3rd Time's the Charm!? A 2014 PTR *NEW 11/21!*

Congrats on finishing up school for a few months! That's got to be nice, not having to deal with class and homework while taking care of a newborn.

I'm kind of fortunate in the fact that I get to stay home with Landon, but it does make me have to be very creative with a monthly budgets. (Plus, Landon's like little E and wouldn't take a bottle.) So, I completely get why you are having a hard time deciding what to do.

I will say, around when Landon turned 11 months, I was ready to leave him with my mother and get back out in the work force. A year is kind of the perfect length of time. You get to see them grow up, but by that year mark they are much more independent than you'd imagine.
That being said, you gotta be able to clothe and feed them, so I get why going back to work might be necessity. :rotfl2: I would just look at what your finances would be if you didn't return and see if there's anything misc. you could give up and still maintain the life you like. If not, and if you don't think you'd be happy not working, then I'd return to work.

It's really your call in the end, though.

Thanks for your input! I'm sure that we will figure something out that will make us all happy lol I think that in the next few weeks once we hear about DHs pay after he is fully licensed, we will be able to make a decision more easily.

It is finally update time!!!

I finally have some actual things to update on and I am very excited about it!.

First, some non trip stuff. Things have been busy but wonderful around here. I have one more online course that I'm taking starting next month and I will be finished my degree. DH is in the last week of his apprenticeship and then he will be fully licensed! It will be so nice for us (and our Disney budgets :rotfl2:) when we no longer have to pay for tuition.

I'm not sure if I posted about it on here or not, but we had scares with both of my brothers and their brains in the last 6 months. The older one was hospitalized in November and just had another scan and follow-up and things look wonderful for him. The little one ended up having to have surgery (on my birthday) and then a second surgery to fix something from the first surgery. It was scary, and he was in the hospital for 2 weeks, but he is home now and doing amazingly well. He still has some headaches, can't walk perfectly, and gets sore easily, but it is a huge improvement from where he was. We are feeling so blessed that they have come through all of this so well, my poor mom is exhausted.

I got my hair cut (as a lovely birthday gift) for the first time in almost 2 years. This is what it looked like before...

It looked shinier in person, but it was really starting to get unhealthy.

I cut of 14 inches!! And I am going to send it to Locks of Love.

You can see what my hair looks like now in the next picture. I had wanted to get a 4 generations photo when I had a baby, and we made sure to take one at Easter dinner. It is something I will always cherish.

And here is another picture from Easter, if you can handle the cuteness... this was one of her Easter gifts from my mom. She is ready to go to WDW!!

Now on to some trip stuff!

We unfortunately had to cancel the reservations at BLT. Nobody wanted to pay that much this year, and with me being on maternity leave, it wouldn't be the smartest choice for us. We are currently booked at POFQ, but that could change once the discounts get released. DH and I are still hoping for a good discount at WL so that the price of staying there wouldn't be much more than POFQ is now. Fingers crossed!!

We can book dining soon, so I have been trying to choose our ADRs and park days. We are doing some things with my family (mom, brothers, grandparents, and aunt, uncle, cousin) and some things just the 3 of us. This really is the best of both worlds for us and will let me make everyone happy.

We are mainly doing breakfast ADRs. DH said this is his preference, and I love breakfast so it works for me.

We are going to get park hoppers, and probably return to the resort in the afternoon most days.

This is what we are looking at right now...

Wednesday, November 12th
- Arrival day!
- We usually fly in on the earliest flight we can and get to WDW at about 11am
- I am debating between lunch at GFC, or not booking a table service meal and just going to DTD for Earl of Sandwich

Thursday, November 13th
- This day I plan on spending at Epcot
- Akershus breakfast ADR

Friday, November 14th
- Boma for breakfast (me, DH, and DD) - This is a new restaurant for us, and I really want to show DH AKL (for a future trip perhaps lol) and I'm sure DD will love the animals. We have lots of time to explore because tonight is...
- MVMCP!!
- So we will head back to the resort after breakfast and have some down time, and hopefully DD will have a good nap before the party

Saturday, November 15th
- Dinner ADR for Mickey's Backyard Barbecue. This is another new meal, but my mom went and loved it and really wants DD to experience it. So the entire family will be at this meal
- Park will be either DHS or DAK

Sunday, November 16th
- Hoping for a pre-park opening breakfast at Crystal Palace.
- This is another meal for the entire family
- We will spend at least the morning at MK and then head back to the resort for a nap, not sure about the evening

Monday, November 17th
- DHS or DAK
- 'Ohana breakfast ADR

Tuesday, November 18th
- Liberty Tree Tavern ADR for dinner
- This one is going to also be the entire family, and we will celebrate my grandparents' anniversary
- Another MK day

Wednesday, November 19th
- Departure day :(

Things are still not set in stone, but I'm running out of time. This plan doesn't really make use of AM EMH and I'm not sure how I feel about that. We usually do some EMH, and since we are early risers, it might be nice to get going earlier and take advantage of the lower crowds. But, since I'm not set on getting anything done in particular and just going with DDs schedule and the crowds are pretty low this time of year, I'm not sure that it's really a big deal.

