One of the great folks on the Debt Dumpers 2016 thread had posted about doing the 365 day money saving challenge where for each day you deposit the amount of money that matches that number day in the calendar year...
example
Day 1 $.01
Day 10 $.10
Day 100 $1.00
Day 365 $3.65

So you would do this every day..and at the end of the year you will have a little over $600 saved up. I did this a bit last year didn't stick to it that well but it helped build up almost $300 for Christmas....

So if you can't/don't want to do a daily deposit especially if you're like me and don't usually have cash to add to a piggy bank here is the weekly totals and the 4 week (roughly once a month) total under each of the weekly sets. So that way if you want to add once a month or every week you can figure it out easily.

And to the original Debt Dumpers poster of this idea thanks for stirring the brain up again!

So bare with my math here but I did this on a spread sheet for the 365 day challenge (I'll do a post separate also of this same info) but if anyone is wanting to do the 365 day challenge mentioned above add $.01 on Day 1 and $1.00 on Day 100 etc. but only want to make a deposit every 4 weeks (roughly once a month) here is the weekly breakdown and 4 week (monthly) totals that would need to be deposited.

There is another one where y5229 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33603ou pay by the week.

Week 1 = $1
Week 2 = $2

Week 52 = $52

Some suggest to start backwards with $52 first to build it up faster, then the last day your are at $1.

I have a different thought process. If you can afford $52 one week, why not do $52 each week.

I am going to do this in reverse since I will be finishing up Christmas shopping in Nov. and Dec.

This sounds like a great way to save money. I'll give it a try. Thx for the idea

I love the idea of doing it in reverse. I won't be able to start til Mid January/Feb....we are getting caught up on some medical bills we had in November that of course we are just now getting bills for (yuck) but to me it does make more sense so that way you have lots of money saved up for Christmas.

How is everyone doing with their goals? I did something completely different. I set up an auto transfer that takes $100 out of my checking every Monday and places it into a specific savings account. So $100 a week has been happening for quite a while now. This is going to be our vacation savings account. We do not eat out as much as we use to. With a family of six, we use to eat out nearly every weekend. Now it is once a month or less. The kids don't even care to come most times, so it ends up being just DH and myself going out to eat, or picking-up curbside and bringing it home.
