We are thinking about changing our trip from 1st week of December
to 3rd week of October. We would prefer to attend the Halloween party instead of the Christmas Party. We are also bound by dates due to my 40% pin code. I am concerned about crowd levels, and weather?
WWYD ?

Hi,

As with any question about crowds, you are likely to get the following two posts among your replies:

Post 1: We went at that time last year and the crowds were great! We walked onto everything!

Post 2: We went at that time last year and we will never do that again! The crowds were horrible!

But...the bottom line is...October crowds are quite manageable. Weekends are busier than weekdays.

And plug your dates in here for recent weather history:

We're Post #1 from Bob P's list above. :goodvibes

We love that time of year for the crowd levels, weather and Food & Wine at Epcot.

The third week in OCtober is our week to go every year! We love it. Crowds are moderate, but if you do your research well and use common sense you can avoid the worst of the crowds(like avoiding Epcot on the weekends, since that's when the locals hit the Food and Wine Fest and heading to a park in the AM that has had a PM EMH the night before....etc...). We get FP's when we need to and otherwise just have a great time! We LOVELOVELOVE the Food and Wine Fest! The weather is usually pretty good. Not much rain, can be hot during the day and sometimes chilly in the evening but usually its just pretty comfortable shorts-wearing weather!

October is our first trip for two years and in past have always travelled end of January when there have literally be no crowds whatsoever.

Is it honestly manageable and a good time to visit.

We are staying for three weeks and my DH is dreading queues. I have been told that Soarin will be a minimum of 70 mins, DH will just not wait !!!:crowded:

That's what they make fast pass for! You have to use it for Soarin' even during the slower times of year. Even first thing in the morning it's very crowded.

We always go some time in October, and really like that time of year. The weather can be very hot and humid, though, so be prepared - you just never know. Last year it was in the mid-to-upper 80s and very humid (plus, it was fairly rainy - it rained most days at least once or twice). Don't forget, October is hurricane season! We were at WDW in 2005 during Hurricane Wilma; believe it or not, the hurricane actually cooled the weather off very pleasantly! Pre-hurricane, it was mid-80s and very humid; post-hurricane, it was mid-to-upper 70s and not humid at all - very pleasant!

As far as crowds, I think it's a great time of year to go. The crowds are very manageable; as another poster said, just avoid Epcot on the weekend evenings when the locals go to the F&W festival. Otherwise, the crowd levels are usually very good!

We love going in October as well! We have gone in Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, June and July. October is by far our favorite time to visit. Crowds are lighter, and the weather is more tolerable than in the summer, and not a cool as the winter months...not to mention MNSSHP!!
