That reminds me, we need a few of those extra laynards for 'honorary' DISboarders. I think PJ (Palo manger) has one from every repositioning cruise he's worked. I wonder if he'll be back from vacation for our cruise.
Also, I wouldn't mind hand delivering one that had the name HANDSOME DANIEL on it. I think it would take the joke with him over the top! :cool2:

Don't know if our CD will be Pete, or if Brent will be back on duty. :confused3

.

HANDSOME DANIEL is?
.

The Wifi on the ship was upgraded early in 2009. We found the connections in the cabins to be quite reasonable except very late at night. We were told that's because a lot of CMs get on when they get off duty.

So, no Simone on our cruise???? Oh well.

Well at this point I'm torn as to if I should take the laptop or not. I just thought it might be a way to keep in touch with my mom and siblings while I'm gone. I still have a little while to decide though. :surfweb:

I just spoke with DCL & I can cancel my ground transfers (port to airport) in Barcelona any time up to 3 days prior to sailing without penalty.

Thank you for not just stopping with my smart-aleck answer.

I called DCL tonight and was able to cancel/refund my MCO-PC transfer.

We moved our flight to the day before the cruise to give us a little buffer and are renting a car and staying in PC. I had thought that $70 was lost.

OK... everyone here is my witness... Lynne owes me a few beers!!!! :cool1::cool1:

:woohoo:Woo-Hoo Evan Lysacek (or however you spell your last name)! Way to go Team USA :woohoo: Awesome skate! :woohoo: Another Gold!

You may now return to your regularly scheduled programing. . .

These late nights during the week are killing me!

And I got some of my cruise papers in order as I watched finally too. Bonus points. :rotfl:

Nite folks!

Last I heard Brent would be back, Clayton would be assitant. But you know DCL, anything can change :)

I asked someone who is one the ship right now to ask and see who would be on for the TA. I will let you know when I hear back from them.

OH, that would be great, I've been looking forward to having Clayton as a CD or ACD, heard such good things about him. Perhaps we should have a name tag made up for them, just in case.

And should anyone forget....here's that lovely photo of Handsome Daniel

.

What does Handsome Daniel do on the ship? I am keeping my fingers crossed for Clayton, we love him!

Brooklyn, I love those pictures you posted. Is there a way to get copies of those so I can use them for my scrapbook?!? Oh as I read back I see that people have answered that question already. Sorry I am brand new to the boards so I am still learning!

Sure you can print out anything that I post. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know what the on ship products like soap, shampoo and conditioner are like?

DH likes them.

Great news on the hair products!

Do they give the same stuff to all cabins? i.e. Category 12 get the same
H2O products?

Everyone gets the same ones.

Do Disney allow you to carry off your own Bags? We did that on our Royal Caribbean cruise to save time. Seeing we are aiming for the 9.25am flight we will need any time advantage we can get.:goodvibes

You can carry them off if you would like.

OK... everyone here is my witness... Lynne owes me a few beers!!!! :cool1::cool1:

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

anyone going to Paris after the cruise? How are going? Train or Plane? I need to make those arrangements soon.

Krisann

When we were planning on going to Paris after the cruise, I was looking at Ryan Air, Easy Jet and Vueling for cheap flights to Paris. Good luck!

I'm so sad that we are not heading to The City of Light. I love Paris.

... I am leaning toward keeping it simple and keeping my disney transport (I may be a cougar in some ways...but possibly a chicken in others)

---Simple thought to keep in mind:
"Disney Transport WILL INDEED get you to where you need to go - ON TIME"

"All other transport options will LIKELY get you to where you ned to go - ON TIME, without hassle" Need I say more?

IMHO, if you have a large party, YES, it can be much cheaper to book return transport on your own. However, if you are a smaller party, and on a time constraint ... be cautious of a taxi promising to get you somewhere ... put you in the cab ... then WAIT for more passengers to fill up the vehicle. Do you really want to sit and wait for more people to be crammed into the vehicle ... potentially making you rush, or be late ... for the sole purpose of making the cabbie a few extra bucks.

When it is just the two of us, we prefer DCL transfers. Your thoughts, opinions and fuel mileage may vary!
popcorn::

Kids - were we supposed to bring kids on this cruise? Nobody said Disney was for kids Oh yeah I am bringing 2 of those things - but Disney has activities for them - DIS is my fun!

--We are a party of two kids ... both in their 40's!

Did we mention we are a sub-culture on the cruise - people will ask you why you have a weird lanyard on or why you have all that stuff on your door ...

--We were on DCL EB Caribbean in 12/09. DW was sitting by the family pool with her sister, each having picked up chicken fingers from Goofy's, and a drink from the beverage station. One woman walked up to DW ... ASKED WHY SHE (DW) WOULD BUY CHICKEN FINGERS AND A SOFT DRINK, when DCL provides breakfast, lunch and dinner FREE OF CHARGE?

Oay, so DW was like a deer-in-headlights! To clarify, I think the other guest (who was wearing a SILVER Castaway Club lanyard - so she has been on at least one other DCL cruise), was under the impression that ONLY sit down / restaurant dining was included / FREE OF CHARGE.
:scared1:

DW explained the new concept of cruising ... all the food you desire - any time - any place (yes, even room service - sans Palo's)! The next day, that other guest was seen walking from Goofy's, with a tray of chicken fingers!
:lmao:

<<Private travel to Barcelona airport>> now the question to go find out is how much more do they charge for extra luggage. May stick with Disney not sure - of course I do not even have a flight out of Barcelona yet
---Another reason to stick with DCL transfers! BTW - we are flying on Iberia Airlines (based in Spain, sister airline to AA). Iberia provides 3 BAGS per passenger, plus carry on! We used American Airlines miles to fly FIRST CLASS to JFK!

I do have 2 suitcases already packed with detailed lists of what is in each one ... five books in my new series of Christmas Organizing book...
--Remember to consider shipping boxes of SM's, FE's or an extra piece of luggage or two to the DCL waterhouse (see page 1 post). Also, please add us as having interest in your Christmas seminar.
:santa:

The Euro is doing another freefall. Good time to buy.

Unless you're a Forex trader, in which case I think a Sell is in order (heh).

Having already received two more snowfalls within the past week, SNOW is in the forecast ONCE AGAIN, for Monday & Tuesday next week  would like to see some of the snow that is still on the ground disappear!

I would like to officially thank all you east coasters for taking the snow this year. Last year we had a record snowfall of 160 inches and this year we have had only about 100 inches. So thanks again for taking it from us.:thumbsup2

What does Handsome Daniel do on the ship? I am keeping my fingers crossed for Clayton, we love him!

Today, official word from Clayton is that he will be onboard as our Assistant Cruise Director. Let me know if you find out about Brent!

Handsome Daniel is a Food & Beverage Officer - we're really hoping he'll be on board.....I have a friend that sails tomorrow & I've asked her to try to verify that he'll be on this cruise.

Mariano - where's he from?? I can't read his country.

I personally love listening to Brent...love that accent...."around the ship" :lmao:

:lmao:I think his record was saying that six times in one announcement! (Yes folks, I was counting, his average was five times.)

Are you taking the train from Barcelona to Madrid?

We booked our train tickets. The baggage allowance is 20 Kg (44 lbs).

I think I'm going a little crazy, I know that I've seen a list of travel books about our port areas for children on this list. I'm going to the library and would like to find that list ; but can't seem to come up with the right search tools.

Many thanks,

Beth

Let's Visit Spain by Susie Brooks (8-12)

Shadow of a Bull by Maia Wojciechowska (young adult-seems like a classic)
