Or just NORMAL on here :rotfl:

Hey Sideways folk!.... The cat 11 sideways are my favorite rooms in the Cat. ....I would have requested one but they would only give me gty when I booked....I know they are not bigger BUT the orientation makes them FEEL bigger to me....I had 6515 twice... Hope you enjoy them :thumbsup2

Yey! Glad to hear you enjoyed 6515. I didn't think I would be this excited about getting a room assignment. Usually we don't find out until we get our luggage tags in the mail.

GOLD, no upgrade this cruise, never been upgraded (but several times had reservation noted NOT to upgrade)

T.....

love this:

Tiggertoo-1.jpg

Any chance I can use it as a door magnet? Can you send it to me full size? Pretty, pretty, pretty please.

....back to catch up....

Can you also send her the one that said "Friends don't let friends travel alone"?

.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Good Morning, Miss Monica!

Well, it's off to the shower for me, got to get this work day started.

I'll check in at lunch and hopefully won't have 20 pages to read! :surfweb:

.

Somewhere in the last few pages somebody mentioned being able to flight info on the website. Where do I find it?

I clicked on "My Reservation" and it listed our ports and cabin number and then I think I clicked on "more details" or something like that and when I scrolled down the page it had my aunt's flight information.

Someone earlier mentioned that upgrades surprises at the port are still possible. I believe that . My first cruise was a 3 nighter. I booked two days before final payment was due. I held off completing my online paperwork as I thought I didn't want to print them and then lose them. As the cruise drew closer and closer, I still didn't have a room. I finally finish the online paperwork and within 48 hours I had a room number (12 to a 9).

This was 2 WEEKS before sailing!!!!!! I was beginning to worry if I was going to have a room. Well, after the luggage was delivered....I discovered two extra bags outside my door. Someone got a surprise upgrade at port as their tags had my room number on them. Yes, I was a good cougar and called CS to let them know about the extra luggage. It was gone in minutes! Don't know where the other people were put, but I doubt it was another cat 9 room.

So...... who knows.

That could be why we haven't seen an upgrade I can't seem to get my aunt to fill out her forms. Of course I'm perfectly happy with our room but I still want her forms filled out so I can print the stuff that needs printed. I'm a planner and like things done in advance....guess my aunt's not.

As Jackie mentioned - no luck w/ us calling DCL - I asked if it would help if my dr sent in the medical form.....they said "maybe but no guarantees".

I would love the sideways 11 - and if this was a "normal" caribbean cruise I wouldn't worry about it....however, having seen pics from the LAST EBTA I am a little nervous....I can get motion sickness watching TV (haven't been able to watch even the bobsled runs for the Olympics).

I do wear the patch & take along Bonine & Dramamine (<-- makes me drousy so that helps me go to sleep if I need to). Have thought about Ginger chews.

Linda - you said you took meds....may I ask what? (pm me if you prefer).

Kathe - welcome back! Hope Vegas was fun:goodvibes

Welcome to all the newbies!

This is my 7th DCL cruise - never been upgraded - would love to be but really just want to be on the ship :) This last cruise (January Western) was the cruise that I spent the most time in my room (well...really the verandah) so I have no issues w/ an inside room (as long as Mickey calls me to wake me up :rotfl:)

Are we the only ones on Deck 7??

Krisann

Krisann, we're on Deck 7 too. :lovestruc
I think it's midship and on the starboard side, which we've heard is a good thing!

Did you have a nice birthday? Birthday cake??

We would love to participate in a group activity where we could possibly meet the ship's officers. Should we create a sign-up?

My SIL, MIL and FIL are all on 7 as well. You won't know them from the boards, but I promise they will be friendly faces! :flower3:

My TA called Disney and said they are not giving us an upgrade yet because we have the same cabin for both cruises. I don't really want to have to change cabins but I will see if they offer anything good. Anyway all of us on Deck 2 will keep each other company at the bottom of the boat.

What is the latest on the FE and Secret Mickey? Will we get a final list for the FE? When will we get our SM?

Thanks...I can deal with the linen closet.

Dee47..I'm the other neighbor from a few pages back.

Can somebody remind me how cabin tag works. I think I'm interested but the information overload is kicking in big time now.

Yeah! Found the missing neighbor :)

Stateroom Tag is just a big ol' Mickey head w/stateroom numbers on it...you find it on your door, cross off your stateroom # and slap it on someone else's door (whose # is on the tag. Don't go slapping it on random doors! :rotfl::rotfl:). Nothing complicated, just a fun little break in routine :thumbsup2

Are we the only ones on Deck 7??

Krisann

No, not alone.

OK, now maybe I'm scared. Is that empty space next to 6131 a laundry room? Do I need to call Disney?

No, those are crew areas. It would say laundry. We have stayed in that same area and it is def not laundry.

Ok, first off, today is the first day I have had to work since I joined you crazies. lol I am afraid to leave you and see how many posts there are when I get back!! :lmao:
Second, I will be on the first floor all alone (well, as all alone as you get traveling w/6 guys lol) feel free to visit!! ;)
Have an awesome day!! It's lovely and gray here in Mass.

That is the way it was for us last time. I was the only DISer that got deck 1. It was GREAT! We loved it!!!

Yes keeping the same room for both cruises is so very very important. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that pixie dust comes your way after they assign Med rooms!

I am very happy for all those who got upgrades but I am very very frustrated with DCL.

1. I think those who booked 5's should have gotten 4's before those who had windows. Ginamaria you had GTY Verandah so yes yours was very much up for grabs. As for though the 8's and 9's getting 4's over those who bought 5's I just don't think is right. PLEASE don't get me wrong. I am THRILLED for all of you but I think they could have many twice as many people happy if 5's got 4's and 8 & 9's got 5's.

