:rotfl2: :rotfl2: you should post that on the theme park thread "excuses
to go to Disney" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So....I'm just innocently checking the fares on Southwest last week and I see $39 one way flights to Orlando. And wait, we already have AP's...Hmmm. Check the Dolphin - no availability on Saturday and Sun, check Swan, sold out Friday and Sat. Email DU, they say most of the AP rates are sold out.

But wait! I see AKL for $165 / night. Book it, I say! So what if we went in Feb.? And so what if we're going back in November? We're going in May for 5 nights, I say! DW says I'm nuts, but says it with a smile. All co-workers / friends say "You're crazy" - but do I detect a hint of envy in their voices?

So, I'm not crazy, am I?

Maybe a little...but we are too. We went for 12 nights in Feb., and already had our 7 night trip planned for December. Well, on our Feb. trip, we all passed a stomach bug along to each other, and lost some time...so a week after we got back, we decided we needed to go back in May to make up for that lost time... :teeth: We have the AP's, we got the AP rate at POFQ, and we got a great deal on airfare from SWA. It's almost like we're bing PAID to go! :rotfl: :rolleyes1

If all goes as planned, we'll spend 24 nights in WDW this year. Oh and we are also joining DVC! 2005 will go down in history as our DISNEY YEAR! :goodvibes

See you in May!

Were crazy too.

We just went in end of Feb early March and did the DVC AP thing. Well then the next best time to go again for us is May (between sememsters at hubby's school.) So May it is. We flew Spirit last time and the price dropped so we called and got vouchers to be used on another flight. We were able to put them towards already good airfair prices and off we go. Got a email code rate (but no email, had to call the check) at PORS for 88 a night and then we are going to VB for 3 nights too. I love VB in May. I love WDW in may.

One good thing about this for both of us is so much of the stuff that was closed or not yet open in Feb will be in May (IASW, Sorrin, Cindarelabration, etc....) That alone makes it worth it.

So we might be crazy, but we are happy. :cheer2: :cheer2:

I hope the weather is a little bit better then it was in Feb too.

AP can be dangerous. :rolleyes1

OK - so I can call Disney and ask if they have a code just for me??? How can they have a code and I didn't know about it?

I did find the airfares ($49) so we may go too! Sorry if we make May too crowded!!

The more the merrier (as long as it is ONLY DIS members! ;) )

Call up CRO 1800 number (so sorry I don't have it right now, I can look for you.) and tell them you want to go and ask if their is code next to your name. I called and I had a code, but no pin (I got it online) I did have it next to my name.

It helps to always answer email survays and sign up for things on line (like the vacation planning videio.) Give your email adress out ot CM at the park enterence that want it for survay's later.

Good luck. I know that AP codes came out finally, but they weren't as good at the email one I got.

If not there is always All Stars and Pop!

Thanks! I have the CRO number here. I used to get postcards all the time ( of course, not when we were planing a trip though).

I don't have an AP but have AAA. I'll call today and see what they have for me. Thanks again for the info.

We will be doing one night in Nov at Movies - I'm not a hotel snob so that is fine with me. I'm only sleeping there, the cheaper the better. More $$ to spend at WS!

Hmmm....sounds exactly like what did coming home from WDW in 2004. The week we returned, I was "innocently" checking a package deal and OOPS! Before I knew what I was doing, I had booked it! LOL! Who cared it was just 6 short weeks from the big vacation of almost 2 weeks...not me!! I think that 12 step program for "Disney Junkies" is a must...and I have a feeling I should sign up! LOL!
Good for you...have fun! Your family secretly thinks you are a hero!! :love1:

Hooray for all of you :cheer2: I am a sucker for a story with a happy ending :flower: I would have to admot I too would have booked at $39 each way. If you think about it you will probably spend less $$$ at WDW then you would if you stayed home. :wizard: My family is going in May and Dec of this year. We too have AP's and could very easily be persuaded to book another trip :lovestruc

I'm so thrilled w/ SWA! I was all set to drive (11 hours each way with me as the only driver) and was planning on a really cranky day for Day 1, DD's bday on Day 2, cramming lots of fun into Day 3, trying to get to bed early on Day 4, and then a LONG drive home on Day 5, trying not to fall asleep behind the wheel.

Now thanks to $39 each way, I plan to have 5 magical, stress-free days and arrive back home the evening of Day 5 rested, refreshed and (almost) ready to go back to work!

Question, though: Were you as surprised as I was at the tax rate? In my e-mail confirmation, I noticed that the tax was almost 25% of the air fare. Is that normal? (You can tell I usually drive, can't ya, if my ignorance is showing?) I knew about the $20 9/11 security fee, but that was broken out separately along with a $30 "PFC Fee" (whatever that is). Did Southwest mess up the tax or is that normal? Yikes!

Seeing that low airfare from SW I called the DH the other day and the two of us tried to fiqure out when we could go ,we just don't have the time between now and the June cutoff. :confused3
We are going the end of April though and July too so I can't complain. Hopefully those 49$ will be around in the fall!!!

I had booked my airfare for our May trip back in January. At the time the price was $79 each way. Now with the sale, I have $240 credit w/SWA. Looks like another trip will be in order. :cool1:

Hey Slapster,

I am in the New Orleans area also, I wanted to try and get a girl trip together since I also have an AP and the great airfair sale. Well, I cannot get one girlfriend to go. To many excuses.

Wish I were going with you, sounds like your kids are young. GO GO GO while you can, because when they get older you just have to many things going on for them to be able to get away.

I love to talk Disney and I have been going for years. Let me know if you need any info.

:bounce:

I think it will take more than 12 steps to cure me!! :rotfl2:

What is the current rate for an AP and how many times in a year would you have to go to for it to be a value. Oh yeah, what other discounts do you get with it? :earsboy:

We did the same thing.

I watched the late spring-early summer AP rates come out here ... drooled with jealousy. Gave DH the puppy eyes so he said go ahead and go alone, take some time for yourself (have an AP, he doesn't). Found a terrific airfare (nowhere near what you are getting but good for Denver) and - amazingly - AP rates still available at WL and YC.

DH says "What's the airfare? And you are STAYING AT THE YACHT CLUB?!? Darn it, I wanna go too!" (Oh, the kids get to come.)

Now we have to buy an AP for him since we've already got 10 days booked in December. Poor us. I wonder how many more trips we can sneak in to get full value of these APs? Can you hear the music of the world's smallest violin?!?

Have a great last minute trip!
