.

I got mine Black Friday 2017 and got $105 in Kohl’s cash. Mine is the series 3 (no gps). I love tracking my activity. Can’t imagine not having it. Highly recommend.

I was going to replace my Fitbit when it died a few months ago. My son in law talked me into an Apple Watch instead. $150 at Walmart.

that's the one I got my daughter for her birthday, Series 1. no way I could afford the newer one. She had 2 Fitibits that died and wanted the Apple Watch; she knows this one is not waterproof so would not work for the first poster. She works out every day and loves it for that and all the other nice things it does.

got a screen protector and different band pretty cheap on Amazon

I did the same deal as @havaneselover. I absolutely love my Apple Watch and I am not a watch person! The days I forget to put to it on I actually miss it. You can definitely wear it swimming. I think that’s where I got a lot of my activity credit on our recent vacation to Punta Cana. Between the water aerobics and trips to the swim-up bar. I definitely think the price is worth it. I had a FitBit prior and didn’t like it as much.

I wear mine every day and bought one for my boyfriend. We both have Series 1. Love it so much.

One of the things I love is that I can use my bluetooth earbuds to listen to music and can control the music on my watch. You can pause, skip, change volume...all without taking your phone out of where ever it is. You can also take pretty clear phone calls on it.

My DS25 is a watch person and has several nice watches. However, after 2 Fitbits died, he decided on getting the Apple Watch and loves it. He now wears it to work and likes it due to the fact you can see incoming texts easily and know what he needs to respond to right away and what can wait.

We thought long and hard about this. I was going to get it for my dh for his 50th.

He ultimately just said no. One because his phone is under his work plan so he wasn’t sure how that would work. I really wanted him to have it because sometime his phone is in the house and he is outside or his phone is muted so he just doesn’t see calls or texts from me. But his eyes are getting older and he would not be able to read with out his cheaters.

So he opted not to get it, plus he would of wanted the really $$$ band and thought that money would be spend better elsewhere.

My dd gets all her texts on her fit bit and it was half the price.

I love mine. It’s totally unneccessary, but I love it. It actually did come in handy in the lines at universal where cell phones are banned (Hulk and Rip Ride Rocket). I have the one with the data plan, so I was able to text my sister who was waiting outside with the baby.

You don't have to have a plan for the watch. You just sync it to your phone using an app. As for bands, I recommend to everyone to buy the watch in the color they like with the cheapest band Apple offers. You can find a much better selection of bands for less on Amazon and Etsy.

I was resistant about getting one. I hadn't worn a watch in years. It seemed like i would want to use my phone for almost everything the watch does. I decided to get one when they were on sale and I *LOVE* it.

  • When I get a text I can just turn my wrist and see if it's important.
  • If I get a call I can answer it even if my phone is somewhere inconvenient in the house. (I do not have the version with cellular.)
  • I love that it prompts me to get up and walk a little after sitting for 50 minutes. I had no idea how long I was sitting uninterrupted each day.
  • I love seeing how many steps I take, especially on trips.
  • I love paying for things with Apple Pay with it. More places are accepting it now and especially in Europe I used this constantly.
  • Before a flight I run the airline's Apple Watch app so I can look and be reminded of my seat number.
  • You can get dirt cheap watch bands on Amazon that look/feel great.
  • I like being able to check my heartrate.
  • I don't have to charge it every day.

I think the most unexpected scenario I read about was someone who got into a car wreck and their phone was knocked out of their reach. Even though they were trapped by their seatbelt they were still able to use their Apple Watch to call for help. There have also been several stories in the news of people who were alerted about heart conditions they didn't know they had by their Apple Watch.

When you swim with it , do you remember to put the water drop on or do
you just go for it ?
I’ll have to say no since I have no idea there was such a feature. You just made me investigate what that is :) Pretty sure I won’t always remember to do that.

I was asking because I did youtube it , just now
a guy tried it with the drop ' on '
and then dropped it in a jar of water without the drop on
for over 20 min. to see if that drop did anything.
He found it didn't do anything .

there is a video on Apple that shows a guy surfing with his arm going through
the water with an apple watch on it.

For what it costs for one of these I want it to be pool proof.
I also like the idea of a heart monitor ,
but mostly the feature where I can get away from having
a phone on me so much.

There's two places I can think of where there's a drop icon.

One it to start a "swim" workout.

The other is a feature that you use to remove water from the speakers when you're done getting it wet. (https://www.imore.com/how-use-water-lock-apple-watch-watchos-4)

In a jar of water the first one wouldn't do anything because the watch isn't moving. The second one is something you do *after* you take it out of the jar of water. They've built in functionality to measure your strokes when you're swimming. You can absolutely use it in the pool. It's important to note that I'm referring to Apple Watch series 2 and 3, not series 1.

Yes and i love it. I got the very first one. Have had it almost 3 years. Allows me communication at work. it also tracks my fitness at the gym. When this one dies I will be buying a new one!

I recently got one and I love it. It does really depend on your usage style and lifestyle though. For instance, I don't carry my phone in my pocket, and I am constantly missing messages and emails because my phone is in my purse. When I'm out I can feel it vibrate, but when I am home, it's buried in my purse on a different floor of the house. It's really convenient to get quick glimpse of emails/calls/IMs so I can see if I need to go find my phone/answer a call, etc. It's also great to have my frequent cards available on my watch (thinking Starbucks app, movie tickets, boarding passes, etc).

I have a series 3, no cellular (the $10 a month charge by verizon just for the privilege of using it is too much for me). I am never more than 50 ft away from my phone, so it wasn't worth it for my use. If you are on the same wifi as the phone, you can be as far as you want from the phone and it will still work. I am not a runner, and would not be out without my phone (unless accidental).

I previously had a fitbit, but love this so much more. I also like to track my sleep, and the Sleep++ app is great (you can now track sleep automatically, which was a main reason I didn't get one before. There was no way I'd remember to manually turn it one before.)

For deals, I was able to get the series 3 on sale at Best Buy for $50 off (so, $279) and traded in an old unused device for some extra to put towards it. If not for that deal, I would have gone to Kohl's and waited for a KC earning period. From Kohl's, you can earn Kohl's cash when you buy one, and also redeem Kohl's cash to purchase (you just can't apply coupons).

Fun extra bands purchased from amazon for $5-$15 each.

I miss my Moto360. The batteries died but we got new ones and a tool kit and are going to try to replace them. I hope to do this by my trip and just get a puck for the strap. It helped so much on not having to pull my phone out as much if I'm just checking the time (I guess I could get a regular watch) or notification. And it also tracked my steps and heart rate (but not as accurately as fitbit or others designed specifically for sports).

I was never a watch person so I was skeptical of buying one, thinking I'd wear it for a week or so then just forget about it. I bought a series one off craigslist for $80, the girl let me play with it for a bit so I knew it worked and everything. I love it. When this one dies I'll definitely shell out the money for whichever one is new at the time. I'm actually surprised how sturdy the screen is. I can't tell you how many times I've hit the screen on the wall or tables walking by and it doesn't have a single scratch, and I don't have a screen protector on it.

When I was recently in Europe several times people acted like I was some sort of wizard when I paid with my watch. I didn't understand that at all because there were so many more opportunities to use Apple Pay than in the states.

I love the convenience of paying for things with it.
