Well - if you booked accepting & being made aware of the policies and you cancel, then I assume you are out of luck.
It would seem rather cut & dry. What did the terms you agreed to at time of booking indicate?

I’d go ahead and go, but that’s just me.
Another reason why I ALWAYS buy cancellation insurance.

Unfortunately, you just may be on the hook for the charges. You can't dispute the charge if you agreed to the cancellation policy when you book.

We cancelled our vacation rental for next week. If they rental company can't rent it out they are saying we lose all but the security deposit. Anyone know if Disney Visa has any protection coverage? Can you dispute this kind of charge? Are we just out of luck? I should have bought trip insurance before cancelling.

Should I have them rebook it so I can buy trip insurance? Anyone?
Call your Disney Visa provider (might be more than one bank so different answers can happen). You can always dispute a charge although it doesn't mean you'll always get your funds back.

& be warned that if the cc company approves the dispute, the merchant can come after you for unpaid charges, so you may have to argue your case twice.

You're out of luck if you didn't cancel within the date outlined in your contract.

Maybe the rules differ in my state? If a merchant was denied by the credit provider I 'd be fine to provide evidence of the final denial to the court proceeding the merchant brought against me.

no clue, just providing personal experience. I did provide the exact same evidence to the merchant that I sent to the credit card company and the merchant let it go just a warning that it could happen. My situation was fairly obvious, but the collection notice from the merchant after my dispute was approved caught me off guard

Our cancellation policy is 100% forfeit within 30 days. Like many other owners, we chose to give full refunds when this whole thing exploded, but it was our choice. We figured we'd just bleed money for a couple months trying to cover expenses without renters, but karma stepped in. Within a few hours of reposting 3 cancelled weeks, we had 5 inquiries and two new bookings. Aparently some travelers with cancelled cruises or extended spring breaks are excited about retreating to a decked out house with private pool and game room. :flower1:

However, it was entirely up to us as owners to decide whether or not to refund beyond our cancellation policy, and refunds come straight out of the owner's pocket. I also clarified with the new renters that moving forward we would not be refunding for extended park closures or anything else short of a national quarantine. I thought pandemics were usually excluded, but one of our new renters said they bought travel insurance that would cover it.

In 30 years of traveling, including when I was a travel agent, I've never bought travel insurance except for when I booked a cruise in Europe.
I'm thinking I've been very lucky in all these years to have never had a issue, but I'm for sure thinking about maybe purchasing it (presuming it covers what I would need it to cover & yes I'm aware there is different kinds) for domestic and Caribbean travel in the future.

We've only purchased it when going out of the country, never for domestic travel.
