Lanyard Team:

I have been sick this weekend – I am up and going through all the emails and will compose one email with info/ideas from everyone and send them out in about an hour – as well as get the lanyard team updated. I am working on making sure I got everyone on the email list that has emailed me.

Let me know who can “meet up” tonight – like 9 or 10 EST in the chat room.

:flower3: I hope you are feeling better!

I just sent an email. If there is still room on the lanyard team I am def interested. I need to make sure we order lime green! LOL No really, I don't care about the color. I am happy with anything.

I have no idea about the chat but happy to be there if I can figure out "where" is. :rotfl2:

Yes there is still room - I will explain chat and where it is in my big email I am getting ready - we have had a chat room set up for us (sorry - med head - can't remember who set it up but someone on this board did -thanks!)

If anyone else is interested and you did not get a regular email through regular email (not PM) PLEASE SEND ME A REGULAR EMAIL to akblair@charter.net I have created a group in my outlook so I can email everyone at the same time - PM only allows you to email 5 at a time and right now I have emails for 8! I am still going through all the emails so I may have missed someone - sorry. I am working on it - please be patient with me but I plan on having the final team in place by Tuesday at latest so we can beat the Feb 1 deadline for FE participants for those who are doing that with the lanyards.

Sounds great! I am so happy we have 8 people on the team! :thumbsup2

Sorry you're not feeling well. Get well soon!:flower3:

I can chat at those times. Thanks Dee for setting up!

I love the fireworks at the Disney Parks as well, but STILL get goosebumps every time I see them on the ship. Maybe it's just knowing NOBODY else does it. It's just a special experience, and I am thrilled to be a part of the drama.--Steven Long

I didn't know that DCL is the only line that has fireworks. :thumbsup2
We loved Pirate Night on our WB PC -- even if we were so tired and sunsoaked from Cabo or wherever we were... We did not know that Mickey flies through the sky and this year we'll be ready with our video camera facing in the right direction. :)

Stephen, that was pretty funny.
Just thought I would throw in some useless trivia. In Disneylands version of the POTC ride. You can see a picture hanging in the bar with the skeleton drinking his rum. On the picture is a redhead. This scene was supposed to represent the future of the auctioned redhead. (Does that make sense?)

I know the picture you are talking about! :thumbsup2

Krisann, sorry you've been feeling poorly:hug:

Hi everyone, regarding water. Anytime we go anywhere I bring a brita pitcher. I put things like socks inside it for travel so I don't loose any room in my suitcase. When we leave I put the filter in a ziploc so things don't get wet. We bring reuseable water bottles. So I save the money on cases of water. We do the same thing when we go on vacation at the timeshare.
So thats my water story.
Cheers, Jennifer

Disney Nature Oceans opens on April 22nd (Earth Day). I'm a DCL newbie, but I've heard that if a movie opens on land, they'll have it on the cruise. Is that true? Do you think we'll get a chance to see it?

We actually have more than 8 now! I am still working on going through all the emails - it is taking longer than I thought. Sorry everyone.

Welcome!

I'll work on some of your questions....
The port area opens at 10 to incoming traffic, the terminal opens for check in about 15 minutes later. This depends on the disembarkation from the previous cruise going smoothly. Boarding the ship starts about 11:45, and you MUST be on board by 3:45. The standard taxi rate to the port is about $150 although I've known of some cabs going the other direction to negotiate for a fixed fare of $80. You are right that a towncar service is about $100-$120. A rental car about $40-50 for a full size vehicle. Car seats are $12 each from Budget. So...you're looking at $140 for DCL transfers, $120 for a towncar service, or about $75+ tolls and gas for a one way rental.

The drive from MCO to the port is about 45 minutes. Of course you need to factor in getting luggage, getting rental car (or meeting car service driver), dropping off car, etc. If you do rent a car, sign up for the "frequent renter" program for the company--it will save you a lot of time!

You are correct that a child must be fully potty trained to participate in the Oceaneer's Club. This means that they can handle the going as well as the clothes and hand washing. Children who are not trained may play there with parents, but can only be left in the nursery. It was $6 per hour the last time I checked, and you can reserve 35 hours in advance....possibly add more after boarding if desired. Suggestion--DS MUST use the potty before you drop him off at the Oceaneer's Club. About 90 minutes later, you go down to see how he's doing and take him to the potty again. Repeat as needed. Thus, YOU are helping him to succeed. Kids are allowed to wear pull ups late at night, but not during the day.

