We are getting ready to make our reservations for FW cabins. We will be celebrating my 3yo birthday while at WDW!! In Aug 2008 we celebrated our other's DD b-day at Chef Mickey and had a blast. Yes the food was just okay and the place has seen better days, but the purpose was for my DD to feel like she was doing something "special".....and mission accomplished!!

Since we are booking so late, I am not seeing much for dinner available, a few breakfast times seem to be available. Will breakfast give her her the same special birthday feeling?

I know that getting any character meal maybe a long shot, but if we can not get Chef Mickey what other places should we try and check on for dinners with characters, neither are really into the princess theme, just the major Mickey Mouse core charaters.

Thanks!!!

UPDATE: We were able to get Chef Mickey and Garden Grill!! THANKS EVERYONE!!

I think that your 3 year old would love crystal Palace too.....the Characters and the dance around the restaurant is awesome and the kids enjoy it so much. We took our two grandkids there in May and they had a blast....

ANother choice may be at Playhouse Disney at MGM studios......they do character breakasts and lunch too......the food was pretty good for their breakfast too.......

have fun planning

What about the Garden Grill? My son loved it there when he was 3. They have Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale for dinner. My son is now 14 (:scared1:) and he STILL asks to go back. Actually, we're getting ready to head back there in February for our daughter's 1st birthday! :goodvibes

How about Tusker House in Animal Kingdom for breakfast? It's the only place you get to see Daisy outside the parks. The food was very good. The character meal is only available for breakfast. Characters there: Mickey; Donald; Daisy; Goofy; and Pluto. They wear their safari outfits.

Or you could try for Ohana at the Polynesian (monorail resort in MK). The food was very good there too. The characters: Lilo; Stitch; Mickey; Donald; Goofy; Pluto. They all wear Hawaiian outfits.

Another option is to book Cape Mae Cafe at the Beach Club resort near Epcot. The food was excellent there. The characters: Mickey; Minnie; Goofy; and Donald. They wear their beach outfits.

We've never been but have also heard good things about the character meal at Hollywood and Vine in DHS. They have the Playhouse Disney characters there.

Enjoy your DD's 3rd BDay in WDW! :wizard:

I'll chip another vote for Crystal Palace. Or, if she's a princess fan, try Akerhaus or CRT.

As for breakfast -- I can imagine a child would feel great to start the day off with a "birthday party", and then celebrate the rest of the day by gong to a Disney park.

Heck, I'm turning 40 next year, and I'd love to do that.

For the princesses I would pick either 1900 Park Fare for dinner (Cinderella, Prince Charming, Step Sisters and Step Mother) or Akershus (Belle is the greeter and you get a photo with her in the cost of the meal).

Crystal Palace also is great with Winnie the Pooh and friends.

we did CRT and it was okay but, we did 1900 park fare and it was amazing the stepsisters sing if you ask they do a birthday celebration you can order special cupcakes or the Mickey ones are great. prince charming danced with my daughter we got a lot of face time with Cinderella and the food was great we will go there every time we visit Disney:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

:goodvibes Thanks everyone :goodvibes For all the suggestions. I am going to call and get our reservations, I will let you know what we are able to book.

Thanks Faldred for pointing out that a breakfast birthday to start the day would be exciting for a 3yo!!! I will quit stressing about it and hope to just get something booked from all the suggestions!!

Again Thanks Everyone :thumbsup2

I vote Garden Grill

I second thatr vote. We ate there last week and it was nice having the meal family style and not having to deal with the chaos some of the buffet restaurants seem to have. It was one of our faves.
For breakfast I would pick Tusker House in AK. Also one of our new faves.

Wow, so many choices I am not sure how we will decide!! I guess it will boild down to what we can book, I think we will do 2 character meals, one breakfast, one dinner!! We have picked2 weeks to go, now just waiting on a call back from the dog sitter on which week she can watch the dogs!!

We got Chef Mickey and Garden Grill!! THANKS EVERYONE!!

Crystal Palace has been my son's favourite since he was very little. We celebrated his 4th birthday there and he loved it! He received birthday cards from Tigger, Pooh and the other characters. He was thrilled!
