I am looking for suggestions... we are celebrating our 35th anniversary on the NYC to Canada cruise. Anniversary is in September, cruise is in October. Is there anything I can set up for the cruise to surprise my wife? Me being pre-diabetic would suggest I don't go the surprise cake route. :sad2:

All other thoughts appreciated.

thanks.....

Depending on the ship, you could dine at Remy or Palo. Those are very special. Or maybe something in the spa? If your ship has a Rainforest Room, that is the highlight of my trip every time!

Thanks for the quick response.

I have already booked a Sunday brunch at Palo.

As to the Spa, I would be all for it. My wife is not into "other people putting their hands on her" (I guess I am lucky! :yay:) and not into "getting wet" (never goes in the pool regardless of where we are), so those are off the table. I would have been game, but....

Thanks, again...

No problem at all!

The Rainforest Room is actually a "help yourself" kind of a place. There are heated beds where you can lounge and read and then also hot tubs. Not sure about what boat you'll be on, but the Dream has this and it's great! They do couples discounts too on the first day before you sail away too.

For other items, if you call the DCL phone number, they can tell you different items for special occasions.

Would she like a manicure or pedicure? They aren't as intrusive as a massage. You could get her flowers, wine, or a robe from the gift section on Disney's site.

Congratulations!

As PP said you could have something in the room when you arrive, they have a dozen red roses that looks beautiful.

Dinner at Palo too, its such a quiet, beautiful, romantic atmosphere, so different then the MDRs.

I'm sure they could make a cake that fits your dietary needs! Don't let something like that impact your enjoyment. They also have in room gifts and amenities you can get in advance and they will be in your room when you board!

We will be on the Magic. I'll call. Thanks!

We were going to bring our own wine. We are allowed to bring 2 bottles each and we get exactly what we want on an non-inflated price!

Flowers are a possible.

The mani/pedi thing is my girl's speed, not hers... and they won't be with us :yay::yay::smooth::smooth::):):-):-)

I would check out Disney gifts. They have this package with a robe that's really nice.

Are you seeking gifts on board? DCL has a free phone call from the characters inviting you on the Cruise and they say "See ya real soon" at the end, so we ordered the call to come in the morning we left for the cruise...and that was how we announced the surprise.

I like the robe package idea, as long as you think about that when you pack for the cruise and leave room to bring it home (which is something my own DH would overlook). Personally, I think that the robe packages are better values than the flowers, but I'm also the Valentine's Day buzzkill who forbids her husband from buying flowers then b/c the cost is so inflated. :) I would go for the in-room decorations over the flowers, even, b/c they are festive and you can bring them home.

I assume you have discussed excursions together, but if not - you could plan a special day doing things she'd love at a port as a surprise? And tell your servers in advance that you're celebrating your anniversary that day - so the celebration can continue at dinner. I'm the travel planner in our house, and it would make me squirmy and itchy to let DH plan an entire vacation, but if he told me he wanted to make one day really special and did just that - I would be tickled!

I am the planner for the trip and she is very OK with that (Just like I do all the cooking at home and she is OK with that too!) She already knows it's for our anniversary... that's how I convinced her to do a second cruise this year.

Space isn't an issue... we are driving to the port.

I already requested a table for two for dining. I also went through all the excursion choices WITH HER and they are now all reserved. I am bringing a surprise necklace for her but haven't figured out when to give it to her... thinking either at our first dinner on-board, or before our first morning Sunday brunch.

Was just thinking of something to "greet us" when we got to our cabin. Probably the in-room decorations will work. I'll have to dig into that.
