This is cute. Yesterday I happened to be walking by the front window and I noticed three girls hovering near our front door so I opened it thinking they wanted my daughter. Well the girls were startled and started giggling. Two were neighborhood girls but one was just spending the night with one of the girls. They all go to school with my son and are in 3rd grade with him. Giggling and blushing, they asked if Matthew was home because the visiting girl wanted to say hi to him. So I call Matt down, he looks at these girls they giggle then one of the mom's drives by and tells them they need to go home. You could see the look of relief on their faces so off they go gigling and giddy. Matt just looked at me and says "What the heck was that?" I told him I think someone has a crush on him and he said that he knows, he's heard it as school.

Okay, while I thought this was cute and amusing, am I the only one that finds this a bit young? I remember having my first crush in the 5th grade, but not 3rd. My DD who's in 5th grade still is not interested in boys. That's okay with me. Plenty of time. What do you all think?

I actully had my first crush in 3rd grade also. i had a crush on my teacher :rotfl2: he was young though, and all the girls in class liked him. really at that age is more a "trend" if one girl says so and so is cute, they all belive he is and form crushes. sounds to me your son is going to be the one getting a lot of girls following him around as he gets older. :rotfl:

Yeh - way early - but my DD is in 2nd grade, and they've already started in her class too. My friend's son is the object of their fascination. They live a few houses down from us, so everyone wants to spend the night with my daughter. My daughter has known him forever and thinks "he's gross," but everyone else adores him. Every time her friends are over - "Can we go to Jake's house??"

Nah I don't think it's too early. In third grade I had a crush on Chad Frankenberger. He was the short blonde who loved basketball and always wore Michael Jordan's #23 jersey. Oh, all us girls swooned for him and then Ryan Singer. Sigh...lol

When my DD was 9, she had a huge crush on her 17 year old swim coach!! He lived (and still does, but is off at college) in the neighborhood. He was all DD could talk about. She even wanted me to drive by the house often so she could see if he was home! I told her "Forget it".

My girlfriends started calling her, "The nine-year old stalker". It was funny, thank goodness that crush only lasted a few months. Then she moved onto another swim coach...and that's another story!

I think my first major crush was 3rd grade. Liked him the whole year and on the last day of school he walked up to me and said, "Do you like me?" I said no and was so hurt he found out. :rotfl:

I remember having a crush in kindergarten, Tom Lamb. My 1st and 2nd grade crush was Vinnie Bolt. 3rd and 4th grade was Danny Patterson. No cute boys in my 5th grade class. 6th grade was Brian Phillips. My friends always seemed to like the same boys as I did. We would giggle over them at recess.

I'm 35 and can't believe I still remember their names.

I had my first crush in kindergarten, on Chucky Niles. My class photo is so funny because I was thinking about him when they took the picture, and I have a blissed out look on my face!

I always had crushes on various boys throughout the years. Don't worry about it--it's just innocent stuff. We would exchnage friendship pins and leather bracelets with our names on them--stuff like that. No kissing! I did not go on my first "real" date until I was 15, and that was a group date.

My first grade daughter and second grade son talk about who has a crush on who at school and stuff. It seems pretty harmless and nothing ever comes of it.

Both kids have had someone they did not like 'kiss' them. Now that is a little mor e worrisome, but at least someone likes them, lol.

I had my first crush in Kindergarten too. Eric L ( I don't even remember his last name, if I ever knew it. How funny is that??)

DD has had a crush on the same boy for over a year now. She is 9. Although recently she has decided to change her crush to another boy in her class since he is nicer to her. Well, have to say that sounds like a good decision.

1st crush was 1st grade...Jason. He remained my main crush until middle school. We "went together" from 1st through 5th grades. :lmao:

I had my first crush in second grade and still remember the guy's name 20 years later. We were actually really good friends in HS.

Oh these stories are too funny. Isn't it funny how you remember everything about your first crush no matter how long ago? For me I was in 5th gr. in 1975 and I still remember his phone number!! Okay, now you all have me worrying about why my 5th grade daughter hasn't started having crushes yet, LOL.

My good friend just told me a boy kissed her in kindergarten! Just an innocent peck of course but I guess he told her he loved her and was going to marry her :lmao: .

I vividly recall being infatuated with a boy named Michael in the first grade. Naturally I didn't know what a relationship and all that was about, but he definitely made me weak in the knees and I was sure I'd marry him someday! By the way, he had no idea I existed. :goodvibes

I had my first crush in kindergarten...

DD: this year in second grade they all seem to have crushes on each other, changes up...there is one boy's name that keeps coming up, but he likes DD and another girl too. Last week he told DD that he liked them both, but the other girl was "number one"..told DD she would be number one, but that she was " a little freaky" - didn't phase her a bit, I think she took it as a compliment!!!!! :sunny:

My son's friend is here; they are both in third grade. Guess what? His friend has a girlfriend and a ring. So, I hear my son say that he and his girlfriend broke up, but I think he was just b.s.'ing. I told him he isn't allowed to have a girlfriend until 6th grade, but I'm pretty sure he's girl crazy already.

OMG! 3rd grade and a girlfriend & a ring? Wow. Back in the day we used to get the guys ID bracelet. Does anyone else remember that? That meant you were "boyfriend & girlfriend". But I think it was 6th or 7th grade before I got one. I recall my Dad not being very happy about it LOL.

I think my 3rd grade daughter's friends want to come over all the time to see my 5th grade son. They drive him insane. :teeth: He wants to know why they NEVER stop talking to him! :lmao:

Not at all! I was in grade three when I had my first real crush! His name was Derek, I would ask to borrow his glue and his markers and was tickled pink when he said I could borrow them. I think I went as far as teasing him and his friends at recess with my friends because I like him so much. You know what they say about teasing ;) In the end he told on us and we all got in trouble, hehe oh grade three, what fun times!

I have a very cute, tall and handsome blonde 3rd grader boy and yes, I've seen the girls blush and giddy and smile and talk with goggily eyes to my son. Thankfully, so far, my son is not really interested in girls yet. He just talks with them.

I guess it's normal and yes I feel it's a bit young too.