2. When I read that 11's got 6's I think my knees buckeled. 11's paid the same as what we did as military for the 5's. BUT (yes that is a huge "but" bc this is where my frustration with DCL really comes in)....

When we switched to military rates (which our family has more then earned, DH has been on active duty for 15 years, 6 deployments, 4 to Iraq, Iraq deployments for a total of 29 months)....we had to give up our shipboard credit. I don't totally agree with that rule anyway bc I think it should be a mute point. DCL held on to my money interest free for almost 2 years, I think no matter what rate I get that my OBC should still remain for that fact. Anyway, I knew the rule when I switch so I was fine with it at the time.

What I am not fine with is 11's getting 6's, paying the same thing we did and still being able to keep their OBC. It is just not right. If DCL was willing to give those paying the price of 11's, 5's then WHY could military members who earned this special rate not be able to keep their OBC for money DCL has been holding for so long?!?!?!?

Again, this is NOTHING against those who got upgraded. My beef is with DCL.

On a side note when booking military rates were the same for CAT's 5, 6, 7.

So actually 11's paid less then us bc they were entitled to the 10% off PLUS the $200 OBC per room. Now I know that if we would have stayed in a lower CAT there was no way to guarantee an upgrade but I think if they are willing to give someone the same room I have for the same price I paid why should the OBC be taken away. I don't even care about the 10% but the OBC has me VERY disappointed. :sad2:

The ship is nowhere near capacity.

According to a program I saw on tv, ships are considered "at capacity" when they are at an average of 2 people per stateroom. That doesn't mean all rooms are booked as there are some rooms with 4 people so that would be "capacity" for 2 rooms.

So there may be enough cabins with 3 or more people in it to "consider" the ship at capacity. Who knows.

Strange to me, but that's what the program explained.

Have you been assigned a room yet? I don't remember from all the previous pages who has and has not gotten a room assignment yet.

Kristi

We would love to participate in a group activity where we could possibly meet the ship's officers. Should we create a sign-up?

---Let me contact DCL first, to see if it is even a possibility. Signing up may be a little awkward, since we may not know WHERE and WHEN, till we board the ship ... but we can always sig up as interested parties.

I'm sure DCL doesn't know what they're doing about Madiera yet. You have to understand that there are a lot of parties involved in making the decision of whether or not to stop there. Each port has a ship agent and a plethora of vendors and suppliers who are booked through the ship agent. In order to change our stop, DCL would need to do a lot of rebooking to set things up. At this point, I'm sure their looking into all of their options, but no decision has been made yet.

--I understand completely. My only concern was that they were doing nothing. I wanted to make sure they were 1) monitoring / looking into the situation, and 2) considering alternate ports, in case Madeira was a no go. I would not want them to make a decision 3 days prior to the cruise that Madeira was a NO GO, only to get a sea day in its place.

OK, we all need to have a coming to Jesus talk, so here it goes:

Each of us made the decision when to buy this cruise, what to pay, agreed to cxl penalty, to book GTY or a spacific stateroom. None of us should EXPECT a upgrade or spacific cabin if it was not origionally booked. DCL does not owe any of us anything or an explination, we are each payig for the goods and services. The price will very based on demand, some of us were willing to pay more then others, that's ok.

There I'm done and said my peace. I'm sure we are all confident that we are in good hands with DCL let's stop worring about what we can't control. DCL will do there job and we will all have a wonderful vacation.

Have you been assigned a room yet? I don't remember from all the previous pages who has and has not gotten a room assignment yet.

Kristi

Yeah I have a room. I picked the room and am actually happy with it. Midship right by the elevators so honestly I don't really care if I get upgraded because I already have a veranda so what more could they give me? Of course if they wanted to give me a suite or something I wouldn't complain :lmao:

Well, not ALL apparently. Seems like lots of GTYCat11's are still Cat11's. . . while others certainly got the huge moves, all the way to Cat6 (yeah for all of you:banana:)!

I continue to say, luck of the draw, no logic to it.

I should have been more clear. The cat 12s were going to have to get bumped up a lot more than the cat 11s. Cat 12s don't even hold 4 passengers, so anyone who booked a 12 with 4 people was automatically going to get some kind of upgrade, even if it was just to a cat 11.

No, not alone.

I agree with you about most of this, but I also know it's all part of the cruise industry. Upgrades are one item the the cruise industry deals with which you don't normally find in resorts or other types of vacations, and this is the way they all seem to deal with it (relatively arbitrary guidelines for who moves up in the chain and loss of OBC if you switch around the reservations). The prevailing attitude of the cruise industry is that if you were happy with what you paid for your cabin then you shouldn't care what happened to other people.

I don't agree with the way things are done all the time, but I'm not going to get upset about it either. I have to focus on the positive here. I have enough negativity in other parts of my life right now that I need this cruise to be stressfree.

According to a program I saw on tv, ships are considered "at capacity" when they are at an average of 2 people per stateroom. That doesn't mean all rooms are booked as there are some rooms with 4 people so that would be "capacity" for 2 rooms.

Kristi

I understand what "capacity" means, but I'm 99% sure that we're still nowhere near capacity. They're using this as an excuse because they no longer have access to the room plans to switch people's cabins around by request. It's a stock answer.

---Let me contact DCL first, to see if it is even a possibility. Signing up may be a little awkward, since we may not know WHERE and WHEN, till we board the ship ... but we can always sig up as interested parties.

I agree with you completely. DCL won't give you a firm answer on this though because their worst case scenario is to say "yes we're going to Madiera for sure" and then something else happens (say more flooding) a couple of days prior to our cruise and things have to change again.
