Since the winter Olympics are taking place in Canada, we have 25 cent coins with various Olympic images as well as stamps. If anyone wants some, let me know, I'd be happy to bring some along.

Hi Eleasa,

I tell you what, if you could get me one of each coin (there's 17 I think - 15 quarters and 2 loonies), I'll trade you for a box of Purex 3-in-1 (whatever scent you like) or another type of laundry product, and a bottle of booze or wine up to $20. PM me if this sounds like a plan, and let me know the scent and the booze to procure! :thumbsup2

On our first cruise... I took my son on an excursion and saw we had a few hours before we left... So put him into the kids program and went shopping by myself for a while at the port.... I have done a variation of that ever since. He is old enough now that I can just walk him to the ship or tender and he boards himself ( I still watch to see him go in though) He HATES the shopping part of the port visits...so this spares him (and me) from the torture ;)

and thanks Beauty & B I will !

Please include us in any meet you have at the Country Inn and Suites. If I can bring something let me know

The Oceaneer's Club and Lab are both open on port days with regular hours, as is Ocean Quest. The only exception is Castaway Cay day when the kid programming takes place on the island and there are a couple of times (morning and late afternoon) when they are moving the program between the ship and the island so they are technically not open. It's not a problem to leave a child in the programming while you leave the ship. Just remember that the pagers work for only a short distance off the ship, so there would be no way to reach you if a child wanted a parent.

RBcheek--Hyatt question. When you arrive, you pick up your luggage at baggage check and take it with you to the Hyatt. There are carts available to use. I've read that there is an addition paid service thru the Hyatt where they will get it for you, but I've never used it. You do NOT put the DCL tags on it until the night before/morning of the cruise. Your bags will be taken from your room about 8 am on the morning of the cruise. you will next see them outside the door to your cabin on the ship. Be sure to keep anything you need the first afternoon in your carry on.

The first bus leaves from MCO about 9:40. They will tell you it's 10:00, but I've been on it--it leaves between 9:30 and 9:40 and gets to the port about 10:15. After that, the buses leave every 20-30 minutes as each one fills. You do not have to take the first bus if you stay at the Hyatt, but you have that option. You'll be instructed to meet in the Hyatt lobby and will be taken to the bus.

Yes the clubs are open and full of activities. There are many parents who go on excursions and leave behind the kids. DD wants to stay on board in Gibraltar bc she is NOT a fan of the apes.

I made the mistake of showing my husband pictures of the apes on people's heads. Now he is dreading the stop in Gibraltar and is wondering if assaulting the apes would land him in a Gibraltar jail. He says that his defense will be "The monkey started it!"

I wonder if I can leave him in the kids club?

Welcome!people bring water on board because they like to spend money or are fixated on bottled water. The ship's water is both distilled and then filtered. It tastes good. I bring one empty water bottle and refill it from the ship's taps for excursions.

--- Personally, I have no issues with the ship's reclaimed water. However, my DW's gall bladder disagrees with me. When we fly in to FL, we generally pick up a case of water for her. We were not able to do so when we sailed this past December ... had to pay DCL $25-$35 (plus 15% gratuity) for a $7 case of water. We $urvived. Our flight is getting into Orlando after 10PM on April 9th ... not sure if we will be able to pick up a case of water or not. We're staying near the Airport, and I e-mailed the hotel (Crowne Plaza) to ask if they know if any of the local stores might be open after 11PM. If not, we're likely going to get hit for the $25-$35 case of DCL water.

On the other hand, I agree that re-using a water bottle is a good idea. In the past, I've brought along a quart of Gatorade. The wider bottle opening is ideal for ice cubes at the beverage station (deck 9).

Disney Nature Oceans opens on April 22nd (Earth Day). I'm a DCL newbie, but I've heard that if a movie opens on land, they'll have it on the cruise. Is that true?

---YES! DCL runs first run Disney movies the day of release, and usually re-runs them a few times during the cruise. We saw Disney Earth on the Magic, as well as The Princess and the Frog. DCL often has a gala opening for their shows, and has had premEARS at 12:01AM on the day of the film release. Technically, since the Atlantic Ocean gets to 12:01AM before New York City, Dallas, San Diego, etc ... the cruise ships get to see the new releases first.

... he is old enough now that I can just walk him to the ship or tender and he boards himself (I still watch to see him go in though)
---Excellent idea ... especially making sure you watch him physically board the ship.

---ATTA BOY! Spoken like a TRUE MAN! Then again, it sounds like an intro to a Jerry Springer show!

So there's a good chance that my mom is coming with us! :cool1:

I'd like to do a little research for her flight home before I pass off to the travel agent because I'm OCD that way. ;)

I'd be curious to hear what route/airline people are flying to LAX from BCN. TIA

We are flying back to SFO via LAX via Swiss Airlines (BCN to Zurich, Zurich to LAX).

Send me a PM if you want the flight details.

Who the husband or the monkey?:rotfl::rotfl2:

I also say thanks for the info on the Hyatt, it is greatly appreciated.

So now I wonder how many of us will be at the Hyatt? It might be nice to meet before the cruise.

We made our reservations last February, and the time has gone by too slowly. I don't think I can wait any longer. Maybe I'll hibernate for a couple of months.

My DD and I have started getting some things ready for the trip. We are soooo excited. We will be dressing up for pirate night!! I have not done that before, but for MNSSHP this year, I bought a pirate wench costume, just so I could wear it again on the cruise.

I am glad to see others getting ready - I have actually started packing suitcases - am I the only one? Tell me I am not crazy :)

No Krisann, your not crazy and your not the only one. We have started packing as well. I am getting more and more excited each day. I cant believe its almost here.:yay::banana::cheer2:

Ok we are getting things finalized.

If you want to do FE but want to do it the easy way - consider being part of the Lanyard Team! Each participant (family/cabin) can join the team for $30.

If you want to be part of the team please email me (Krisann) at akblair@charter.net and let me know you want to be on the team!

Does anyone know if there is a Kids or Teen Message board for our cruise?

Krisann,
Explain to me what you mean by being a part of the Lanyard team.

We have a team of people who are purchasing every Dis-er a lanyard for our cruise. Some of the people on the team are using this as their FE and others are just doing donations to cover their family members (and everywhere in between), some people are helping with distribution, name tags, etc.

If you choose to be on the team and donate $30 to the cost of the lanyards you can elect to use this as your FE gift for the cruise and add you and your family to the FE list.

The FE deadline is Feb. 1st - so in order to do this option you must tell me before then

Some are doing lanyards and a smaller FE gift so they only have a small amount to carry.

Does all this make sense? If not I ask again and I will try again :)

Krisann
