$399 DVC Premium Annual Pass-Extended?-Speculation

OK...now to decide if we can afford another large "hit" on the CC!

i was in same boat (literally have cruise in less than a month). Initially hated the idea of spending another $1K this month on the tix, then dealing with the remaining upcoming trip expenses next month. Now i need to dig deep to find my hidden travel frugal side in or der to kick back on the January expenses lol.

I just cancelled our dining plan for our NYE extended vacation, so $600+ will come back. Of course, we will eat, so that's not all savings. I got some sort of bug this past weekend, and thought that if it happened while I had the DP what a waste of money that would be. I didn't catch the bug at Disney, but it stayed with me.

I take it that it's not the MC you're going on? Enjoy your travels!

So my BIL and fam are going end of feb 2013. They were planning 10 day hoppers. They may want to go back within a year so:

Is it a 10 hopper $375, DVC AP $425 or DVC PAP $399? Plus taxes of course.

Assuming they are DVC, of course, I can't imagine not buying the PAPs in that scenario but maybe it's just me.

Thanks-yes DVC members. They will for sure once I get them this info.

no, i was torn between it and the itinerary we picked on RCCL. Someday i'll get to sail with my people.:) We did book same time frame in 2014 for 4 day on the Dream.

we haven't purchased the DP for several trips and didn't find that we've spent more OOP. Have a great trip.:thumbsup2

After reading about the possibility of limiting AP to 20 FP+s per quarter I decided not to buy this deal. From what I'm reading and I have no idea if it is true but they are going to limit AP ticket holders to 20 FP+s per quarter. So, that is four a day for 5 days. We tend to go to WDW for 10 to 12 days at a time. On our last trip we went 14 days and I bought APs as we like using TiW and park hopping. The new FP system will not let you park hop. You can only get FPs from one park a day. It also rumored that the "old" FP system as we know it today will be gone by end of next year. This all rumors but we were planning on going in November so, I was going to buy the AP but not now. Not until Disney explains on how they plan to change the FP system. You can read about it here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3034935

There has been no mention about FP+ for MYW, I can't believe they will get a better deal than AP's. MYW may not get any. If you are going for 10 to 12 days, 10 days is the max for MYW. There also has been no mention of how the resort ID will work, that could give you more FP+. I think you are passing up a really good deal with the $399 PAP also considering the 20% merchandise discount, especially based on rumor. Unless you plan on not going if you are not happy with it.

Actually, there are other things influencing my decision. One is that I have some leftover tickets from 2006 that have not expired. So, I really should use up those tickets. Also, gives Disney a chance to work out the kinks in the new fast pass plus system before I make a big financial commitment.

10 MYW base tickets are $399.38 (tax incl) but they expire 14 days afetr first use and only allow 1 park per day. These are not hoppers.

If you get 10 MYW, Park Hoppers that don't expire the cost jumps up to $692.25 and if you add the Water Parks and More feature, the price is $715.68 - which would be comparable to the PAP.

If there will be a lag between uses of more than 14 days to use all 10 days, there is no question about which option is the best.

Good Golly-that is a no-brainer. Plus, DBIL will be "forced" to go back within a year, and DSIL will be jumping for joy. :cheer2:

Okay.. here's podcast on FP+. http://www.wdwtoday.com/article.php?story=20121220211417552 I highly recommend you listen while you wrap your presents or cook dinner. It is 40 minutes long.

Interesting... FP+ is going to be the way for the future. I'd be concerned. I'm not too happy. On the one hand I understand why Disney is doing this for those people that don't plan but I heavily use FPs for my touring. I wouldn't tour without it. But that was before they enforced return times. Now, I really can see us really utilizing EMH more than ever when we didn't in the past. I'll be changing my touring pattern. Since we are not going until November I didn't want to be limited to 20 FP+ for my annual pass per quarter. I'd rather have the 4 FP+ per day as staying on site as a guest. Just my humble opinion.... Hopefully, it rolls out soon so, we can get feed back.

It is not a rumor. Sorry ;)

I took the OP's pricing at face value. Guess I should have checked myself, but either way, I would still have done the same thing, bought the PAPs.

First of all, I'm not quite sure I'd call a WDW Today podcast "gospel." Secondarily, let's give this thing a few months to iron itself out, shall we? I suspect that what it is on day one will not be what it is on day 365. ;)

followed your link and all i had to see was Jim Hill's name attached to the podcast. I understand that many people earn their living providing services related to Disney, more power to them. Their websites are often very helpful as to park hours, closures, etc. and easier to navigate than Disney's. However, it's difficult for me to take his predictions seriously (despite assertations of being based upon inside sources) ever since he repeatedly insisted that Disney had Harry Potter in their fold:rolleyes1.

Bought ours as presents ...will activate them on April trip, already have that and October booked and will just be sure to get another trip in for March or April 2014... Hope they do continue to offer it again

I was only explaining my reason for not purchasing this deal. The way I see it, I don't want to take the gamble. Either way as a DVC member I can either purchase this $399 deal or I can wait purchase the regular annual pass through DVC. Here are the terms and conditions from Disney's website http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/me...2_1356124479_6334427d0f86732baaa622cf91f3867a

So the podcast was referring to the terms and condition.

I just think if this is something Disney plans to roll out next year that they need to consumers a chance to evaluate it before making purchases. Makes you wonder why Disney is offering this deal to DVC members.

link not loading for me:confused3

my PAPs are purchased:goodvibes so it's a moot point for me, but no buyers regret and it wouldn't stop me from purchasing them again.

As for whatever new version of FP may be rollling out...I truly believe Disney wouldn't be so out of touch as to limit FPs for AP holders staying onsite (whether booked at DVC or CRO) any more stringently than those who would be utilizing MYW tix.

really think the 20 per quarter are talking about offsite guests (floridians) who have the PAP.

so would think as onsite and pap holders we (dvc member) would get both.

Can you buy these for friends staying at a DVC with you? And do you have to put a name on them before activating them?

I ask because my DDs are both taking a friend next year with them (but that friend isn't determined yet). They were going to buy passes with waterpark pluses, but the price for these passes are really good. Now if they don't use them, DH and I could use them instead (we have 10 day non-expire we plan to use so we don't need passes).

So I would consider buying 4 of these if I did not have to put names on them yet.
