DN Karen is bringing my sister's laptop. She is supposed to do Spanish lessons each day. :lmao: I'll believe it if I see it.

So, if we don't speak Spanish, we stick with Karen? You should make her do all the talking... :rotfl2:

Dh will bring laptop he has unlimited global wireless broadband that will work at ports on TA and MED. We will download photos frequently.

Probably bring one additional laptop since we are a large family.

Kids have netbooks but we will leave them home, laptops better for watching dvds on travel home day, long flights and airport layovers.

"Live from Magic" thread a great idea :thumbsup2

Tell me more about global wireless. Who do you get it from? How does it work? Can you get a connection anywhere in the US? Don't have to be in a "hot spot"? Does it work onboard? I don't use mine for much except playing around online. Don't watch many movies. I always carry my kindle or a library book, though. I'm always reading something. I don't think I could exist without something to read! :thumbsup2

I guess someone could start a thread and everyone could post on it. Do you think that would work?

But it's not Catalan (the language spoken in Barcelona), it's Spanish, like the rest of the country, so perhaps in Cadiz/Seville. When I ask her a question in Spanish, she just looks at me like, huh?

Dh global wireless is Verizon, paid for by his employer, unlimited. We have used it before and even gotten great coverage where there wasn't supposed to be any coverage at all. If you have regular (not global) coverage I'm not sure what kind of fees you incur in other countries, but I'm guessing big ones :) At sea we pick up his coverage sometimes, sometimes not, but always in port or near land.

I think that some companies (check with your cell carrier) do offer a one time monthly purchase but probably not worth it cost wise but never hurts to check.

Me and my girls love our Kindles. I don't know how she does it, but my dd13 gets yahoo email and all her games and stuff on her Kindle without any problems, she has managed to use it like a netbook. We will be bringing out Kindles.

What would life be without something to read? We are all readers in my house.

Wow, I leave for a day and you guys go through way too many pages…I’m still trying to catch up!

I know this doesn't help, but I will be all alone on the Med right after. Never have cruised solo before, so a little nervous about that one. :scared1:

I’ve sailed solo before, and loved it. I was actually going solo on this cruise, as well, until Carla decided to join me. Which is GREAT. But I started out as solo here.

Well, with all this upgrade talk, can we expect to see "Mutiny on the Bound for Barcelona"?

Love it! :rotfl:

Dee47- I think you were on the 10 day holiday cruise with us in 2006?? Am I remembering this correctly??

Yes! I was there with my son (who’s staying at school this time…). It’ll be great to see you again!

How many are bringing netbooks/laptops? What are you doing on them? Surfing or work? Or will you use the computers on the ship? Will you keep up with all our DISfriends on the cruise board with a "live from the Magic" type thread? (I think we should) How many minutes are you buying? Or are you just bringing it for downloading pictures maybe?
I have been going back and forth. Bring the netbook, leave it at home. I think I finally decided to bring it. I will buy one of the packages as I surf all the time. Well, mostly play on the disboards. :rolleyes1

I’m bringing my netbook…I feel awful without being on the net, but more importantly some clients of mine would be pretty upset if their Disney packages got cancelled because I didn’t make their final payment on time… :lmao: Actually I'll probably make those payments before leaving home, but it sounds like a good excuse to bring the netbook right??? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I buy the 500 min. pkg mostly because I'm a news and FB junkie.

OK LISTEN UP! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

For the mini-nav I need locations and DIS names for a Master Locator, FE people (Groups 1 and 2) and Stateroom Tag participants (that last one is actually for the tags, not the mini-nav). I therefor set up a Google Excel-like workbook with appropriate tabs (Krisann, how's that for organizing?). It's located at
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ap-GbvR8vk7NdGtTRFlyczZrVnFoWVdINVpucjB6LVE&hl=en

Please fill in the appropriate info, it would make my life (and yours, by extension :rotfl2::rotfl2:) so much easier! THANKS!!! :worship::worship::worship:

Hi AuntLynne,

Thanks for the information, we are so looking forward to this trip. After our last 10 inches of snow and more coming this weekend, it can't come fast enough !

I just wanted to update you and anyone else that needs names and locations, we are a group of four. Myself (Tammy) and Husband (Matt) are in 2598 and daughter (Elizabeth) and Nana (Karen) are right next door in 2600.

Looking at the calendar I forgot that we all might have to have our taxes done before we cruise !!!!

Thanks.....

As for us, as 1st time cruisers on dcl we didn't expect an upgrade at all. So we're happy with our change to cat 11 and our new location on deck 6.[/QUOTE]

Welcome to the party floor:cheer2::dance3::banana:

Finally caught up. I'm in for cabin tag. Found my flight info. Got a non-stop to Philly on the 24th--wow!

How many are bringing netbooks/laptops? :rolleyes1

Not bringing any computer .... none of us. :surfweb: Also, our Blackberries are going off, in the safe only to be used when we return stateside!

Just trying to catch up from yesterday. I'm solo (and female) too. Cruise solo all the time.

14 is an even better number :cool1:....
I have to clarify... I am not officially sailing alone....My DS (14) is with me...but once he finds some new buddies/activities on the cruise he is gone and its like sailing alone. Not a complaint..I like that he has some independence but I do demand some family activity time too

Dee you forgot one sheet/category on the google excell file !.... can you guess what it is?:rolleyes1

Yeah right. dh pre-empted the tv to watch the Olympics. Ah well, it was probably a rerun anyway.

Oh,those two words have been the bane of my existence this week and last. :upsidedow I work for an NBC affiliate and things have hopping in the sales department! Shouldn't complain, overtime and Olympic bonus will mean more $$ to play on the ship and in the ports! :thumbsup2

This is great, thanks... one question... On the FE Tab, do you want all the names listed or just children?

Bringing my laptop and might use the computers on the ship depending on the WiFi. I will also have my blackberry that I can check for work but I have to get an international plan for the trip.
When I agreed to the trip (last year) I didn't think it thru, it's my busy time of year at work (Real Estate) and as much as I can get someone to cover for me I will still need to be in contact.

Do Cat 10's have a steamer trunk? I know 11's don't (except for the sideways ones).
