is not really taken off yet. I have to live vicariously thru u guys for awhile yet, and can't wait for the trip reports and pics!

I was wondering about your status. Glean what you can.

Here are the April high temps averages:

Castaway Cay ~ 80F
Madiera~67F
Cadiz ~ 59F
Gibraltar~68F
Barcelona~62F

So, what does all this mean?
Shorts, capris, long pants, jeans
Light jackets, heavy jackets, sweatshirts

Oh My.....what it means is a big suitcase!

Yes, thanks for sharing and posting. I was sorta dreading the fact that a wide range of climate would need to be covered for the packing. Oh well.
We usually pack an extra duffle bag (something very collapsible) for all the stuff we end up buying and bringing back.

Are there any good opporunities to buy clothing, either on the cruise ship (Disney wear) or at any of our ports of call? I would imagine on the ship, the deals may be slim. Although for repositioning cruises, they are usually selling all their previous destination clothing at discounts. Does Disney sell any clothing that one can only purchase on a cruise ship? I haven't found any mention of ideal clothing purchases at any of the ports.

As for Spa services, I was going to book a pedi. but I have read on the DIS that the service is not very good. Anyone have any experience with it??

Its a little pricey for what you pay for but I add the foot treatment for a little more and it seems to be more pampering they massage/exfoliate it longer than your regular Pedi
I thought it was fine...the girl was a little rough filing at first..but you should have seen my heals :) ...and she backed off after I mentioned something....It was very relaxing (after the initial foot giggles) and the polish stayed on for the entire cruise and beyond....:yay:

Yes, the Panama crossing we purchased sweat jackets specific to that cruise. In December we purchased two pair of shorts with the disney logo on one of the pant legs - they were discounted and were a great purchase, good quality, fit and comfort. I purchased a gray sweat jacket with little minnie logo and DH purchased priates sweat jacket. We will bring all of these items with us on this cruise as they will be perfect for the lower temperatures. :)

I have not yet, but this cruise will be my first  Any suggestions?

T
I have never have a bad massage on the ship...big or small. By the way they have onboard specials on some days (sometimes Port days) that you can get a mixture of things or a discounted massage ....

If you like body massages then that would be my suggestion. If you are not sure you may want to try a chair massage as the spa will typically have two set-up in quite cove on sea days. :goodvibes

QOTD: Do you partake of the spa services?

I have once before on a different cruise line, but its not something I usually do onboard. The reason is that I can get the treatment much cheaper from a spa at home and really I'd rather do it as a little treat for myself in between vacations...for me just the vacation is relaxing enough, I'd rather give myself a massage or mani/pedi to look forward to after a tough week at home.

Of course we don't mind! lurk away!

Very helpful! I am thinking those temps look more like pants and jeans weather to me. We were in the low 60's in the Baltic and FROZE, but it was fun!

yep just call disney cruise line number and tell them you want to do an OBC for your account - all you need is your reservation number. I think the min. is like $10.

Thanks for the info.

need some opinions:

I have the option of 2 flights I can do - both requiring a night stay - which one sounds better -

First: Dublin to MCO for $502 - getting in at 5:30 (10.5 hours travel) then spend the night at Hyatt (in the airport so no shuttles) on one of those vouchers and let the bellman go get my luggage - then fly out the next day at 12:25 to Nashville (ticket is $105) and then the hopper flight to Jackson at 8:30 pm - home at 9:30 pm

I'd do the first flight. The Hyatt sounds a lot more convenient.

Kristi, I think you're doing an admirable job. That's all anyone can ask for.

Hang in there.

Woody

I agree! Good job!

I didn't see Mama's Fish House on the list...

Great news! :woohoo: My mom is booked!!!!! Thanks for the cat 12 rate info -- she doesn't care about the size of her room, she's just happy to be coming along. My girlies are going to flip! :dance3:

I told her that I think she'll be upgraded. :confused3 What are her chances? She sailed Cat 6 on the WB PC...

Not enough time to hit all the restaurants; however, this is my fourth trip to Maui and I still haven't gotten there. I' guessing it is one of your favorites...

Aren't you keeping this trip secret from your girls? If so, when do they find out? and when would they find out about grandma?

New Navigator design on the Wonder - is this on the Magic also?

They are in color, not just brown on white. Check it out from the DISboard cruise home page - there is one from a 4 day Bahamas cruise.

They are still able to come up with things to improve the experience!

Second: Dublin to Nashville for $571, (travel time 15.5 hours) getting in at 9 pm - spend the night in Nashville (have to claim luggage, take shuttle to hotel both ways) and then take 1:15 hopper flight to Jackson - home at 2:15

It basically is the same amount of money (give or take a few dollars) but the difference is wether or not getting to a hotel at 5:30 and resting for the night before taking the 2nd and 3rd legs. No matter what I have to break it into 2 days because of my hopper flight to the airport in my town.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Krisann

It's a difficult choice.
Option 1 sounds good because the first lap is 10 hours and after 9 hours i get bored in a plane so 15 hours is a lot of time in a plane.

Option 2 sounds good because you don't have to transfer as much as option 1....

Hmmm i'm not a big help.....

Never done the Spa before.
The previous cruise we never had any spare time left.
For this cruise we are planning to do some rainforest time....

They look great!!!!!
I think this improvement will be for the magic also, i can't imagine that they only give the wonder such an upgrade.

Lynne, full color navigators premiered on our December 12th Magic cruise. They have a different picture on the front each day and are very nice to look at. That said, I hope they have changed the font a little because it was pretty small and a little difficult to readr :)

Do you know if there are Navigators for visually impaired people??

I sure hope Cadiz is as sunny as it was in 2007. Think shorts and light shirt. We just walked around, some of the folks that put on warmer clothing were tying their jackets around their waist because the weather was so nice.

As for me, since we're going to the UK as well, I'm bringing a pair of shorts with me for cruising around, but khakis/casual pants for traveling on port days. I'm bringing a hoodie jacket for layering, and some t-shirts and button shirts for layers underneath. Oh, and a cap/hat just because I wear weird hats. ;)

I've done three Aprils now (in a row) in Spain, France, and the UK packing that and I've been good. In fact, London was beautiful last year and we didn't need the jacket too much. Paris, on the other hand, was C O L D the first few days, and I was bundled up. Later in the week, Disneyland Paris was so nice, we were walking around in shorts and a light shirt. Barcelona, because of how it is, the "open" areas were nice and sunny, but going into the Barri Gothic, some of those streets haven't seen the sun for a while..so it just feels colder - and with wind..it can be brisk.

Keep in mind, 72 is a good light shirt temperature for me, and 68 is definitely time for a jacket. Layers are always a fabulous idea.
