I just upgraded an adult buy-two-days-get-the-third-day-free park-to-park ticket. I purchased the ticket from the Mousesavers link to UT, and entered the park with it. I then went to guest services, and asked about the cost of the upgrade (including tax in both cases).

To upgrade to a 4-day p-t-p ticket, it would have cost ~$20 (so, not much of a savings, if any). To upgrade to the non-resident preferred annual pass, it cost ~$105 (or about $34-35 off of the regular price, given the UT ticket price of 173.99). I hope that this helps someone out there!

So with some quick math, it looks like the $173.99 2 day with the 3rd day free is being treated like a 2 day ticket for upgrade purposes.

The price on the Universal website for multiday tickets are $20 off the gate price. So, looking at your options using gate prices for everything.

4 day ticket $230.03 - 2 day ticket $208.73 = $21.30
Annual Pass $315.17 - 2 day ticket $208.73 = $106.44

I wonder if you'd get better results with the $177.99 buy 2 days get 1 free on Undercover Tourist's website. Those don't expire and have been previously reported to be marked as 3 day tickets. The extra savings on the Annual Pass is because they aren't discounted for buying in advance.