IMHO, people bring water on board because they like to spend money or are fixated on bottled water. The ship's water is both distilled and then filtered. It tastes good. I bring one empty water bottle and refill it from the ship's taps for excursions.

To answer the question of a few pages back, I've been to Europe a couple times, but never to Spain. I finished my graduation requirements a couple months early, so did an 11 week backpack/hostel/Eurail pass trip many many years ago....then a trip to Amsterdam with DD a couple years ago. I'm sailing solo as DD is now in college. What else was I supposed to answer?

I'll be out of town for a week in February, THEN I can start thinking about April...well, not totally. I've done the hotel/plane/etc. stuff already. I just can't get too into it till I get the February school finished.

THank you so much for the quick reply! That is exactly the information I need. I am a super light traveler so the thought of lugging a case of water wasn't very appealing to me. It sounds like we will be just fine without it.

My 3 year-old has been using the potty the past 3 days pretty well - So I am really hoping that we are in good form by April.

Oh and where we have traveled before: Last summer we did southern Spain (Seville, Cadiz, Rota, Tarifa and small towns in between). Also Gibralter and a day in Morocco.

I have been to (or we, in some cases): Netherlands, Norway, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, China, Thiland, Japan, Austria, Australia (DH not me), Mexico (DH, not me), Morocco. Some places multiple times and some only once. (DH has also been to Iraq twice, but that kinda doesn't count).

Looking forward to adding Portugal to the list. Wish we could do the back-to-back with the med cruise as it sounds great. Too much time off work, sadly. Maybe next year.

A friend's DD was 3 when she was about to give birth to a second DD. My friend was determined to potty train DD1 before the arrival of DD2. DD1 was ok with the first part of the potty training, but when it came to the "second" part :scared1:. She didn't want anyone to know she had to poo - :lmao: They had to resort to bribing her with "big girl panties" and if she went "poo poo in the potty" she got 3 m&m's :rotfl2:. It worked though.

Yes, I will tell that story to her children one day - I'm a mean "auntie" :rotfl:

Is the Lab open on port days? Not sure if Im confortable doing this, but are you able to take an excursion and leave your child in the lab?

Im thinking the Cadiz excursion we want to do may be boring for our DS and wondering if its an option.

Thanks
Eleasa

Yes the clubs are open and full of activities. There are many parents who go on excursions and leave behind the kids. DD wants to stay on board in Gibraltar bc she is NOT a fan of the apes.

Those of us staying the night before near the port - do we want to have a mini meet and greet? If so, how about the Country Inn and Suites as so many of us are staying there.

I've never stayed there, so I don't really have a good suggestion. But I wonder if the pool area would be best? Also, what do you think of 7 or 8pm?

Just some thoughts. Others please chime in.

The mini Meet & Greets are also a great time to distribute lanyards to those attending.

Hi Everybody! I hope you all are having a great Sunday :)

Why do people bring bottled water on board? Is it hard to get water? Is the tap water in the rooms not safe to drink? Just curious because we've never done a cruise before and it would never have occured to me to bring water.

Is it too late to sign - up for FE and lanyards? Secret Mickey?

Hi Anne! Welcome to our group! :goodvibes

As for water, we usually bring bottles onboard for the convenience of using them when we're not in a situation where a cup would be appropriate - i.e. out on the deck, at the gym, on an excursion, etc. We're big water drinkers, so we like to have "to-go" water wherever we go. Once the initial water is done, we keep a few bottles and refill them from the ship's taps.

I think Feb 1 is the cut off date for FE...not sure when the SM cut off is.

Just a small side note...I hate my philosophy class:headache:....Philosophy is like a DOG chasing its tail...thank God the class will be done before the cruise. The cruise planning, reading the disboards and talking to you guys IS a wonderful diversion. :dance3:
Have a great Sunday!

Ugh! It really stinks to have a class that you don't like. :scared: I loved philosophy, but I think that the professor has A LOT to do with it. Hang in there!

That's a great idea - very clever

That sounds so cool! I heard that Alice in Wonderland will also be out during our cruise so we'll probably get to watch that too. I'm hoping that Princess & the Frog will still be in rotation b/c I haven't seen it yet.

We actually have more than 8 now! I am still working on going through all the emails - it is taking longer than I thought. Sorry everyone.

I hope you feel better soon Krisann! :flower3:

I KNEW you'd know the answer! LOL! :worship:

Im going to owe you a drink (or 12). Thanks again for your help. :thumbsup2
