Thanks everybody for the reactions on my question about the amount of € taking with you.

I never thought that it would be hard to get money from an ATM with an American card. Mine just always work where ever i am in the world.
I can imagine that you want to be sure and have the money you need with you instead of having an ATM that doesn't take your card.
Also i never thought of the extra costs of taking money from an ATM.

I learn every day.....

Here is pay for a total package every year and that way i don't have to pay when i'm going to an ATM outside Europe.
In the US i just go to ATM's where you don't have to pay extra for using that bank.
And i never had any problem with my debit card, the ATM never turned me away....

Thanks again for the explanations!!!!

I will let you know when i have more information.

I was told by my TA I could not change my res. w/out a $1200. penalty ?!
( I have cat 11 GTY.)... I am already paid and have a 300 SB credit & had this res. for over a year so maybe thats why? :confused3 ohhhhh well

I will survive but the extra $$ would have been helpful toward excursions
Thanks for the info anyway !

You might want to check with DCL directly...our DU TA just contacted us and it looks like we can knock $500 or so off our price. Hopefully she will finalize that price change and it will work out. We booked in october 2008, have paid in full, and have shipboard credits (though I am not sure yet whether these remain as is).

We are in Cat 12...that might be the difference, though.

When I called DCL, I was told I was unable to change to the new rate, even though I was already in a Cat 12 GTY, without a penalty. I asked the CSR if I could upgrade to a higher level cabin, and he said, "you can't make ANY changes", which I know doesn't sound realistic at all. What if I wanted to move to a Cat 3, and pay lots of $$...Disney doesn't want more revenue? :rotfl2:

Here's what I did...

I logged onto my reservation on the DCL website. Clicked on the "Modify" button under "My Reservation", clicked on "Change" under Stateroom, and then selected the cheaper price. Now, when I got to review changes, it was the same price, so I went back to the "Change" part, selected the first cheapest price option again, and then went on to review, the new price was active.

It was a little bit of a hoop jump, but I got myself $200 off. :)

I was wondering if that would work! That is great. I sware it is like pandora's box when you call DCL! You never know what cast member you are going to get. Oh and the you can't change CAT's...come one....Deck 7 is EMPTY! I have got through every room to pick out what we want. Almost all of them are open. That is just silly! I am so happy you were able to save a little bit of money. :thumbsup2

Went to my res...it says I cannot "modify " it at this time. Calle dDCL and they could only give me vague answers...because "I have to talk to my travel agent". :headache: I tried...most likey I will surrender the notion (maybe one more call ...but that it lol)

I do appreciate the info and still feel very blessed to be getting on a big boat in 83 days.;)

I received this same email from my DU TA. I don't understand the TA who says you have to pay a penalty. If a lot of us are getting a refund, I don't understand why you can't. Next time, I think I might get a different TA. I'm just sayin'...

On a different topic, I get the Passporter newsletters. They're mostly about WDW (we haven't been yet) but they're still interesting and they have reader tips. Here's one from the one I got today:

LESS LAUNDRY
'On our second cruise with Disney I decided I would try out the laundry on board, but skeptical if I would find time, we packed enough for seven days anyway. Well, we now have a condensed packing list for our next cruise in 2011! What made laundry a breeze was the use of Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets along with a Shout Color Catcher sheet! It was so easy and I convinced several other cruisers of the same! All you need to do is take a tall kitchen trash bag from home, have everyone put their laundry in it, and when full take it to the laundry on the ship. Place one Purex sheet and one Shout Color Catcher in the machine and go about your day (best time is before you go to breakfast and it will be ready to put in dryer by the time you are done). When you return to put your load in the dryer, the Purex sheet goes into the dryer and finishes the load as the fabric softener sheet. The Color Catcher sheets are an amazing invention that allow you to put darks and lights together. When the dryer load is done, just turn the tall kitchen bag inside out and load your clean laundry in it to fold in the convenience of your room. For a family of 4 we did a total of 3 loads for the week and came home with clean everything! It was well worth the time and didn't have to sort or wait for a full load of darks or lights!'

Hope this might help some of us.

My DU TA is working on this too. Right now she said if she reshops our cruise we will lose any excursions/palo/spa bookings. That is a problem they are having and are working with DCL to fix it. I am excited to get $600 back and I am going to use it towards tips. I just realized tips are $180 per person!?!?! That is $720 for our family of 4, that seems much higher then I paid for the EB PC.

So please be patient when you didn't heard back from your DU TA yet!!!!

After i recieved this email i send her back that i'll be patient.

But i have to confess i'm not patient at all!!!!!!!!!!
I'm checking my email every couple of minutes and recieved no answer yet, i just really want to know if everything worked out.........:headache:

Jusy got off the phone with DCL - CC line. She was so positive about changing the price. Was even going to drop the ground transfers that I wasn't going to be using. Then I asked about my OBC. She had to get a manager to move it (is this like a car dealer?!). That's when it soured. We are in the <89 day mark - which means $1200 change penalty. So no modifying there.

Good news is we are within 84 days of the cruise!

Already in the bin of items that are being packed! :thumbsup2

It is nice to read that they were succesful with them on the ship.

The rates are incredible, but you will be so happy in that suite, especially on sea days with kids, all that space, dvds, board games, better room service. I don't know what kind of suite you have, but we love the midship 3s, 8032 is my favorite.

We are in 8032 this sailing! We were in 8532 for the WB PC.

Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets

I've looked all over for these and can't find them?!

Not sure when our friends did it last TA but they gave up their suite and moved to a CAT 6 and saved $12,000

If I could switch, I swear I think I would...the savings would get me on the Dream sooner rather than later. ;) Grlzmom is right though, I will love the space for sea days.

I think 2007 the rules for switching were different. I think that is why they were able to switch so easily. The space will be great on the sea days!
