Why would it be controversial?

It would only be controversial if some people make it so. This is world news, current events and cultural news. On the DIS we say to the various people who observe these events: Happy Easter, Merry Christmas, Happy Passover, and Happy Rosh Hashanah.

We have also had MANY previous Pope /religious threads on the CB without them becoming controversial or delving into religious debate: Not a single one of these threads below were closed down.

The day we can't wish people of another faith, religion, beliefs a happy day, whether we believe or celebrate it ourselves, without it being considered controversial, is truly a sad day on the DIS.