Anyway, I'm excited to be making some real plans finally! If you have any input on the schedule, I'd gladly take it into consideration, but I'm hoping that this plan will work pretty well for us.

That's all for now! Talk to you soon!

And here is another picture from Easter, if you can handle the cuteness... this was one of her Easter gifts from my mom. She is ready to go to WDW!!

There IS some serious cuteness going on in this picture and that outfit is adorable.

I am glad both of your brothers are doing well. Sounds like scary stuff.

Congrats on donating your hair. That is huge. I have always wanted to do that but I was never able to grow my hair that long. I love your new length of hair. It looks great. Really long hair looks dated sometimes. I bet you feel light as a feather.

Your plans look great!!!!

Thank you :goodvibes Luckily, my hair grows really quickly. When it is long, I can do lots of different things with it, but it is really thick and heavy and takes forever to dry so I was ready for a change.

Such a cute outfit! I can't wait to see her wardrobe while you're at Disney. Baby outfits are just too adorable.

Wow, 14 inches, that's a lot! But trust me, once DD learns how to grasp, you'll be grateful for shorter hair. :rotfl2:

Breakfast ADRs work well with little ones, I've discovered. They tend to be more awake and haven gotten cranky yet. So I think all those yummy breakfasts will be good for your trip. Not to mention, easy way of knocking out character meet and greets.:thumbsup2

She has so many clothes, I don't know how I'll pick which ones to take for the trip :rotfl2:

DD has definitely learned to grasp and loved that long hair! It is much harder for her now that it is short lol

Your comments about the breakfasts are our thoughts exactly!

Seriously, the cuteness is just that...cuteness in abundance. I LOVE it.

The plans sound great. As you know from my TR's, Crystal Palace is our favorite "pre-park opening" place to eat. The rest of your ADR's sound very good too.

Thank you for your kind words Kathy! I feel like I lost 5 pounds with that haircut :rotfl2:

I've never eaten at Crystal Palace before park opening so I'm really excited for that!

I don't think that's a big deal. When we go in Nov/Dec, we actually try to avoid morning EMH parks to some degree. I'm a commando, rope drop, type A park touring type, but it really works better for us to just sleep a little longer and go to a park that opens at 9. Yes, you can get a lot done in that EMH, but you can still get a lot done by getting to the park at 9 when it isn't peak crowds.

Besides, morning EMH doesn't typically work well with breakfast ADRs, and I do like the fact that you're focusing on primarily breakfast ADRs. Truthfully, with your DD that will probably be the best plan. At breakfast, everyone just woke up and is ready to start the day. By the time you get to lunch and dinner ADRs it can be a little more complicated just because it never fails that you will have an ADR scheduled for about 30 minutes after you finally got her to go to take a nap after trying for 2 hours or something like that. Yes, I speak from experience. :rolleyes1

You make some very good points. We used to be very commando but are taking a more relaxed approach lately. I just know that I'll want to do as much with Evelyn as we can, so I want to make the most of our time. But I think that this would be much more of an issue if we were going at Peak season, and I don't need to worry about headliners like ToT with a baby lol And I know what you're saying about the naps and scheduling - it's like they know when it is the worst possible time to eat or sleep so they just have to do it :rotfl2:

Changes, changes, changes!!

I have never done so much swapping around for a trip before, but I think that this will be it, finally!

Last update, we were all booked at POFQ and were waiting for dining and discounts to be released. Wilderness Lodge was a front runner for DH and I through it all but we wanted to see if there were going to be discounts before making any decisions. Because I'm on maternity leave, discounts are a big deal!

So it turned out that POFQ wasn't part of the promos, so we started looking at other options...

CSR - I liked it, but that's where I stayed on my last trip and just wasn't crazy about going again. The buses weren't great.

CBR - New resort for me, but I've heard bad things about its size and buses.

AoA - A possibility, but we didn't want to stay at a value when a discounted moderate could be close to the same price, since regular dining wasn't free here.

We thought about a lot of options. The decisions were easier for DH and I because we just need 1 room, but my poor mom is trying to keep the other 12 of them all happy and within their various budgets.

