QOTD: Have you been to Europe or is this your first time?

Both Karen and I have been to England; all countries after The Bahamas are new to us.

I did a 14 day eurail (train) trek of Switzerland, Italy and Austria...it was all amazing and beautiful. My at-the-time- boyfriend took me as a gift... being an art lover , all of the Italian museums and the Sistine chapel made me cry, in a awestruck way. The views in Interlaken Switzerland were breathtaking.

Unfortunately spending all day every day together for 14 days, we found out we were not as compatable as we thought...broke up upon arrival home....lost a boyfriend, gained a trip to europe :confused3

I have to say ....for those who have never been to europe the truth about theives is true....There are a lot of them and I will be making sure I keep watch/keep close to my body, all of my belongings all of the time.... When I was in italy, I almost ( I caught on) got pick pocketed by a little girl and boy that looked to be about 10 years old at the most. One tried to distract me, while the other one tried to unzip my fanny pack...very slick. and in another city a bag of souveneirs mysteriously dissapeared off of the bench beside me ...quicker than the blink of my eye.... I will much more aware and careful this trip. :cool2:

Beyond that though....europe is beautiful and I am really excited about all of our ports and trips. I fell really blessed that my son, at his age will get to see it as well....expand his world beyond xbox360..

We were on the last TA, and my niece was stationed near London a few years ago, so we did a lot of England. That's the way to go, she took us everywhere on trains, car and subway. Amazing time!

Just on the last TA in 2007...excited that Madeira is new the itinerary. The Canary Islands were like a ghost town last time bc EVERYTHING is closed on Sundays. Looking forward to seeing somewhere new. :thumbsup2

QOTD: Have you been to Europe or is this your first time?

This will be my first visit to Europe :cool1::cool1::cool1: I really wish I could stay for the B2B but that would use up all of my vacation time for the year, not to mention $$$ too

Way back after high school, I was in the Army. I was stationed in Germany for 2 years. But I worked so much, I hardly had time to travel. I did end up going to Austria, Switzerland and Italy. Didn't make it down to Rome, though. That was a little too far for a 4 day weekend. Then about 10 years ago, my mom and I went on a Baltic cruise with HAL, pretty much to the same ports as DCL. Spent extra days after the cruise in London and Paris. The cruise was great (coulda done without the mom). Some places were really memorable - St Petersberg, Leggoland in Denmark, West Berlin. One of the things I remember most about that cruise is all the time changes! Awful!!! I am really dreading all of them on this one.

QOTD:

I have been to Switzerland, Norway, Italy, and Denmark. I have not been to any of the countries on the TA, so this will be a treat, for starters.

New here, checking in....I am Michele (35) and will be traveling the EBTA with 2 girls ages 10 & 9. My husband Chris (35) will join us with our other 2 children (girl 13, boy 5) for the first Med cruise. Posts 1-10 on this thread have some good info...including the website AuntLynne set up.... Have fun!

So there's a good chance that my mom is coming with us! :cool1:

I'd like to do a little research for her flight home before I pass off to the travel agent because I'm OCD that way. ;)

I'd be curious to hear what route/airline people are flying to LAX from BCN. TIA

QOTD: Have you been to Europe or is this your first time?

Dan has been to Europe a lot more than I have on business (too many to list). I went to London when I was in the 5th grade with my family. I went to Oktoberfest in Munich in 2001 (as well as side trips to Austria and Hungary). Together we've been to Nice, Monaco, Italy (Almafi coast and Rome), Germany and London.

Dan is actually getting his PhD with the University of Bochum in Germany.

However, neither of us have been to any of the places we are going on this trip. We wanted to try to go to Disneyland Paris, but Disney couldn't help us and it became too difficult to book on our own.

I think I have the record for getting the passports. Took a total of 6 days for us to send in the forms and receive them in the mail. WOW!

TiggerPU88, my DS sent your DS an email today. Hopefully we can get them "talking" before the cruise.

Does anyone know, if you have cat 12 gty, when do you find out what your room number is?

Can I please join the room tour as well? No problem if someone wants to see a category 12 (Im guessing not) so I will be just a nosey participant, if thats okay popcorn::

QOTD: I have been to Denmark a couple of times, but I was a child. First time for DH and DS.

Countdown is on for us Disney newbies to book our excursions on Monday! :woohoo:

KrisannB I PM'd you regarding joining the Lanyard group. Thanks!

I'd like to send a great big THANK YOU! to everyone on this board. You guys are a wealth of knowledge. I really don't know how I would have managed without the advice I've gotten from all of you. :cheer2:

I found the Colour Catcher sheets, but no luck with the Purex 3 in 1 sheets. I think I saw on here that they are not available in Canada, so I'll just have to add it to my shopping list at Cape Canaveral. :rolleyes1

Pirate Night: Is it what it sounds like? Everyone dresses up as priates for dinner?

AuntLynne can you please add us to the lanyard/official with Donald nametag list? Thanks.

Eleasa

We are also taking the train from Barcelona to Madrid. Have you looked into tickets?

Woody

Not yet. We figure there will be lots of trains between the two cities & so we may even buy our tickets the day we are traveling there.
Have you bought your tickets in advance?

I have it down in my notes from a previous poster that the character breakfast tentative dates were April 14, 15 or 16th (depending on rotation).

For a sanity check, I went back in to look at when they're doing the brunch, and it is basically all of the sea days (Day 3/April 12 to Day 8/April 17 and Day 10/April 19 and Day 13/April 22). Still nothing for High Tea. Sigh.

-Steve

Thanks so much! :goodvibes So it looks like none of those days coincide w/ the brunch, which is fine by me!

QOTD: Have you been to Europe or is this your first time?

This will be our 7th trip to Europe....all since 2005, um, I think we like it there! :rotfl:
We've been to Italy, France, Greece, Monaco, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Turkey and Spain but all of these ports except Barcelona are new for us and this is our first TA so that's really exciting! :woohoo:

I especially want to find true, simple, fresh, local foods at each port, plus want to visit a local market (with local meats, fish, produce) at each port as well. Food culture is one of my favorite things to learn and experience. I really better start getting serious about finding some key information if I hope to find these!

I don't think they have a local market at Castaway Cay :rolleyes1....lol just kidding

In Barcelona you should check out the La Boqueria market on La Rambla, it is very lively!

I noticed on the website (from the first page) that you have some dates up for certain things.

Like Formal night on 4/12 & 4/17, Villain's Menu on 4/16, Pirate night 4/18, & Captain's Gala on 4/22

My question is, are those dates solid? Or you just guessing based on the 2007 EBTA?

PLMK, thanks.:thumbsup2