Yesterday, my mom ran into a family friend who owns DVC. She mentioned that she has points left that they aren't going to use and she frequently rents them out so we could rent from her if we wanted to!:cool1:

This lead to a whole bunch more number crunching. Since we are only 6 months out, options were a bit more limited but we looked at a bunch of resorts and room types to fit everyone in.

In the end, my mom still hasn't found something to make everyone happy and some people are now saying that they might not be going at all. But, I rented points (at an amazing price) and we are now staying at...

Animal Kingdom Lodge, Kidani Village, in a Savanna view room!!!

And the cost will be about as much as we would get POFQ for with free dining.

I am so excited about this. I loved AKL a lot more than I thought I would when we stayed there in 2011. And DD is going to love looking at the animals! I know I will enjoy sitting out on our balcony and looking at the animals after DD has gone to bed for the night, so relaxing.

So since we got such an incredible deal, I don't anticipate anything changing from here on. It is an amount we are comfortable paying, and I love the resort. We get to book our dining soon and November will be here before we know it.

Now I need to get my To Do List going so that I have everything ready in time.

Krysten, that is so awesome! LOVE AKL/Kidani (we will be back there in September). Your DD will love seeing the animals.

Hi I am a new reader to your post..:) and enjoy reading them all.

One question have you ever thought of buying into DVC? We are and truly enjoy it as we go as often as we can and now I know the room part is paid I really don't have to worry about that extra cost.

We are staying at AKL Kadani in August and really looking forward to it. We stayed there back in August 2011 in a 1br actaully a couple of weeks before you did and LOVED it!!!!! This time it is a studio but on the Savannah side:goodvibes with a split visit to BW studio (alwasy wanted to stay there)

Any WOO!! Thanks for the great read and look forward to more post. Acually thinking of tackling doing a PTR myself..:scared1: Jsut don't how to start...

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will LOVE AKV!!!! I hope your mom is able to figure out the rest soon, it is stressful trying to plan for others and make everyone happy, work with their budgets etc.

I'm joining in! I'm slowly catching up (wow a PTR in the making since 2012!)

Always eager to see fellow Canadians PTR/TR's! Plus AKL! So exciting! And so beautiful! Looking forward to see how it all turns out!:goodvibes

You are absolutely going to love AK Kidani Savannah view! It's a wonderful resort and waking up to the animals every morning is going to be wonderful. I would NOT change a thing! Perfection!

We stayed at the Jambo house last trip (at the end of it) and we had a reclassified room with a savannah view and it was awesome! Loved it!

That's so exciting!! I absolutely fell in love with AKL last year, especially with that view, you can't beat it! I'm so happy for you guys (and that you got a great deal to!)
I do feel bad for your mom though, it's so hard to keep everyone in a big group happy.

Krysten, that is so awesome! LOVE AKL/Kidani (we will be back there in September). Your DD will love seeing the animals.

We are so excited! I loved AKL before and we only had a standard view, so I'm sure it will be that much better this time :)

:welcome: Thank you of joining in! We have given DVC some thought, but a big purchase like that just hasn't been practical lately. I'm sure that we will look into it some more soon and see whether it will really benefit us. We also loved Kidani, it is a great little resort.

And don't be afraid of starting a PTR - everyone had to start somewhere! Just jump in, and you learn things as you go. And if you comment on others' reports, they will often stop by and check yours out too!

I remember you posting about it a while ago, I am SOOO glad both are doing better.

That is a LOT of hair! It looks adorable and :cool1: for locks of love. Some seriously cute pics. Love both of them!

:welcome: Thanks for joining in! Where in Canada are you located? We are in Ontario. Yes, we've had some setbacks in getting to this trip but we are finally booked to go!

Loved it!

I'm glad that you enjoyed Jambo House. I thought about staying there this time since we stayed at Kidani last time, but I like the size of Kidani, the buses go there first, and the kids water play area is great, so I just decided to go back there. It's a quick trip over to Jambo if we need to go over for any reason.

That's so exciting!! I absolutely fell in love with AKL last year, especially with that view, you can't beat it! I'm so happy for you guys (and that you got a great deal to!)
I do feel bad for your mom though, it's so hard to keep everyone in a big group happy.

I'm glad that you loved AKL, I'm enjoying your report about your stay :) I'm going to have to scour your report to get some photography ideas for the resort since your photos are all so beautiful. I really need to practice using settings other than auto lol

I'm in Ontario as well! While Rob Ford is not our mayor but we're close enough to hear about it all the time. :crazy2: (Apologies if you are a ford supporter)

Oh! And your daughter is adorable! I love the name Evelyn, so classic and yet so unique!
